TEMPO DI PASTA
After nearly a decade on the food truck scene in the Washington, D.C. region, Tempo Di Pasta opened its first brick and mortar store in Frederick in December.
Claudia Tempo was inspired to create the restaurant due to her Italian roots.
She and her family, including husband and executive chef Harold Pena and their son, Joseph, want to bring people to the table to enjoy al dente Italian dishes.
The business name, a nod to its founder, translates to “pasta time.”
At the Church Street shop, all entrées offered are traditional original pasta dishes from different regions of Italy.
Pena says there is a dish for everyone, a wide variety of dishes to suit every palette including vegan and gluten free. Choose from dishes such as tortellini, lasagna bolognese, canelloni verde and lasagna de zucchini.
The pasta is made fresh daily in the shop with much of the produce sourced locally.
The restaurant also features an onsite market (mercato in Italian) where customers can purchase unique pasta shapes as well as olive oil, gift baskets and panettone.
Fans of the Tempo Di Pasta food truck can also rejoice. The vehicle will be hitting venues such as wineries for events starting in March. -by Gina Gallucci-White
