Revitilize the street of jaipur the city needs to be changed according to the present need of people and eviornment

HISTORY Jaipur is located amidst the aravali hill ranges at an altitude of about 430 m above sea level. latitude – 26 55’ ; longitude – 75 50’.10th century onwards : the district dhoondhar formed one of the four distinguishable politico-cultural regions of eastern rajasthan, in addition to mewar and hadauti. EVOLUTION OF JAIPUR AS A CAPITAL

Reason why jaipur was made the capital: Military reasons

Defence was an important consideration. A site at the south of amber ensured greater distance from delhi and also prevented the expansion of the city in that direction. It was clear that the out skirting hill ranges (nahargarh hills) shaped as a horseshoe would allow the new city to expand only in the south. So this flat site with a basin like shape was chosen. It was an open plain bounded on the north-west and east by hills.

Geographical reasons

The rocky terrain of amber restricted expansion. Jaipur had the potentialities of developing into a city with adequate drinking water due to the presence of a perennial stream nearby and good drainage system. Its rugged hills also ensured a constant supply of building material, which might be required in the times to come

PLANNING OF CITY The city’s division into nine wards was also in conformity with the hindu caste system, Even the lanes were named after the occupations of inhabitants such as maniharon ka rasta, thatheron ka rasta & many others.

The layout of the city of jaipur wonderfully links the concept of a shastric city with the practicalities of the chosen site. First, the straight line of the ridge suggested itself as the route for one of the main east-west thorough fares and building a road along its crest makes best possible use of the topography for the purpose of drainage. What followed then was to regularize the amber-sanganer road as a north-south route at right angles to it. The point of intersection would be one of the city’s main cross-roads (chaupar)

The ram nivas bagh is used as the underground parking of 950 units which mostly are of cars and bikes only on the ramp at the entraces and exits of parking block. The second main parking is at ram nivas bagh of 300 unit and during vacation sometime they half the maidan used as a cultural activities and if the place is not enough then the parking is shifted to underground parking are on the sides of the road. And at the most many major buildings which are not in use such as gem theatre, gtc mall they are used for paid parking. And even the malls also have the prking plots of around 20 cars nd 30-40 bikes.

MAPS Figure ground

Built up area is pretty less in comparision to vaccant land, so that a vista can be created for albert hall. On both side of ajmeri and sanganeri gate. Built-up area is dense so to avoid that same congestion this strech has been kept with most of vaccant lands. The vaccant land includes the ramnivas bagh area on which any kind of construction is not allowed.

Building height

This map is to represent the height of the buildings with respect to their use. Outside the walled city the bylaws are given maximum, so that in the less space they can accommodate the most of public space. Malls are given on specific purpose to regulate the traffic flow.

Land use

This map shows the types and intensities of different landuses in a particular area. Commercial sector is given less percentage to regulate the pedestrain activity areas on the strech. As the strech is used as a linking road in between three gates so that congestion can be reduced. Ramniwas bagh is the recreational area which is a public space developed in respect to albert hall.

Revitilized plan of street On our street we have a subway near the police memorial building which is currently not being used by the people and as a result we see the maximum crowd on the street above it. Bikes are parked in front of the entrance of subway so subway is not visible.

SUBWAY ENTRANCE

The major reason why the subway is not being used because of the under maintenance of the subway. Also the entrance given for the subway is not proper and also there not proper ventilation in the subway.Present entrances looks like an entrance to a temple. Hence, we would like to change the entrances for the subway.

GTC MALL: It is dead mall with very less shops are open high rent of the shops because of the rent of the shop is high as compared to other malls

THIS SPACE IS LEFT UNUSED OVER THE PERIOD OF TIME IN A DAY .

On our stretch that is from Ajmeri gate to Sanganeri gate, we have Ram Niwas Bagh on the southern side of the street. That open space (ram niwas bagh) is currently being used as a playground by the people living nearby only in the The major reason why morning the subway and in the evening this space is unused is not being used because of the under maintenance the during day time hence we would likeofto create a recreational space/ plaza in that space.
