lucknow the city of nawabs as it is famous. it is a mix cultured city but mostly dominated by enriched islamic culture and architecture. the city is famous for their exquisite cuisine, their famous architecture and beautiful chikankari embroidery which is India’s on of the finest piece of work. the experience in the city was quite different as we do not eperience over here every architecture over there had a story how everything was weaved together.
the city was build under the influence of Mughal Era ; it was obvious we could see alot of Mughal touch in almost everythingaround us. it is also said that the traditions that were once followed by the nawabs are still in practice among the people.
In chikankari one of the most important steps is CHAPAI that is blockprinting. Initially the design are printed on the plain fabrics and then the embroidery is done on it.
Hardoi is a district in the state of uttar pradesh. It has a growing weaving industry that includes chikankari, zardozi, e.tc. The centre we went to for 7 days were in rithawar village from where we learned chikankari craft.
They were very humble and made us feel at home. the time spent on centre and ladies are memories to cherish forever. there was also change is lifestyle from lucknow cuty but they had more vibrant houses unlike subtle architecture in city.
The centre had ladies from both the religion hindu and muslim community and everyone of them were really connected
