RIMINI GALVANINA Galvanina Natural Mineral Water was already delighting refined palates in the times of Ancient Rome, over 2000 years ago under the Reign of Caesar Augustus. This excellent water has its source 1000 feet above sea level on the hill of San Lorenzo Monte, at the foot of the Appennine Mountains in Northern Italy. Galvanina Natural Mineral Water owes its purity and delicately balanced mineral contents to the long, slow path it follows far beneath the ground. Before rising spontaneously to the surface, Galvanina water flows through gigantic sandstone formations dating back to the Pliocene Era protected by immense, deeply buried layers of impermeable clay.

The palate is characterised by intense tropical fruit aromas and a balanced acidity giving an elegant, fresh and sapid enjoyable wine with a pleasant minerality.

Valgatara di Marano in Valpolicella

Veneto

Vaona The company is located in the municipal district of Marano, more precisely in Valgatara in the area of Paverno, in the heart of the historic Valpolicella region. The Vaona family members have always been vine-dressers and now with Alberto they are continuing a path of renovation, without overlooking those ancient values that characterize a philosophy devoted to quality production. Today we discover all the members of the family who dedicate themselves to the different business tasks with passion and sacrifice. A special mention should be deserved to the meticulousness with which the grapes are positioned to dry on racks for the production of RECIOTO and AMARONE wines. The renovation of the cellars, carried out according to functional needs, exploits, for the different processing phases, the natural force of gravity, thus avoiding the excessive use of machines (such as pumps) and allowing for the maximum integrity of the primary product.

Cannara Umbria

Plani Arche Roberto and Elena run their winery business on the Martani hills, located for the most part in the DOC region of Montefalco. They are backed by two generations of experience in the understanding of wines in the area. Wines of a strong and sometimes difficult nature, such as Sagrantino, or complex and earthy like Grechetto, or fresh and fruity like Trebbiano Spoletino. The Vernaccia of Cannara is, on the other hand, a wine of historical significance. Its vine, the Cornetta, was on the verge of extinction, but was saved in the Cannara countryside. From the very beginning, the vines have been cultivated organically, and biodynamic cultivation was also introduced some years ago. Workhorses are now being used to solve the problem of soil compression. €

47. Grechetto Colli Martani Plani Arche (Umbria) 19.95

Grechetto 100%. Fruity, intense, characteristics. The Grechetto vine is low yielding and able to produce concentrated flavours. Reference should be made to the particular qualities of Grechetto vines belonging to the Colli Martani DOC, famous for its finesse and elegance.

48. Umbria Bianco Plani Arche (Umbria) 18.95 Roberto Di Filippo and his wife Elena, who both came from several generations of winemakers, operate cantina Plani Arche. The pair seeks to dispel the hedonistic, luxurious myth of wine, and instead emphasize the often-overlooked work and choices that winemakers put into creating a balanced bottle of wine. All wines are certified organic. This wine is a fruity, fragrant, young blend of Grechetto & Trebbiano varieties.

Gaiole in Chianti

Siena, Toscana

Capannelle The history of Capannelle wine producing dates back to 1974, when Raffaele Rossetti, a 40 year old business man in Rome, decided to purchase an old XVI century farmhouse in the heart of Chianti. A brilliant experiment which in few years led the Company to figure on the list of the top quality producers of Super Tuscan Wines. The Winer produces a limited number of bottles. Barrels employed are changed every two years for red wines and every year for white ones.

54. Chianti Classico Riserva Capannelle (Toscana) 70.00 Sangiovese, Colorino, Canaiolo grapes. Aged 18 months in 16-hl. barrels in French and Austrian oak Bouquet shows toast, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, red fruits. Body is a little astringent, warm, structured, fresh, glucid tannins. Taste of iris, undergrown, musk mixed with vanilla. Long and persistent with intensity.

55. Gaiole in Chianti SOLARE Capannelle (Toscana)

95.00

Castelnuovo dell’Abate

MONTALCINO, TOSCANA

La Poderina La Poderina is located just south of Montalcino near the village of Castelnuovo dell’Abate that is well known for the elegance and balance of its grapes. Thanks to the feeling that innovation serves tradition, wines by La Poderina mature in a mixture of French oak barriques and large wooden barrels. Vineyards are geared to produce 6 tons of grapes per hectare, that is significantly lower than the 8 tons allowed by legislation of the DOCG and DOC.

57. Brunello di Montalcino La Poderina (Toscana) 59.50 Sangiovese grosso grapes. Aromas with hints of black cherry, wild berry and vanilla. The flavour is strong, quite tannic in youth, soft and persistent.

Castelnuovo dell’Abate

Montalcino, Toscana

Tenuta di Sesta The Sesta Estate extends over approximately 200 hectares dedicating 30ha to its vineyards. Of these, 13.5ha are registered as D.O.C.G. for the production of Brunello di Montalcino. The remaining land is principally cultivated (45ha of olive groves) or seeded (55ha). The grape type is Sangiovese Grosso (known as "Brunello") which is used to obtain Brunello and Rosso. Cabernet Franc and Merlot yield grapes used to produce a high-quality red wine, Il Poggio d'Arna.

€€

59. Rosso Di Montalcino Tenuta di Sesta (Toscana) 24.95 It is considered to be the younger brother of Brunello. Best drunk young, although it does last with ageing. It shows an intense ruby red colour and reveals all its exuberance with notes of red fruit and blackberry on the nose. On the palate, it is pleasing with good length and without aggressive tannins.

60. Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta di Sesta (Toscana) 49.95 Pure Sangiovese from a selection of the best grapes of our vineyards, matured in 30hl Slavonian oak barrels for 36 months with subsequent ageing of four months in the bottle. Uniting traditional and modern technology, Brunello has always been a great wine, certainly important and a pleasure to drink. When it is young, it is rich in scents of fruit and flowers. When it has aged, it acquires complex ethereal characteristics and offers a broad bouquet with an aroma of autumn leaves.

61. Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Tenuta di Sesta (Toscana) 89.95 Sangiovese at its purest. It is produced exclusively in the best years. After ageing for 48 months in 30hl Slavonian oak barrels it obtains its delicacy and roundness and develops its austere and imposing aroma. It completes its evolution in the bottle for at least six months. It offers a fine and expansive fragrance of red fruit and is strong and dense on the palate with long, balanced and elegant taste embellished by a great tannin structure.

Aquaviva Di Montepulciano

Siena, Toscana

Le Bèrne Podere Le Bèrne is a farm which occupies about 21 hectares, 10 hectares of which are covered by vineyards. It was founded at the end of the 1960s at the end of the typical Italian share-cropping system, by the Natalini family. During the years, they have linked the ancient artisan systems of production with modern techniques. Constant attention, passion, competence and care for the cultivation, vinification and ageing are all aspects which characterize Podere Le Bèrne wines, which have been sold by the litre for years and now finally have been bottled and labelled. €€

62. Rosso di Montepulciano Le Bèrne (Toscana) 23.95 Vino Rosso has always been produced in Montepulciano, but it obtained DOC certification only in 1989. It is made with the same kinds of grapes used to produce Vino Nobile, but it is younger than Vino Nobile.

63. Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Le Bèrne (Toscana)

The origins of Vino Nobile are very ancient, in XVII Century the poet Francesco Redi stated that “Montepulciano is the king of all wines”.

64. Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva Le Bèrne (Toscana) 55.50 During excellent vintages the wines from our best vats are dedicated to our Riserva, which ages for three years, two of which in barrel.

Maremma Toscana

Val di Toro Arriving at Podere Val di Toro, one immediately sees trees among and surrounding the vineyards. These oaks were here before the vines, giving shade to the cattle grazing in the pastures, the same cattle that gave the name to the property, Valley of the Bull. All those oaks remain in their places, interrupting the rows of vines and conditioning, where necessary, the shape of the vineyard. These trees do not improve our wines, nor simplify our work. But they are there, a testament to a story of deep respect for the land which we adored from the very first time that we set foot here, leaving a view of the sea at our shoulders, climbing a bewitching road up a small hill. €

65. Auramaris’ Vermentino Maremma, Val di Toro (Toscana) 24.95 Brilliant yellow with light golden reflexes, Auramaris has perfumes of fruit with strong varietal notes of apple, pear and bitter almond. In the lightly herbaceous, mineral and slightly salty character one can perceive the helping hand of the Grechetto. The taste is harmonic and fresh and its acidity perfectly balanced with fullness and roundness of taste. The minerality is remarkable and typical of the Mediterranean terrain that is home to this wine.

66. Alfa Tauri’ ROsato Maremma, Val Di Toro (Toscana) 23.95 A young, blush wine. The nose is filled with red and black berries and is spicy. On the palate there are wild berries, in particular raspberries, and mature fruit. The finish is sapid and persistent.

67. Reviresco’ Morellino di Scansano Val di Toro (Toscana) 25.95 Ruby red in colour, with brilliant reflexes of purple; on the nose the perfume of fresh fruit, intense and expressive, that reminds of mature red fruits, bitter cherry and wild berries. The dense and soft tannins add depth and persistence. The passion and attention with which the vineyard is cared for, produce a wine that dares to show the best out of a grape that is as difficult and marvellous as the sangiovese.

Carmignano Toscana

Le Farnete Our work of wine growers begins in 1970 when we bought “Cantagallo” estate which was followed in 1990 by “Le Farnete” estate in Carmignano. Our purpose has always been to bring both estates to a production of high quality. Our estates are located in areas with a high wine-growing and wine-production culture, as stated by the grand-ducal edict of 1716, which was issued by Cosimo de’ Medici and is considered the first law in the world in defence of wine production and of wine trade from prestigious areas. The principle of a wine production of goodquality and personality is summed up in our motto: “One bottle of wine per each vine” (a kilo of grapes per vine). €

68. Barco Reale di Carmignano Tenuta Le Farnete (Toscana) 19.95 Carmignano, whose red has already secured a place among superior wines. The hills of Carmignano, dear to the House of Medici, comprise Barco Reale, a vast territory that was once a hunting reserve. Today, Barco Reale is the name of a fine wine produced by blending Cabernet and Sangiovese grapes from the area.

69. Carmignano Tenuta Le Farnete (Toscana)

26.95

What makes Carmignano so distinctive is its centuries-old practice of blending international grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc with indigenous wine grapes. On the nose the wine is ample, elegant, fine, persistent, fruity with sweet and spicy notes. On tasting one finds a soft, rich in texture, fat and almost opulent wine with firm tannins. Long, persistent finish.

70. Carmignano Riserva Tenuta le Farnete (Toscana) 39.50 Our Riserva is born by a careful selection of Sangiovese (80%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (20%) grapes. It has fermentation with long steeping. After the malo-lactic fermentation the wine ages in oak barrels for a minimum of 12 months. Then it is bottled and refined in bottles for at least one year before being put on the market. Serve at 18°C in glasses for full-bodied red wines.

Ay, Champagne Champagne DeUtz The history of Champagne Deutz is long and colourful to say the least. Champagne Deutz was founded in 1838 as Deutz & Geldermann. The two immigrants from Napoleonic Prussia, Geldermann, a Champagne salesman, and Deutz, a negociant, opened an office with no vineyards. The cuvées were bought sur lattes, already in the bottle, and were then disgorged, the dosage added and the wines labeled When René Deutz and Alfred Geldermann inherited the business from their fathers in the late 1860s, sales of their Champagne had been consistently rising for years.

Alsace RINGENBACH et FILS Alsace is one of the great, under-appreciated treasures of the wine world. This pretty enclave of fairytale villages in the lee of the forested Vosges Mountains offers a wide range of varietal labelled wines, of which the aromatic whites are still, despite global warming, much more successful than the light reds. Ringenbach et Fils, a small grower in Sigolsheim with an estate of a meager 8 hectares of old vines including particular plots of Riesling and Gewurztraminer produces wines that are quite stunning.

103. Riesling Grand Cru Schlossberg Ringenbach et Fils (Alsace) 29.95 A complex and classic Riesling Grand Cru Schlossberg. The oldest Riesling plots situated on the Schlossberg slope. The Riesling Schlossberg is the richest of dry Rieslings. It has complex aromas of great maturity; fleshy and in the same time, it has managed to keep the indescribable elegance of a Riesling. This is a wine that can be drunk now or aged for a good number of years.

104. Riesling Ringenbach et Fils (Alsace) 24.50 Among Alsace’s noble varieties, Riesling is the indisputable king. Elegant and dry, its aromas range from delicate fruit such as lemon, grapefruit, peach and pear to richer expressions such as stewed fruits, flowers and spices. This Riesling is abundant in freshness, opulence and a rich mid-palate, yet, enjoying racy acidity which makes it exceptionally well-balanced.

105. Gewurztraminer Tradizionelle Ringenbach et Fils (Alsace) 26.50 Literally translated as spicy Traminer, “Gewurz” is an aromatic variety with an intense and complex nose of exotic fruits (lychee, passion fruit, pineapple, mango), flowers (rose), citrus (orange peel) and spices (gingerbread, peppermint, cloves and pepper). Layers of honey and ripe fruit also give this wine an incomparably rich and expressive nose.

106. Pinot Gris Ringenbach et Fils (Alsace)

24.95

Pinot Gris has a lovely yellow-gold or even amber colour. Generally less intense, yet with great aromatic complexity, Pinot Gris often develops distinctive aromas of dried fruits, apricot and honey. This is a noble wine that offers great substance, an admirable, lively roundness that tends toward a slightly sweet opulence, but always underpinned by delightful freshness. It is the balanced intensity that makes it so attractive. WHITE WINES

Rhône Valley Domaine Roger Perrin Vineyards have existed on the Roger Perrin property between Orange and Chateauneuf du Pape since the beginning of the 1900's. However, estate bottling only began in 1969 when the Domaine was founded by Roger who took over after his father-in-law's retirement; in 1980, the estate began to sell its wine under its own name: Domaine Roger Perrin.

122. Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Domaine Roger Perrin (Rhône Valley)

49.50

The different varieties are vinified separately. Temperature controlled fermentation (between 19° and 21°). A part of the cuvee (between 10 and 15% of the final blend) is vinified in new barrels. Once the alcoholic fermentation is finished, the wines are aged for between 6-7 months and “battonnage” (the stirring of the lees) is regularly practiced. The other grape varieties are kept in stainless steel on their lees until the final blending and bottling. A Pale yellow robe with golden tints in colour. Fruity and floral nose with white blossom, honey and citrus notes on the nose. On the palate the wine is round and full bodied with a fruity floral character.

123. Côtes du Rhône Rouge Domaine Roger Perrin (Rhône Valley) 19.95 The grapes are brought in at an excellent level of maturity. Chilled to 17° for pre fermentation maceration. Once the fermentation begins the temperature is carefully controlled and the different grape varieties are fermented together in the same vat. The maceration lasts for between 10-12 days. The wine is then aged in cask and bottled in March to maximize its fruit character and elegance. Cherry/black colour. A bouquet of red fruit that is lightly spiced with a hint of caramel milk on the nose. Red fruit dominates the palate with hints of pepper and delicate tannin structure. The finale is all elegance and finesse.

124. Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge Domaine Roger Perrin (Rhône Valley) 49.50 Ruby/black robe in colour. Aromas of red and black fruit, Provencal spices, pepper and a hint of vanilla. A very complex nose. The tannins are very fine and it has a generosity on the mouth that makes it very attractive. A remarkably long lingering finish with a touch of freshness and an extraordinary balance.

Loire Vins Mottron The family originates in the area round Tours in the Loire Valley, where their ancestors were wine growers. Their one ambition has always been the search for quality. Chantal and Jean Motheron came to settle in the Anjou area filled with their lifelong passion for wine. They arrived in Martigné-Briand in 1954, and started their business as wine merchants. It was in 1968 that they began to lay the foundations for the “domaine”. Catherine Motheron, their daughter, took over the family business in 2006, modernizing the equipment, and taking a conscious decision to expand the export department.

125. Sancerre Michel Guiralt (Loire) 29.95 Wine experts have used the phrase "crisp, elegant, and fresh" as a favourable description of Sauvignon blanc from this region. Sancerre wine comes from a village of the same name along the Loire River Valley in France. This is Sauvignon blanc country and that is what Sancerre is. Bright, vibrant and aromatic wine that has a grassy or hay-like complexity to it. The fruit flavours of Sancerre often include what is typical for Sauvignon Blanc based wines, a gooseberry aroma and flavour that are quite distinctive.

126. Pouilly Fumé Michel Girault (Loire) 29.95 Pouilly is very close to Sancerre, just on the other side of the river. However these wines are a little bit different. Pouilly Fumé is probably thicker, deeper and has more structure. This classic Sauvignon Blanc expresses the aromatic mineral purity of its diverse soils. Crisp and fresh on the palate, the wine features notes of smoke and gunflint with intense grassy aromas on the nose.

127. Rosé D'Anjou A.C. Domaine de Flines (Loire) 18.95 Rosé D'Anjou is probably the best-known wine of the Anjou region. Made from Grolleau grapes, this rosé wine is salmon-pink or cherry in colour. It is a pleasantly light, lively and youthful wine. It offers a discreet nose with sweet fruit aromas. Neither dry nor sweet, heavy nor light, Rosé D’Anjou can be enjoyed alongside a variety of aromatic dishes.
