Skin for every climate by Dr. Sara Sibilla | Head of R&D | @sara.sibilla

Various types of climate can affect our skin differently. Cold, dry or humid climate can cause everything from pimples to dry skin. Extreme cold or hot weather conditions can irritate some existing skin conditions or even cause new ones. For this reason, it is important to know the condition of our skin and understand the impact the climate can have on it.

Cold weather Cold weather gets a bad reputation. Some benefits of the cold for your skin are it clears your pores, reduces puffiness, rejuvenates your skin and more. The downside to colder and low humid climates is that overexposed parts of our face can lead to dry skin. Dry skin becomes the perfect place for bacteria, which can finally penetrate a damaged stratum corneum and create pimples and impurities in the skin. Especially with icy winds, skin can become rough, red, stiff and cracked. 6

Solution! To take care of dry and delicate skin, avoid taking long showers and remember to use a good moisturiser every day. Aim for a moisturiser that hydrates not only on the surface.
