Stretching Your Face for Pain Management Whenever you take a moment to stop and look at how the human body works, you would be surprised with how intricate of a design it actually is. Many times, we really don't appreciate what it is that we have in the human body until problems begin to occur and then, the lack of these perfect conditions remind us all to often about the human body. A perfect example of this is whenever we are dealing with chronic pain and are having a difficult time managing it. It is possible for you to take advantage of the intricacies of the human body, however, and to relieve yourself of some of that pain through facial stretching. Facial stretching is something that very few people take advantage of but it is one of the more therapeutic things that can be done for our overall mental and physical health. Much of the tension that we experience on a daily basis ends up showing up in our facial muscles. The tension that is build up during the day can easily tense up the muscles in the face and whenever this occurs, it tenses the muscles in other parts of the body. This can increase the amount of pain that we are feeling quite a bit.

Have you ever noticed that some people walk around with a scowl on their face regularly? These are the people that can really benefit from the facial stretching exercises. There are very few of them that need to be done but once you start doing them, you would be surprised with how quickly they can relieve some of the stress from other areas of your body, along with relieving some of the mental stress that you are feeling. Begin by opening your mouth as wide as you possibly can and opening your eyes, as if you were just surprised by something. Hold this pose for a few seconds and relax before repeating again. You can also stretch out the cheeks manually by pulling down on them and pulling them in towards your nose. Making faces as if you were shaving is also way of stretching the skin and the muscles, helping them to relax. Although this is only one of the methods that can be used for pain management, it is one that tends to be rather effective. Provided you are careful not to do these exercises in public, as they can get you some rather strange stares, they can help you to successfully deal with your pain in many cases.
