Embrace Art Love Culture Discover South Coast These seven words envelope the essence of Purple Skin Magazine. We may be a small team, but our passion to embrace everything that comes under the umbrella of creativity, is huge! From visual arts, to performing arts, music, literature, design, and craft, this, is what we embrace.

photographer | artist | graphic designer Nikki has lived the artist’s life for almost twenty years, making and selling her work, but found that a platform was needed to take her work to the next level. So with the support and encouragement of her three daughters, she enrolled in and attained her Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design. “That’s when a whole new world opened up, and the seed was planted. I was given the tools to fuse my design, art and photography in a way that I never imagined. And to be able to embrace, contribute and promote such a creative and vibrant community is an absolute honor.
photographer | graphic designer Growing up here on the South Coast, Karin Neate used to identify as an arty sort of kid until somehow adulthood and gypsy-like wanderings turned her into an Italian teacher. She returned to her first loves in her late 20’s by studying Photography and Graphic and at CSU, later teaching Visual Arts, Photography and Digital Media. A few years in and her arty-farty persona, L’escargot Ivre, became busy. Deciding to chase the dream, Karin moved back to the coast, setting up her studio. which has lead the introduction of her crazy lady alter-ego, Snotface Lahdedah.
artist | independent curator member | shoalhaven city council arts board With a deep rooted interest in art and drawing since a very young age, Max did not enrol in formal studies until his late twenties. But after graduating from the National Art School in Darlinghurst, Max found work in museums in order to pay his mortgage. Being amongst such fine work developed his passion for art collecting. Today, Max’s work is influenced by the art that he collects and lives with, and is inspired by the qualtiy and diversity of art produced on the south coast. Max has his say on page 12.
