Varsity Head Coach - Michael Grandizio

I grew up playing football for legendar y coach Dave Wildonger of William High School of the East Penn Conference in Southeastern Pennsylvania. As a youth, I played every position before settling in at defensive end for the last three years of my playing career.

Af ter moving to Virginia, I started coaching as an assistant in Fairfax County at Oakton and Lake Braddock High Schools, primarily on defense at all levels, before coming to Paul VI as the head strength and conditioning coach in 2007.

I fell in love with PVI right away. Along with the principles and values that make our school, the people here are tremendous. Being here for over a decade and coaching multiple sports and students in our strength program, PVI has become home to me. In 2017, I jumped at the opportunity to coach football again and to take over our program.

I reside in the City of Fairfax with my loving wife, Lisa; my beautiful daughter, Giada; and my mini-me, Joey.

Our football program will see continued success because of the strong support from our administration, athletic community, and the hard work of our student-athletes. All in!

High School Coaching Experience: 11 years of coaching football, five years at Paul VI

Favorite Football Experience: In 1998, having a winning season and making the WCAC playoffs. Winning the ODAC Championship at Catholic University.

Name: Joe DePorter

Coaching Responsibility: Varsity Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Backs

High School Coaching Experience: 18 years in Northern VA, Paul VI, West Springfield, Herndon, coached all position groups on defense. Defensive coordinator at West Springfield, associate head coach at Herndon/special teams coordinator.

Position Played: Rugby for three years in college

High School Coaching Experience: Three years at PVI for football and track & field. Strength and conditioning for 10 years. Favorite Football Experience: Watching my freshman team (now juniors) get stronger, faster and better. Seeing them grow up over the past three years has been incredible, and I can’t wait to see what happens this year
