Careers in Pest Management
According to labour market insights, the pest control industry employs 5,200 people, with the average age in our industry being 45 years old. More startling, only 4% of our industry comprises females, whereas the all-jobs-average comprises 48% females. Even the construction industry has 12% female participation! These are figures AWPMA wants to improve. Some of the barriers to entry into our industry for females are that pest control careers aren’t promoted in schools for women and the lack of perceived career development opportunities for females.
AWPMA is working with AEPMA to create a Careers in Pest Management website that will help to address these two issues for females. We would really love some collate some videos, stories and photographs featuring females doing their job, as well as reviews from females about why females should get involved in the pest industry.
