DIGITAL ADVICE DAY 2: LinkedIn

An introduction to marketing your business on LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a digital community of over 600 million users, 40 million of those being senior‑level executives. Unlike many other platforms, it is heavily biased towards professional content and for that reason we would advise a two‑pronged approach for marketing your business on LinkedIn.

In this booklet you will learn our

3 TOP TIPS on getting the most from your account.

Personal Profile

Your personal profile on LinkedIn offers you a personal window into this business community - and gives you an opportunity to get your brand in front of them

It all begins with a highly optimised page consisting of: A professional headshot A detailed about us section which clearly explains:

• What you do

• How you can help

Include keywords relating to our industry eg: • kitchen designer

• Your experience

• Your Education

• Your key skills

You should seek endorsements from industry peers, colleagues, suppliers etc. You should where possible seek recommendations from past or existing clients

Business Profile

Once you have a personal profile, you will have the ability to create a business profile and add your employees to the aforementioned profile.

Your profile should contain a square image of your logo, the sector you operate in and a short description of the business, what it does, where it does it and why they should choose you. From here, we would advise you post at least once per week, however please don’t be disheartened if your business page doesn’t receive as much engagement as your personal. Company pages typically do far worse than personal profiles, as they don’t like the feeling that you are being sold to. LinkedIn wants to provide a platform to make connections with people, grow relationships and build trust; all of which your personal page should do.

Comment Frequently LinkedIn’s algorithms favour those who regularly interact with other users, so ensure you make the most of your knowledge, advice, friendly conversation and comment frequently.

In addition to it helping your success, your comments will stay on their posts, reminding them of you and demonstrating that you are supportive. In turn, this makes them more likely to interact with your posts, which reciprocally raises your visibility.

PS, don’t just leave comments – make sure you reply to those that take the time to comment on your posts too!
