Tips for transition to Middle School
TRANSITION TO YEAR 7
What will happen on my first day of school (continued)? Following this, students will take part in a range of activities including Connect time, school photographs, Peer Support sessions and a Year Assembly. Students will also have an opportunity to meet their Year 7 ‘Buddy’. Starting Year 7 is an important step in any student’s educational journey. As our girls begin in Middle School, we encourage them to reflect on the following: • Every student will experience the Primary to Secondary transition differently and will take different amounts of time to adjust to their new routines. Students can set themselves up for success by keeping their timetable in a visible space, familiarising themselves with the College campus and setting up an appropriate workspace at home. There will naturally be a step up in the workload from primary school. If students are unsure how to manage their time and organise themselves, they are encouraged to seek help from a member of the Middle School team and/or attend a Homework Help or Study Skills and Organisation session.
