HOME Dream Homes

We are all we need

Dress up your small heaven

Your dream house can be anywhere you want!

Having an initial idea of what you are looking for is the best way to start looking.

Finding Your Dream Home Even children begin dreaming of the home they will live in someday.

o we all have pictures torn out of magazines, or floor plans saved in a special file? Good! Having an initial idea of what you are looking for is the best way to start looking. For this kind of purchase, it is usually best to find a realtor experienced in the price range you are looking at. They will be able to guide you through the lending process as well as be able to help you find a home with the specific elements that are important to you.

Secondly, drive through entire neighborhoods as well as looking at individual houses. After all, unless you are looking for a home on an estate with several acres, you will be part of a neighborhood. There is likely a “feel to the area as you drive around. Are there bicycles in yards? Then there are kids. Is every lawn manicured perfectly? Then, this will also be expected of you as you purchase your home. These seem like little things, but it may become huge as you settle into your home.

Lastly, take your time. You have probably waited many years and possibly lived in several houses before having the money to look for your dream home. Spending good quality time looking and exploring several homes will assure that you come as close as you can to attaining that dream.

Decorating your home can be an overwhelming business as the options are literally endless.

Love coming home to your own special place of comfort? If your home is missing those elements that make it look and feel like heaven to you, we may have some ideas you can add very simply to create a little heaven.

A few dollars, a new color, a little sparkle on some pillows and the whole room will look changed.

Start with a new mirror in the entryway. Nothing says “Welcome” like expanding that space when one first walks in the front door. The expansion will help your guests feel comfortable walking in. Not only that but, it’s a great way to check your hair and makeup right before you walk out the door!

Another easy “dress up” is adding or changing your pillows. Tired pillows make a room look dated or old. A few dollars, a new color, a little sparkle on some pillows and the whole room will look changed. Be sure to also get a couple of pillows that are just large and soft enough to really lean back on and relax. Ahhh...

Good lighting is key in a room. The room can appear dark, dingy, and a little “hellish or the room can appear bright, inviting, and comforting.

As far as lamps, try some uplights, some small table tops in unexpected places, or even some battery operated candles.

This takes a little experimenting with several types of lamps or combinations of lamps and overhead lighting to secure that heavenly feel you are going after.

By moving them around and placing them strategically around the room, heaven may only be a light switch away.

Good lighting is key in a room.
