A DECEMBER TO REMEMBER!
Phew! It seemed like ages to get to the World Cup action right here, right now, and to think, it’s already past us! But what a journey. It was a breath-taking ride while it lasted. By most counts, Qatar awed the world with its stunningly, seamlessly, spectacular organisation of the greatest show on earth.
The fare was relentless on and off the field as millions of spectators enjoyed the warm hospitality of a nation both proud of its roots and humble to a fault in its welcome. The smart facilitation in making their guests’ stay pleasant and convenient was an experience of a lifetime as many vouched. For instance, never before in history were fans able to watch more than a single encounter with such freedom and alacrity: free electronic buses ferrying them in time from one stadium to another!

Fittingly, many records tumbled whilst new ones were created. From Saudis humbling Argentina to Morocco making pygmies out of giants not to say, the edge-of-the-seat penalty shootouts offered a spectacle beyond the imagination of fans who couldn’t have enough of it.
Off the field, too, Qatar made a bold statement on the global stage as a ‘soft power’ to reckon with, laying bare much of the unfounded criticism cooked up by its jealous detractors in the run-up.
On our front, QH reviews the action in all the rich flavours on its pages. We also take the opportunity to mark a double celebration thanks to the World Cup final having coincided this year with the Qatar National Day. Plus all the regular features to keep you agog for a December to remember!
