HRSD stands for Human Resources Service Delivery. It’s also known as ServiceNow HR. It’s a paid module in ServiceNow.
HRSD’s aim is to streamline an organization’s HR processes –recruitment, onboarding, employee self-service, employee performance, benefits, policies and procedures etc.,
In a nutshell: Make it easy for employees to get HR services
Less Confusion and Less Cost.
Compliance – when you have things well defined and automated – you stand a higher chance of being compliant (of Legal and Regulatory requirements).
Data Management – sensitive data leakage is prevented. Reporting and analysis is easier.
In HRSD, one will come across “Journey”, basically, it’s a series of steps or tasks that an employee goes through in order to complete a specific HR process.
The ”steps” may involve some from the employee, some from the manager, others from IT, Payroll, HR, etc., The whole thing can be done in almost a self-service kind of manner.
Let’s look at an example posted on the Community channel.
Another term one might hear is “Journey Accelerator”, simply put – its a pre-built set of configurations, workflows, forms, and other components that organizations can use to quickly implement specific HR journeys.
For example:
Create and manage task templates, such as workstation setup or planning and training sessions.
Define and manage plan types for employee transitions, such as promotions, on-boarding, off-boarding, etc.,
Employees can then view the plans, complete their to-do tasks, and track their progress.

Another interesting component of HRSD is the “Learning Core”; it is used for training courses – one can create courses, manage them, assign them to employees, track employee’s progress, do reporting, etc.,
Interestingly, it can be integrated with a few 3rd-party Learning Management System providers – eg., Udemy, etc.,
You can configure catalogs with both Internal and External content.
From the name “HR Profile” – its easy to understand that it contains profile information of employee’s – but that information is HR related and mostly confidential.
HR Case – very simply put – is a request, raised either by the employee or the HR Staff. And just like an incident or requested in ITSM, it can have different statuses – and data, logs, etc., can be attached to it.
Though the concept is simple – it can, if used correctly streamline HR processes by a lot.
Managers are not left-out of HRSD.
