10 YEARS
QGMI GROUP: TRANSFORMING LIVES FOR 10 YEARS
QGMI completes 10 years of operations in Ghana. In just
one decade, it has played an important role in the country’s infrastructure sector. It has become one of the largest partners of Ghana’s population in the improvement of transport and connectivity. More than that: it attains its role of transforming the lives of thousands of people.
We aim to maintain a very close relationship with the
population of Ghana and we want to reiterate how fundamental they are, being our main users, in the achievement of such excellent results and in the solidification of our brand in the region.
QGMI is also based on a human resources structure with
a high average of permanence. There is a significant number of employees and partners who started and maintained their professional career with us since our arrival, always focusing on the local workforce.
Thus, we are ready to implement all kinds of basic
infrastructure in urban areas, as well as the rehabilitation of the more remote areas throughout the country. QGMI executes in a significant part of the Ghanaian infrastructure network with regard to roads, airports, urban Interchanges as well as the drainage of rainwater and flow of domestic effluents.
IN ITS OPERATIONS, THE QGMI GROUP HAS REAPED GOOD RESULTS. THE MAIN MILESTONES DURING THESE 10 YEARS: 4

There are plenty of reasons to celebrate these 10 years and in order to commemorate the performance of a decade of
operations and to, once again, honor the population of Ghana, we inaugurated phase 1 of the Obtesebi Lamptey flyover last November.
Also in this year, we were assigned three new mobility projects and one sanitation project to further strengthen our enduring
partnership.
2020 was a year of greater importance in the growth and development of the QGMI group in the region. We have substantially
increased our production and expanded into the important Ivory Coast market to serve and participate in the development and autonomy of West Africa.
With the full conviction that this is only the beginning of this lasting partnership and with the ambition to do more and better,
QGMI's management is proud of their first decade of praise.

TAMALE ACCRA TEMA 25
NIMA DRAIN
26
TRACK RECORD
PROJECTS OVERVIEW
RATIONALE Mamobi, a low-income and heavily populated community, has for many years experienced regular floods, mostly resulting in the loss of lives and properties and the disruption of economic activities. The Nima drain takes its source from the western part of the city and runs through the airport city, Mamobi, Nima and Assylum, then finally channels into the Odaw stream at Circle, near Hawkers’ Market. The remaining stretch through Mamobi remains unimproved. Poor management of storm runoff and waste in the community has destroyed a significant part of its ecosystem in addition to slowing development.
KEY FEATURES • Stormwater management in the community involved the construction of a 1.2 km rectangular box drain measuring 5 m wide by 2.5 m deep and stretches from Obassanjo Highway, close to Kaokudi Junction, to the culvert on Mamobi Highway. It is one of the largest drains in Accra.
TRANSACTION STRUCTURE
PROJECT IMPACT
• Source of Funds: Government of Ghana (Public budget); • Progress to date: 100% (October 2017).
• Mitigation of perennial flooding improves environmental and sanitary conditions and alleviates property damage and health risks in the Nima-Mamobi community; • Enhancement of solid waste collection; • Social and health improvements with no open areas, while the area above the drain can be used for social activities.
ACCRA 27

The location where the proposed interchange was constructed was one of the major bottlenecks in the Ring Road network. Its upgrade will enhance city connections by linking radial arteries with Ring Road and the N1.
KEY FEATURES • • • •
Construction of an approximately 170 m flyover from Ring Road East to Ring Road West above Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange; Access ramps (MSE walls); Ground level improvement; Landscaping.
TRANSACTION STRUCTURE

SOCIALLY SUSTAINABLE PERFORMANCES In our endeavours, we promote the development of the areas where we work by training and recruiting local labour, valuing and developing suppliers and their potential, and thereby creating new opportunities. We aim to create value for our stakeholders through establishing participation and developing strategies to create opportunities for local people, mitigating impacts to community health and safety, and building two-way communication channels. Further, QGMI Group is committed to respectful interaction and positive contribution to the communities in Ghana by actively engaging with them. Each year, we carefully select a relevant cause to which we dedicate our attention and efforts. In 2020, our social sustainability journey began with our commitment to women’s health. We believe our actions can help improve women’s lives and generate a positive overall impact on people and communities. We have centred our social initiatives on activities of health promotion through breast cancer awareness in Ghana. Throughout 2020, we implemented a project in Tamale that reflected the purpose of going the extra mile to further women’s well-being. 56
OUR JOINT EFFORTS AGAINST THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
Worldwide lives in an unprecedented period of time due
to the crisis, spread, and restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. During these uncertain times, the vital priority of QGMI is to ensure the safety and health of all our employees, partners, and society. While continuing our activity during this crisis with our usual high level of commitment, we comply strictly with the instructions put into force by the public authorities of Ghana and the World Health Organisation.
While conducting our operations, we make sure that
on-site teams operate safely and the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic is under control. In order to do so, the high measures in a working environment that we take to protect our teams are as follows: hourly cleaning, disinfection, availability of personal protective equipment, temperature checking, screening, signage, and testing of our employees, and many more. Furthermore, we have rescheduled internal and external events for virtual attendance and when necessary and possibly postponed or canceled the same.
Despite such restrictions caused by the pandemic,
QGMI has made its best efforts to continue contributing to the society and the economy owing to our distinctive strengths and to our employees who involve their work dedicatedly. Therefore, we take this opportunity to thank our employees and all the key workers across the country. 57

IVORY COAST
The QGMI Group arrives in Ivory Coast after a successful decade of legacy and partnership in Ghana. After demonstrating our technical capability, experience and long-term commitment, the Group recently signed its first contract with the Ministry of Construction, Housing & Urbanism to develop 5 wastewater treatment plants and a pumping station, part of an important presidential programme. Enabling the community to access a clean water supply and sanitation systems takes priority over other water-use purposes as it brings a multitude of economic and social benefits.
