EDITOR’S LETTER
A NEW YEAR WITH NEW TALENTS 2011 started for some of us on a really high note and we hope the year continues that way and for others it started with the flu, and lets hope we never get that ever again, but for everyone its a year that we all hope will be a bit better than last year.

This issue focuses on the rising talents within our community especially in music and it seems there is a really strong focus on music as more and more people try their luck with the music industry and we have brought you a few treasures for you to keep a close eye on. We also take a close look at other things which hit some of us such as valentines day and also guides on how to impress those model scouts and how to look all stylish this season with a fashion spread by Raf Simons. But above all this issue has been around spotting talent and taking into account that out there are hundreds of people with extraordinary talents from writing to singing and performing and sometimes it is incredibly difficult to find them.

So congratulations Jason on doing so well and good on you for composing yourself for a few hours under hot lamps and flashing lights.

VERTA HOTEL IS THE FINEST
I had to go and check it out to see what all the fuss was about and was blown over by the spa and especially the restaurant. Its such a glam hotel with such a 1930’s feel with the gold lifts and that amazing twist of the modern. I am sceptical of articles which always push a hotel but this one was worthy of a good review and endorsed by Pam Ann is a sign of total class. Nicky, Los Angeles - US - via Email
WEDDING PLANNER
I really enjoyed reading his article it was a bit of an eye opener into the world of production but also into the man himself. I caught a lot of his show on C4 and it just looks like such a fun but incredibly challenging industry. I am wondering if C4 will commission another show but instead of wedding planning Chris ends up doing other things as I think there is more to him than just planning peoples weddings.

VERTU PRIDE
It may look like a Blackberry but that is where the similarity end if I am honest. I read through the article and was impressed with the features and price wise I still cant afford it but at least this model is so much more in my price range.
There is a sunny side up to this choice, and lets play the devils advocate here. These twins have been given such a grilling for being a little bit annoying but just imagine if they could pull this off with their entry LIPSTICK. The song itself is incredibly catchy, and in true eurovision style has the correct amount of cheesy pop added in to make this song work.
Never know I might end up with one. Carlos, Brazil - via Email
BOWERS IS RIGHT
I really liked this article as it really put a lot of us to rights who seem to think that having bareback with everyone is the thing to be done. I took part in the survey and hope to take part in a lot more. I just wish that this sort of research had come a lot sooner.
So you never know you may see us waving JEDWARD flags closer to the time because it would be pretty funny to wipe the smiles off the face4s of their critics if they were to win. The downside to this is if they were to win, how on earth will Ireland be able to afford to put a eurovision show on in 2012? We just have to wait and see, good on you Louis for backing them all the way!

MODEL BEHAVIOUR Laura Oliveira male model scout for Europa Models and Roy Perestrelo go through a few of the best tips to get that all elusive male modeling contract that all you stunning lads are after. The definitive tips to not only show off what you’ve got but also how to impress the people who will shape and obviously make your career last for decades.
14
The Hair Do Laura: A versatile hairstyle is important to any model someone who can have a style that can be modelled to fit whatever look a client is looking for is a must. Too short and the creative team will not have enough to play with. Roy: There is also the need to be able to have hair that fits your look, and it can be a bit of a chore but if it gets you that contract then its worth every minute you spend on it. The Skin Roy: Stay away from looking like the Tango-man. Over using tanning products will make you look, well an idiot. Stay as natural as you can, a light tan is fine but if you start to resemble a orange leather sofa then your portfolio is more than likely to be rejected. Laura: Also think of your future if you are destroying your skin in tanning salons and tanning products you wont have much of a shelf life as you are bound not to age gracefully. The Body Laura: Lets not mince our words here, be fit. You are going to be the face, body or feet of a product range you have to look after yourself, end of. Roy: I agree with Laura, you are in the industry of looking the best you can but also as
natural as you can, remember being unique is just as important as having that perfect body. The Attitude Laura: There is nothing less attractive than a model walking in thinking the world is at your feet, get over yourself. Be normal and remember the people you are meeting be it agents or photographers can make or break your career so be as nice as you can. Roy: Also you have to remember that on an average day we may be confronted with so many models pitching their services, and we will remember the ones who were nice over the ones who rubbed us the wrong way. Laura: Rubbing the wrong way being the operative word! Portfolio Etiquette Laura: Your portfolio is you business card into the industry its how you show us that you are good at what you do, but there is a fine line between a good portfolio and an over Photoshop’d one. We expect a bit of airbrushing no a mountain of it. Roy: I agree with Laura on this one but there is also a very fine line between decent provocative shots and porn. Keep it clean, and avoid photos of you facing a mirror with a camera-phone even if you can not afford a photographer. Try your best to find a friend to do it or use the auto-timer. If all else fails call ahead and ask, sometimes confidence helps in this case.

here is a sort of infectious quality to the work of La Roux. Every song seems to draw you in closer to this amazing artist, which is actually a group fronted by one of the most remarkable new vocalists of our time. Grammy nominated synth-pop sensation La Roux is excited to announce the digital release of the Gold Edition (Cherrytree/ Interscope) set to hit via Amazon and iTunes on February 8. This exciting set of songs will feature new b-sides, remixes and acoustic versions of tracks from their incredible self titled debut as well as never before seen video footage, artwork and photos. What began in London’s burgeoning underground warehouse scene has since landed 22-year-old Elly Jackson, co-producer co-songwriter co-hort Ben Langmaid and their glittering first release, a long and impressive list of accolades and millions of fans internationally.
over heels in love with La Roux. La Roux have been nominated for two GRAMMY’s for Best Dance Recording (“In For The Kill”) and Best Electronic/Dance Album (La Roux). The beauty of La Roux is that there is a certain individuality that splits its songs from the mainstream throng of musicians. Almost a trait that dare not speak its name, and that is the matter to the metal as it were, that risk to be slightly different and take the music industry for what it once was, a method to express those feelings which are just too commanding to be released on plain old words. So with baited breath we waited for the new album and it is simply an amazing tribute to music itself and a testament to the skills of La Roux to deliver a fundamentally sound piece of music craftsmanship.
So this has definitely been added to the With the Top-Ten smash single “Bulletproof” Q:ID ipod and we await more works from and appearances on The View, Ellen, Good them as once we are hooked we more than Morning America and most recently Dick likely think you will be hooked too. Q:ID MAGAZINE : OPINION
Joe McEldery is unmistakingly the sweetest of the X-Factor winners, but does this count against his future success. So we ask the question, if we had the chance would we put our money where our mouth is an executive produce a Joe McElderry single. I think there is a resounding yes and here is why.
Joe McElderry There are some artists that get pigeon holed into a stereotype in pop music but we think that Joe has so much more to offer in the music industry especially when we heard his whole album. So liberties or not here is what we think, we may not be right but with such a good album we think an extra push needs to be given.
22
J
oe McElderry burst onto our TV sets in 2009 as the winner of X Factor stealing the show with his finalist song “The Climb“ but over a year on and the release of his first album Ambitions, I was asked the question by a quirky music PR Francis Gaggio, would I if given the chance produce Joe McElderry? If I was to say to you now that I would walk away after hearing his first album it would be a down right lie, as I wouldn’t, but if I was asked did he release the right songs for him as a recording artist, then I would say no he didn’t through no fault of his own.. Ambitions as an album is quite a varied collection of songs and there were some amazing sets on there which includes “Real Late Starter“ which had a strong resemblance to Scissor Sisters but would have set him an audience with a more alternative crowd in the music scene.
Music: I guess we would really look into what works for Joe and there is a strong emphasis of high pitched notes which he does well and strongly but would try and be more experimental with his vocals and be that little bit more unique and not so manufactured. Audience: We would take a real close look at his fan base and see where his audience could be expanded through different types of singing. Yes its true, he is a very acquired taste and fits in a bit too neatly into the pop element of music, so play with what he does well and expand his ranges and styles and see what can be done to broaden his appeal. The Rest: Less cheese and more substance to his music, work with the man to write his own and bring out the real Joe in his music.
Real Late Starter shows us that his voice is a bit more varied than the high pitch sounds we here from Ambitions which seems to have lifted the profile of the band Donkey Boy rather than his own.
There seems to be artists that sing what is put in front of them but with Joe in Ambitions it felt a little like that but we all know behind that veneer there is an incredibly strong performer and more to the man that we can see from his music and as a producer I would encourage that element to set itself free and be more himself and less of a pop bunny.
So I guess I have to flitter back to the original question - would I take the risk with McElderry and work on a second album. Of course I would but
But the answer would be yes because McElderry is bankable and I as everyone to not discount this artist just yet and give the guy a chance.
would have to make a few changes to the man that is McElderry. Here are a few. Image: Joe by any standards is attractive but there is a strong porcelain doll appearance to a man who actually given the chance to grow out a bit of stubble is actually someone who pulls of the tougher look a little better than the pretty boy look and since his coming out, could end up clawing some of those girlies he may have lost when he came out.

hite Star Down is the newest rock band to hit our Ipods and radio stations. These guys from Berkshire are here to make a statement and kick start the rock industry again in the wont be long before these guys are firmly in the UK and wont be long before they hit the golden sheets of NME. Talking with WSD Roy Perestrelo discovers how this dynamic rock band is about to make waves.
How was your first gig? (Lloyd) Our first gig was great we had such a positive response from everyone and it was great have that, it gave a us this “holy shit we can actually do this!” Mentality which is what keeps us going. (Mark) Yeah our first gig almost confirmed to me personally that I could be the person people thought I was and that my voice did match the praise it had received , but most of all I was proud of the guys on stage with me , its funny the bond you have with band mates, its more than friendship but unlike love it doesn’t have to hurt at any point lol I guess what i’m trying to say is that these guys complete me in a way , musically they are me and I am them.
WHITE DOWN
So how did you all find each other? (Dan) We all got together from web ads man, I threw an ad up online and the next thing I know “Punk rock drummer” (Lloyd) hits me up asking for a jam with Mark and the guys , after watching some vids I jumped at the chance. What have inspired you guys musically? (Mark) Hmmm well we’ve all been inspired by so many artists and styles of music it would be hard to narrow it down to a certain few , Rock in general has inspired us but so have artists in other genres , people that aren’t contained within one style , Michael Jackson for example (Joe) THE DARKNESS!!!!! So how did you guys all start out musically? (Dan) Easy, I was 13 and my parents bought me a drum kit!! (Mark) I was 5 years old when I first sang on a stage in front of people , it’s something i’ve loved since then! I think we all started fairly young you know.
So this question will get me shot, but you guys going mainstream? (Joe) ”Mainstream”? Man that’s a dirty word in my books, what’s “in” constantly changes, things fall in and out of style all the time but rock and roll is a constant, driving force. Half the groups in the charts these days owe more than they’d like to admit to rock music, it breaks down boundaries. (Mark) Yeah exactly Lady Gaga has said she was heavy influenced by Iron Maiden! What keeps you guys going? (Connor) I’d have to say the thing that pushes me on the most are nay sayers, the people sat there telling us “you can’t do this, you’re going to fail.” Etc etc , I enjoy proving anyone wrong by any means and if I get to rock out on stage with the guys doing it that’s even better.
25
When is your debut release due? (Lloyd) We’re in the stages of writing the material for a début release asap, there’s a lot of good ideas being thrown around but we want the best and we have a few surprise covers up our selves!!. What are your plans for your album? (Connor) The album is going to be full of songs written from individual personal experience, everyone’s getting the chance to put pen to paper and get the ideas out there. So what is your band image like? (Mark) The image is a big part of things for any group, we all have our own look it’s clear we’re all like cogs from the same machine , but images always change and I think that’s a good thing , I myself often have crazy ideas in regards to my hair!! How did you guys learn to sing and play so well? (Dan) Never had a lesson in my life, just picked it all up from watching my heroes on tv. (Mark) Yeah me too , never had any vocal lesions and Lloyd is pretty much self taught! Joe & Connor both attend ACM. What are your plans as a band for the future? (Connor) WORLD DOMINATION!!! Nah seriously we just want to play and have people appreciate us for it and be taken seriously as musicians. So how do you all mix together and are you more metal than the commercial manufactured bands? (Dan) Haha “more metal”? Is that a reference to the piercings!? I think we all get on so well ‘cos we can all have a laugh 26
together and appreciate each others respective talent, I see these guys as a second family. (Mark ,Lloyd) Yeah me and Lloyd can pretty much talk about anything!! So what was it like the first time you guys met? (Dan) The first time I met any of the guys I thought “ah, this will be interesting.” and I was right, in a good way of course. Joe and Connor are great guitarists despite being young, I’ve known guys twice their age that wouldn’t hold a candle to either of them. Lloyd is an absolute thunder foot on the drums his technique is scary to watch but still really exciting as well and Mark, well, the first time I walked into a studio to see this little guy standing there I thought “Nah this ain’t the guy from the recordings I’ve heard”, I just thought there was no way such a big crazy voice could come from someone like that but I was wrong and glad to be so. (Mark) Well good things come in small packages LOL So tell me about your view on rock and sexuality? (Dan ,Joe, Lloyd , Connor) I think we all have a lot of respect for Mark stepping up as a front man in a real macho environment but it’s redundant, your sexuality has absolutely no effect on your talent, guys like Freddie Mercury and Adam Lambert have proved this. So do you guys have the rock star appeal? (Connor) Why is that an offer? (Mark) Well id definitely say I get more attention now!! So what is it like LIVE on stage? (Joe) It’s a massive adrenaline rush to think these people have come to listen to you, even if no-one turned up I’d still get up there and play for the sheer joy of it, rock and roll is it’s own drug. www.myspace.com/whitestardown

Survival Guide – ONLINE SEX Hooking up. Hot fun. Horny meet. The slick little phrases abound, as do the internet sites. But it all comes down to one incontestable fact – it has never been easier for gay men to ply their trade. Anywhere, any time and any position. Back in the dark days if you wanted a bit of release you’d spend hours on your knees in the local cottage or scrambling through the brambles on Hampstead Heath. The option is still there, of course, as a certain 80s pop star can testify. Yet these days with the invention of Grindr you can be perusing Tesco and can be on your back quicker than it takes to rush home and wash that oversized courgette from the fresh fruit ‘n veg section. All it takes is a click of a button. But how exactly do you navigate your way through the maze that is the gay net? How do you weed out the time wasters from those who are going to give you the hot, intense burn you’ve been gagging for or indeed those who are just going to burn you and leave you fuming? Hours spent in chat rooms are as sure a sign of sex addiction as a loyalty card for Chariots, so what should you look out for and avoid along the way? The Narcissists We all know the type. The pictures and blurb say it all: “Muscled fucker looking for power bottoms.” There will usually follow a diatribe of internalised homophobia and fervent narcissism along the lines of: “Real men only. Straight acting, hung. I know what I want and I expect the same from you.” He’ll be standing there in the gym holding a camera up to a mirror to capture those rippling muscles. It’s likely to be the tenth attempt to get the pose right and assiduous photo shopping obviously has nothing to do with the result.
will be a parade of peremptory demands to “flip him over” or “fuck me!” You’ll be bombarded with wish fulfilment, along the lines of “I wish that big cock was buried in my smooth arse.” These men are rarely interested in real meets and after the virtual bean flicking session is over will waltz off despondently to a job in accountancy or the like. The liars If something looks too good to be true, it usually is. These are the guys who look like Abercrombie and Fitch models. Their muscles gleam with oil, but if you meet them in real life you may not be expecting the receding hairline or yellow teeth. The angry reiteration of “no time wasters” often hints at the disappointment they have experienced – and you may too if you don’t heed the warning signs. The Bare backers Vagueness about HIV status is the clue here. If there is a section in the profile that asks them to state their status and they put “do not know” or leave it blank then make sure you ask. If it says “Safe sex: needs discussion,” then make sure you ask them to “discuss.” If they refuse to do so then use your common sense. If they are openly demanding “bare back, breeding” and other sex that is not as safe then make sure you know their status, your status and open a dialogue that leads to a conclusion you are happy with. In fact, even if they assure you that they are negative, make sure you are convinced enough to literally bet your life on it before you agree to unsafe sex. In many ways we have never had it so good as gay men. There are more opportunities out there than ever before. The sexual McDonalds that is the internet can become a sexual playground if you use it in the right way.
The inane The ones who haunt the chat rooms with the dedication of a Brazilian escort working a gay retirement home. Who CUPID DRAW BACK YOUR BOW
Cupid draw back your bow and wait for the credit card statements to flow. Has Valentines day become an ever lasting way of us feeling even worse for not having someone to cuddle up to or a way for companies to fawn even more of us in an ever so depressing market. I explore that issue and sitting next to the front door eagerly awaiting the post to arrive I decide if I will burn any valentines cards arriving, if they arrive that is!
words: Derek Jones-Bennett http://houseofdjb.blogspot.com/ 30
T
he 14th of February a day synonymous with love, chocolate, red roses, cupid and more commonly referred to as Valentine’s Day, is the annual celebration of love and affection between lovers. Valentine’s Day traces its lineage back to 500 AD where it was named after a Christian martyr called Valentine. Traditionally Lovers would express their love for each other by presenting gifts of flowers, chocolate and other symbols that bare the same ‘I love you connotations’ accompanied by the piece de resistance, the all important greetings card, referred to as the ‘Valentine’. However, today’s interpretation of this ‘celebration of love’ has become more of a celebration of status and wealth as lovers hint at gifts from Tiffany’s ,suggest meals at The Ritz or perhaps a little something romantic from Liberty’s of London. Like most things in society today ,this celebration has be embroiled in a consumerist philosophy and through this ethos the true meaning is lost, so its move over cupid make way for the credit cards and cheque book. Through this new interpretation of love, we the modern society have lost the true meaning of love, what it means to give love unconditionally, without the constraints of what we feel we should do as opposed to what ought to be . Now you may ask yourself how can celebrating the love you have for your significant other on this day be construed as conditional, for the most part it’s not, but for so many individuals it’s a source of melancholy vexation and where the ‘definition of true love is, really expensive gifts’. The reality of the matter is, love is dead and sadly we have been consumed by what I feel should aptly be referred to as a ‘rip-off romance’. One points a firm finger towards the consumerist market, those who actually gain the most from this day. Not only does the hospitality industry cash in big time with most restaurants and eateries being packed to bursting point on this night, but many other industries have latched onto a day where unwilling troupes march about the shops aided by the tuneful ching of a cash register symphony as they try to acquire the appropriate gift for their loved ones. In a recent survey carried out by the (NRF) The National Retail Federation, Valentine’s Day this year is expected to turn-over at least $14.1 billion in
the United States alone, with $24 million spent on domestically produced cut roses, $14.4 billion spent on chocolate and cocoa confectionary products and $2.2 billion spent on merchandise sales at jewellery stores. Another point ill-touched upon in relation to Valentine’s Day are those who are single. Valentine’s Day is not only a source of stress and anxiety for those in a relationship but also for those who are not in one, it’s a day where ‘singletons’ are constantly reminded of the fact that they have not got their life together enough to retain a suitable partner. Everywhere they turn they are confronted by a phalanx of mushy Valentine’s Cards, chocolate and dinner meal specials, even man’s most reliable friend the T.V. set ,turns on him airing a plethora of romantic drivel, that weakens even the most ‘ironfaced’ amongst us. This is the one celebration of the year that not only dampens the hearts of the happiest couples, by way of forced and expensive displays of affection, but also to the ‘singletons’ amongst us who do not have the ‘other half’ to carry out such displays of affection with, ‘your dammed if you do and your dammed if you don’t’ appropriately springs to mind here. Perhaps now, considering the economic climate that has engulfed the world over the last year and for the next few years to come, the results may be favourable. Lovers may re-establish the true and organic meaning of what it is to love and show love to each other sans ‘rip-off-romance’. A renaissance d’amour is desperately needed, now even more than ever as we try to brave the harshness’s of The Recession. Remember Valentine’s Day is a celebration of love, not a celebration of the best and most expensive gifts money can buy, hark back to the ideals of our ancestors, a simple box of chocolates, a bunch of carefully collected wild flowers, even a handmade ‘Valentine’s’ says I love you more than a ‘heartless’ store bought piece of Jewellery. The most important aspect of this day is to show your lover how much you truly love them, and is best expressed in the last few lines of a poem by one of my favourite poets W.B. Yeats “But I being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.” 31

THE MAN IN FRONT OF THE LENS
ASHLEY RYDER is no stranger to any of us who have ever seen him either on stage or in the blue, but we take a little time to get to know the man who we have spent more time than we care to admit fawning over, and take a little glimpse into his world in a frank and candid interview. ots of us have got to know you intimately over the years, even if some of us wont admit it but tell us how did you get into the adult entertainment industry? I had wanted to be in porn since I saw my first porn film La Maison Bleue by Cadinot. I loved it. The guys looked amazing, the action was super horny, and the whole feel of the film really got me hooked. His films had a story and I like that. He shot more or less every fantasy I was having at the time. Then I saved up my pocket money and bought boy wonder by Bel Ami out the back of Gaytimes. The guys in Bel Ami films were like gods to me and even though it was soft-core porn (no erections or penetration shots) I loved it. The facial expressions did it all for me. I have a vivid imagination so my thoughts made up what I couldn’t see. I had been asked a few times in my early twenties to be in porn and it took me a while to say yes, as I have never really been that confident about my body having been the chubby kid at school. When I started at the gym my confidence for my body started to come so when Freshwave asked me to make a film for them I said yes. Danny Cullen then asked me to do some internet porn and then a show in New York where he wanted me to fist myself on stage. Getting a free trip to America I said yes (this was my first live show). Arriving back in London after the New York trip Eurocreme where waiting for me and asked me to be an exclusive. I guess I was very lucky it all happened
very fast. in the space of 2 months from the first film I was signed up and stayed with Eurocreme for a year and half. Since then I have worked for most UK studios and now I have just work in America for Raging Stallion and Naked Sword. Was that first time in front of the camera baring all daunting? My First time was not so scary, just very cold. It was February and I was scene parenting with the tall Scot Black for Freshwave’s Manzone dvd The Apprentice. We filmed outside on a stairwell. it was not easy to stay hard in -2 degrees so we had to keep rushing back inside and standing in front of an electric heater then running back out. I loved every minute though of that weekend of filming. Spending 2 days with everyone working in and on the film we became like a small family that weekend, all the cast would sleep in a converted barn and film in the working car garage downstairs in the day. There are a few stories I could tell you about what went on late at night but I guess you can imagine. You have recently gone on to a more mainstream field of film tell us about it. I cant quite believe it really. Its something that I have always wanted to do. I always thought that because of the porn work I have done I would never of had the chance to do it. But in 2009 I got to work with the amazing and extremely cleaver and talented David Hoyle, We performed a stage piece one night at the RVT where he played my uncle and I was his nephew. It went down really well, 33
The director Gary Reich was in the audience that night, he liked the chemistry we had together and thought we could take this to another level.
just to be nominated but when they called us and said that the film had won the BEST FILM award I had to ask him to repeat what he had just said.
We filmed a few small scenes as a short film/ TV series which were screened at the Wilton Music hall. A little time after that the idea for going straight into the film version came.
There was a pause and the programmer told me that wasn’t all and that David and I had won jointly the BEST ACTOR award for the film also. I’m still in shock I had no expectations of what would become of the film Uncle David, to have been in it for me was enough but getting this recognition all of us involved in the film are just so amazed.
We spent many months as the group we now call the Avaunt-Guard Alliance. David and I stayed in character for ages. Every time we would meet or call or text we were the characters in the film, building a background around each character continuously, where they had come from and where they were now. So by the time we got onto set (as the film had no script just a planed out story arch) the dialogue came naturally. “Uncle David” was filmed in real time in a caravan on the Isle of Sheppey, so for David and I it wasn’t so much a fictional story we were living it. We are really lucky as it only took 3 days to film on Halloween at the end of 2009 and by the march 2010 it was screen at the London LGBT film festival and was the quickest selling film that year. Since then its been screened over the world and hopefully soon out to buy on DVD You also won an award tell us more. At the Paris film festival screening we were told it had been nominated which is great 34
I hope this will lead to more films in the future. I know that as a group were planning on filming another real soon. Your also a keen wrestler we hear and have seen, how did that idea come about? I got into wrestling November 2009, I was working with Danny Cullen at the Eagle London in Vauxhall hosting for his weekly Wednesday night party. A guy came up to me one night at the bar and said I want to wrestle you so we created the theme and it hit off big time, we had 3 themes that we would rotate each month and wrestling was the popular one out of the three. . Its called Grapple101 and its every Wednesday from 9 till 2 am. We get guys coming from all over the UK and all over the world to come down and wrestle. I enjoy it because its different each week
you never know who is going to turn up to wrestle. There are some big plans coming to grapple101 a nice new website and some hot events happening you can follow the group on Facebook and Twitter and see some of the videos of the wrestling online on YouTube You don’t have to come and wrestle we get a lot of guys just coming to watch. I hope to see you all down there in 2011 Are you diversifying into more mainstream film or even directing one?
with the amazing Colby Keller for Naked Swords GoldenGate series so I cant wait to see that one as I think i’m in love. He has got to be one of my best fuck scene partner’s of 2010 he was just so perfect and man his eyes “Colby Keller He’s so hot right now” As for the mainstream work I have been asked to read for a few directors next year so I hope that will lead to more short and feature films I will keep you guys posted on that one when I can.
There may be a few products released next I would love to. Directing one would be great, year also but I cant say anything more than I’m writing a few short films as we speak so that right now... when they are finished I will see if I can get funding to start on those. I love acting both Any advice to any keen budding talent out in porn and mainstream film, on camera is there? where I feel most comfortable. Just Ask. All porn production company’s I’m hoping that Uncle David will open a few have websites with a model application form doors for me into the straight acting world FILL IT OUT (especially when you see the but its still early days for me. one on the soon to come ASHLEYRYDER. COM website) I think it was harder when the So what does the future hold for Ashley internet didn’t have such a big part to play in Ryder it. I’m in the process of setting up my own porn website which I hope will be out in the new year. It will feature mainly live web-cam shows from my home/studio, but I will be getting behind the camera as well, as I have some ideas I would like to try out for the site so I can upload some hot pre recorded content for people who sign up. Its my first attempt at a small level production and with the team I have im sure it will be good. Keep you eyes open for ashleyryder.com I have just been to America and filmed for Raging Stallions so there are some more harder ff videos coming out and I did a scene
Like you had to know the director or be a friend of a model or how ever people found models back then but now its all on line. Get some good pics they don’t have to be studio shots just you as you are and clear. Its as simple as that the companies know what they are looking for so at the end of the day the worst you that will happen is you don’t hear back. Just put your self out there. Its not easy and if you want it to be a carrier its hard work.

THE KIXX
This brilliant new band from Reading has hot our radar a few months ago and we hope to catch up pretty soon with them but for the moment here is a brief insight into them. www.thekixxband.com
T
here’s a lot more to them than most pop bands. The Kixx don’t do dance routines or sit on stools. They’re way too busy causing chaos by playing their music for real. And it really is their music – all ten tracks on their debut (as yet untitled) album were written by the band. That’s the same four, good-looking lads from Reading – now aged between 18 and 20 – who have been writing songs and organising their own gigs since two of them were 12. There is a certain uniqueness to this band as they try and split themselves from the typical mainstream pop that we are used to and be a little bit different. We hold fast and steady for the revival or the no nonsense style music from boy bands and await what the KIXX have installed for us in 2011 and whatever it is, its bound to be good. 53

MUSICFOCUS >>> Hitting the streets BOY BANNED Street Lights Debut Single Available: now. Music Type: Winner of X-Factor but with a difference, she has gone out and actually been a real breath of fresh air.

oyBanned are the newest boy band to hit our ipods and fast becoming a firm favourite with the girls and the boys too. We had interviewed them back in issue 2 before they released their début single “Street Lights“ and also with a recent KlubKidz remix has pushed these four young men firmly into our play lists. With an interesting band name which kind of throws a case full of cd’s into the face of the current music industry, they have taken their vocal skills
and given us a launch single which has a calming but unique sound to it. Not following the high production creations by some of their competitors but keeping the song simple and clean has given them a bit of a leg up in terms of us listening to it all. Not to be compared with JLS and The Wanted, BoyBanned bring us something different and in a format which we are more than familiar with. Their recent online music-cast gave us a preview into how the boys work together but
also gave us an insight into how they can actually sing without the aid of lots of studio enhancements and this alone is something they need to be proud of. So as debut singles go, this is not a bad attempt and the video is pretty funky too, and gives us lots of opportunities to get a good glimpse of our favourite member(s). Street Lights is available on itunes and also via their web site, a must have for 2011 CLICK>> http://www.boybanned.com/

DEVLIN Blood Sweat and Tears
Jessie J Do it like a dude
This young but incredibly talented opera singer has struck a very deep chord with us. His strong and rich vocals are a joy to listen to and we cant wait to hear his debut album when it comes out.
This rap album is filled with the musical stuff we all want to hear, personal and deep meaning, but above all an amazing triumph and very hot on the heels of Prof Green.
Definitely the lady GaGa of the UK. With her striking looks and unshakable lyrics she is the one to watch.
And believe is the moment it does we will be right there. CLICK> http://www.callumbicknell.com/

ELLIE GOULDING Bright Lights ‘Lights’ is a catchy pop record like Little Boots. Not that that’s necessarily a cork-popper: fact is, there’s nothing here groundbreaking enough to justify the critical frothing. It’s largely straight-ahead folk-pop dappled with a mild ground-frost of sequenced beats, Auto-Tune, and synth sizzles. When it’s not KT Tunstall, it’s Pink. When it’s neither one nor the other, it’s both at once. Lady Gaga is blasting more fresh and interesting ideas out of her left bosom than Goulding exhibits on this entire album. It seems the 2010 tipsters were focusing less on innovation, more on commercial oomph. And this Ellie has in spades: take singles ‘Starry Eyed’ and ‘Under The Sheets’, the spangliest tracks here. Very much an angelic Cheryl Cole. http://www.elliegoulding.com/

THE HAS FINALLY ARRIVED Paul Timson aka The Boy Genius is probably one of the best talents to hit the UK music scene since the good old days of ska. As one of his lyrics says “Be Unique“ and he has done just that, blended old and new to create a true work of genius. Bringing in a wealth of musical flare and a modern twist on ska, we take a look at this amazing new music artist.
58
A
fter run of trying different music styles and MIKE BLISS formats we think that Paul Timson aka
The Boy Genius has finally hit the music hit button with his genuinely amazing mix of ska and pop sounds. We think that this could be the future of modern music. TBG has created an interested mix which has a US feel to it but also we found it easy to relate to as the subject matter he has chosen is something that we can all relate to and with some interesting sounds in “On The Dance Floor“ and “The Story So Far“. With a strong ska influence and a gritty but clear English accent makes his work feel so unique to what is available on the market at the moment. Also he is not afraid to throw in the odd rude word too, making his sound original and real We think that 2011 is going to be very much year of The Boy Genius and we also hope to see him collaborating with the likes of Prof Green, Jessie J and even Devlin, as this is an artist who has that musical skill which seemed to have died off with the dawn of reality music shows where more unique sounds are cast aside for commercial sounds. But he has managed to mix both commercial and unique in a totally addictive blend. So everyone visit his space on the net and spread the word. True Genius. REBORN Claire Sanderson reminisces on the works of Jason Prince and where she as a music agent herself see’s his future in her platinum ball - and its very bright.
JASON PRINCE
O
ne half of the KlubKidz club duo, Jason Prince is synonymous when it comes to club remixes and even his own work too. But there is more to Jason than meets the eye and 2011 is certainly year of the Prince. With a sudden resurgence of Jason’s work returning to our screens we see since this blonde boy wonder first appeared on our music machines all those years ago, this master DJ one half of the KlubKidz production team has shown that he has far from lost all that original zest that he had when he first started out. His work with Angie Brown and Melissa Totten is unforgettable but for me I can still remember most probably one of my favourite works of his SKY HIGH Sleaze Sisters Anthem Mix was and remains one of my favourite and it still survives on my play list all those years on. Also lets not forgive the synonymous video for GIFTED which is going a fair bit back but impressively Jason has not aged a day since he starred in that video, we are incredibly jealous. But even after all these years there is still that magic and we found it recently in the BOYBANNED KlubKidz remix of their debut single StreeLights which once again brought the spot light back onto Jason Prince and KlubKidz as a fast riser again on the club circuit. But viewing his past career we can not forget Electric Dreams - one of his early works and once again there is that resurgence of that classic style of pop music but with a modern twist. As much as
we look back and videos sometimes date the production there is an unmistakable trade mark of Jason is to create that defined mix of electric pop and mix it finely into a club hit. We also trawling through his vast collection of music over the years we found an acoustic version of The Greatest Love of All. Showing us how diverse his vocals are, ok we are not saying he is a vocal god, but we see that he has the ability to create a sound that even after sitting on a shelf for a while, when you listen to it all again it still sounds as moving as it did the day it was made and that is the mark of a great song-master. But there is something that we think Jason should go down the route of. KlubKidz as a production unit have an incredible palette of skills that is similar to the skills shown in Bruno Mars and we think that there is a space here for Jason Prince and his production outfit. We are paid for an opinion and we are not afraid to say that his talents should be directed at creating a massive hit for 2011 and not to be afraid to make that big jump into the commercial music world. Very few DJ’s and producers last the length which Jason Prince has laster and there is a definite talent here which needs to be exploited. So Jason there is a gap out there for you electro-club house style of music, and just needs to be given that extra push to get out there. We don’t want to be writing this same article next year and you not having won any Grammys or at least a handful of MTV awards. So get cracking, the music world awaits. http://www.jasonprinceofficial.co.uk/ 61

BOOK REVIEWS The Big Book of Gaydar (Uncut) JockBoy26 Now why did the bods at Gaydar towers never come up with this before, because it is simply a little gem of a book. We unwrapped it feverishly when it arrived and read it and were amazed at how honestly it was written. JockBoy26 has actually taken the reality of online dating be it for fun or a relationship and stripped it down to the bare essentials. We were blown over with the vast amount of details on area statistics and profile statistics and also how to make an amazing profile. This book will become as much as part of our culture as Life Love and Lube was but I think there definitely needs to be a volume 2 to this little master piece and go further into the detail behind the online dating cornerstone that is gaydar. So this is a must get for all those who are new and old to the world of gaydar.

Dear Annette, Basically, i haven’t been going out with him for very long but I do really like him, maybe even love.. I dunno, I don’t want to be too clingy or anything but like normally he says really cute stuff like all the time .. so I don’t think i really have to worry about it. But recently cusa exam time and stuff he will text to start a wee convo and I will reply but then he will say something like il let you get on with revision as if he is trying to avoid a conversation and i would say like no its fine im not working at the moment anyways .. his response is normally like text me later and let me know how it goes .. but how does that make sense when he is the one who starts the conversation first? Why would he do that if he didnt want to talk? also he is soo shy .. its really cute .. but I dont want to pressure him into anything he doesnt want to do .. not that I would cus im not really ready for much anyways .. but how to you know when to make a move or not cus hes generally too shy to make them himself... Is this a dead end relationship? he send the cutest messages everr though .. hes soo sweet when he does talk .. do I maybe just talk to him to much ? gahh so many questions .. also is there any cute couple songs that arent too like full on ?? Thanks soo much .. any replies would bee SOOO appreciated Thanks Carlie xx Dear Carlie,
trying to read it, and to show that out there, is a need to grammar and English to really be taught a little better at school. So I think we need to firstly look at your relationship and there is a bit of a communication issue that needs to be dealt with, but if your communication is like the letter you wrote I think you both need an interpreter to help you both out with what must be a very interesting conversation to watch, and sit there taking notes and hope that subtitles are available. I personally think you are worrying about nothing really, you both don’t need to be attached by the hip and sometimes he may just not feel like talking to you through the sheer exhaustion of how difficult it will be to understand what you are on about. OR He is a gayer and behind your back he is shagging around with either a fella or if he is playing the field both, but threat not. Sit him down and just be a big girl and ASK, there is no point moaning about it, so ask him what the deal is and maybe there isn’t anything that can be done. But if there is then this is the time to do it or you will be forever wondering, but in the meantime get some lessons in communication and I am more than sure that will help out. And if your fella is reading this drop us a line, we would love to hear your side of the story. Annette x
Well I am not sure I know where to start with this one but firstly we didn’t edit your letter as I personally thought it was a work of art 65
