Could the connections be “the larger, the simpler? We are asking this because companies have changed revolutionary as result of rapid development of technology -- more employees, more serving fields and more complex connections in business yet the proficiency in the office have suffered from it.
01 Virtual space of the Internet gives us a good answer as Collaboration Software. How could an architecture do the same thing in a tangible space? We found a delicate designed three-dimensional spatial logic in this kind of software that could translate into an architectural approach applying to an advertising agency, in which a "simpler" connection is urgently needed.

Advertising companies have engaged in much more areas nowadays, and it leads to a change in their organization structure. With the hierarchy in the organization grows deeper and the process of infor mation delivery becomes more complicated, the cost of resources collecting gets higher.
Fields involved of Advertising Agency
With a distinct layering between superior and subordinate, it needs greater efforts to passing information, and sometimes it may cause message losses.
Traditional Working Pattern
Layers gradually fade away from the company structure, communication becomes more and efficient and easy.

FLOW TOWARD FUTURE Women Heritage Museum Design
Academic | Individual Instructor |Kathryn Dean Location | Central Park, NY
The heritage museum is trying to show the history of the women character that they can warmly accept everything but strong enough to fight against the world.
02 The project begins with a RULED and UNRULY exercise using unruly instinct and to create apertures that direct light. Models tested the performance in actual daylight over the course of a full day and project the performance through the seasons.

The heritage museum is standing on a big hard rock at the top of a grassy slope with trees on both sides. Located right in front of the American Museum of Natural History, it poses the gesture of a tough woman facing the ruled history that was written by males -- yet it still has arms warmly open to life.
In the interior, sunlight is introduced from a vertical slot. Two curving walls record sunlight over the course of a day. From morning to the noon the light will gradually move and fade along the first curvy wall; around noon time there is a contrasting point that the light move from weakest to the brightest; then it will gradually fade again. The movement of light represents the constant movement of feminism throughout history, and then, the future.
THE WOMEN H E R I TA G E M U S E U M
Insert the sunlight model on the site. With the exact height of the sun in NY, it will be able to trace the sunlight spot and then generate the height of the orientation of the two pieces of the main wall.
Occupy the space by two-volume: one is facing downhill and stretches the arms along with the trees; the other is a bridge that will be able to connect two sides of the park.
The flow of the form starts along with sunlight trance on the “sun-dale wall, then goes up and looks back upon where it began and the Natural History Museum.
Adjust the interior experience with the exterior curves to a harmonious result.

In addition to the historical events, the relief also includes the sunlight track from sunrise to sunset of each day and from summer to winter of each year. So visitors in the museum will see and feel the flow of time and also the history course, a year, and a day condensed in the air. The future wall is left blank, for people to imagine, modify and make effort to lead to a better future.

DRAW OUT THE HORIZON Daycare center and Culinary school
Academic | Individual Instructor |Adrian Luchini Location | Earth City, St. Louis, MO
The project is a combination of a daycare center and culinary school. It relieves the childcare need of workers in Earth City and provides quality food for residents and workers in the area. Covering with a curvy, climbable roof, the project shows a welcoming gesture by softly connecting the space above the empty roofs of two warehouses to the linear green area on the ground that exists between them. This space, originally conceived as mere utilitarian for the circulation of trucks, is now transformed into a landscaped boulevard of sorts, becoming de facto an important open space at one of the access points of the area.
03 The fluid surfaces that weave together , bridge two programs, as well as the landscape and the expansive warehouses. By breaking the boundary of sky and earth and joining the wall and floor, this timeless loop of space and its double program contributes to the lacking needs of Earth City. . The extra roof surface of the warehouses will be covered with solar panels taken advantage of the uninterrupted exposure to the south, thus able to generate enough energy to become self-sufficient. Last but not least, this project in its deliberate extended spread proposes to capitalize and celebrate the horizontal prevalent condition of the business park, where the timid monumentality inherent in the place is seldom celebrated.
Earth City in St. Louis is a business park full of big single-story warehouses and wide truck lanes and empty parking lots. However, the servicing facilities are insufficient in the entire neighborhood.
Instead of making space by stacking on vertical, we can use the surfaces that are existing, the ones that absorbing sunlight and exposed to the rainwater but did not utilize them well. Also, make diagonal connections to transfer the sky to the earth will add layers to the tedious and generic big boxes in Earth City. Embrace the space other than making space. And make the warehouses more than storage and make the landscape more than a park.

The establish of a such space would also serve for the adults for overlayed needs. Advance with the idea that use the diagonal to bridge and expand the definition of the space, and it is also necessary to search the dialectical quality hiding inside the program. So offer the adults that spend all the time in a cubic office at work a relaxing fluid space, and provide a serious food quality cafeteria, at the same time delicately divided height of space is what needs to explore.

Diagram: Basing on the goal to offer the adults a fluid experience, the adult’s side started with several circles that hold the need for cooking art classes and semi-enclosed space that guides people’s view. Then wrap them with two punctuated bands that allow the activities not only fluid inside but the same outside. The bands extend and rotate towards the day-care side and become floors instead of walls. They cross each other on the section, to create smaller, hide-able, playful space for children. Roof of the original warehouse: The columns of the original warehouse will be maintained as it was, and reinforced with the concrete structure to support the new part of the roof which will build the new project on. The rest part of the warehouse will maintain the same, except there will be implant solar panels to get a self-sufficient electric supply.

NEW SUSPENSION Natural construction Design of Youth Hotel in Rural Area Academic | Teamwork Collaborator |Luo Jingwen Instructor |Adam Brillhart, Jiang Weihua Location |Huantan, Zhejiang, China
Based on the wooden structure of the Prototype House Project, the “New Suspension project is an upgrade of the traditional suspension and it creates a brand new atmosphere. The supporting components visualize the flexibility and strength of log as the construction material. Besides, the supporting components, roofs and enclosures are interlaced while maintaining respective features.

The sequence of units creates a Rhythm of LIGHT AND SHADE
Various combinations of meta units are displayed here and the second floor, with its distinctions, is the extension of the first floor. Each joint of the structure has its unique feature and it attracts our attention. The strength of log is presented through the supporting components propping the whole structure while the tilt of the components shows the flexibility. The flexible connection of the wooden roofs and supporting components, to some extent, allows replacement of fragments. Located at a depression, the building sits on the southern bank of a river which flows westward. The height difference of the building and surroundings leads to seclusion. As we walk down the stairs enclosed by thick bamboo forests, the sound of flowing water attests that we are entering a secluded space.

In traditional Chinese architecture, no matter bold or slender, old or new, logs as the fundamental construction material can be used anywhere. In modern architecture, however, the development of woodprocessing Industry and geometric trends of design result in the popularity of regular-shaped wood. The industrial processing makes wooden components easier to joint and yet some natural merits (e.g. flexibility) are gone. However, adoption of logs can simplify the processing, reduce the demands of resources and thus is more environment-friendly.
Inspired by different scales of traditional Chinese residences, we try to create various atmospheres like seclusion, openness and silence. The building looks quaint thanks to the wide use of logs and, nevertheless, the way that the logs are jointed shows modernism.

GYMNASIUM IN VILLA 31 Buenos Aires Studio Academic | Individual Instructor |Gustavo Cardon, Gerrado Caballero Location | Villa 31, Buenos Aires, Argentina
At the edge of a well-known and studied shanty town – Villa 31 (future Barrio 31) and in the proximities of the business district of a big metropolis, the site could not contain more explicit third world conditions and a more intense urban experience. We were trying to propose a Gymnasium that acts as a Community activity center and link between different urban fabrics at the edge of an informal settlement.
Two sides of the city is showing a contracting separation by the railways in between.
I chose the site by the highway where there are several big trees which is very rear in the villa. The big trees are naturally creating a plaza that could allow people playing sports under the shade. Additionally, a new ministry of education is being built near this site, which will have 1500 people from both parts of the city working and study here. And new residential buildings are under construction, the site will be a good link among people from the city, villa, and new residents. The Ctiy

RUNNING BRIDGE Practical Construction Pavilion Design And Build Academic | Teamwork Lei Qihan, Tang Ziyu, Luo Jingwen, Lou Hua Instructor| Mara Partida & Hector Mendoza
A form of space is not the only story the structure tells. Continuously twisting surface provide people various experiences on both structure itself and its surroundings. Materials and structure finally have a chance to have a conversation with people’s body, when they linger around or climb inside. Like skyline the tunnel framed, and the mottled light and shadows dropped from bamboos’ gaps, gesture and expression showed in this pavilion, make themselves even more vivid during contacting with people.
The Meet by chance of UK Pavilion and the artwork of Barbara Hepworth has been a great inspiration to us. The interior of UK pavilion is lit by the sunlight that comes in along the length of each rod, and by the same time, the outline of the building is so indefinite that you cannot draw a line between construction and sky for they already merge into each other. Barbara Hepworth is keen on changing from simplified naturalistic forms to purely abstract shapes. Forms like holes and wires that she uses contribute to a continuous space.
