Lobby Okhta Center is an innovative project aimed at the creation of a new city area on the territory of a former industrial area comprising a modern business center and wide public functions: office premises, museum of modern art, theater and concert hall, stadium, cafes, shops, restaurants. The highest floor of the tower will host a public observation deck.
I worked in different teams on this project, for example, concourse team, office team (surrounded buildings around the tower) and tower team. I spent most of the time in concourse team, co-working with experts of different areas to develop the design in the field of road, car park, fire escape, and security and so on.

This project is especially important for St Petersberg, and it’s huge. It contains a tower which is going to be the highest tower in Europe, 4 surrounded buildings and a huge entrance hall, connecting all the buildings.
Concourse team needed to co-work with all the other teams to solve problems like structure system, circulation, logistic, security, etc. Concourse team is also responsible to design the museum, shop, and restaurant which are all located around the lobby.

The site sits at the heart of Amsterdam - Dam square, where the Royal Palace and War Monument locate. No doubt, it’s the cultural, political, and commercial center of the Netherlands. It is required to put a shop on this unique spot. No matter how busy and crowd the plaza is, it’s still hard to design a vertical shop in this “horizontal” country. Also, this extraordinary location requires a strong linkage between this shop and the city life. A careful study of vertical shopping was carried out. It is found that the design of anchor spaces is very important for vertical shops. At the same time, the city is planning to develop this area into a high class shopping area, also an art/ fashion center. A few “public” spaces are merged into this shop, working as anchor spaces to drive the customers/ visitors up.
ACADEMIC WORK Cross layer circulation: Link the anchor spaces; encourage visitors to move upwards
Feature wall (product displaying wall): Turn the circulation spaces into exhibition spaces

The Teaching Hotel for Hong Kong Polytechnics retains the original staff residential function, but subsumes it into an overall composition that now comprises a 300room hotel as well as a teaching complex. In the process of fulfilling the client’s aspiration, the architecture reflects Hong Kong’s unique phenomenon whereby seemingly conflicting uses are amalgamated into an integral whole. I joint the team at the further design stage. I worked mainly on the plan, interior and elevation design.

MODERN CITY MUSEUM
Site Characters: Hong Kong, Wai Chai • It’s located in one of the oldest district of HK. • The high buildings standing on the both sides of street leave the narrow, vertical street space. • The billboards hanging over the busy street build up the typical HK image. Design process 1 - Irregular-shaped “blocks” separating, attaching, and overlapping with each other, representing the mixed culture of HK 2 - Separated blocks are linked up by curved floor slabs; Solid facades are opened and interesting spaces between the city and the museum are naturally born.
Process model 1
3 - Staircases are organized along the facade to form a connection space between the inside and outside; Pixelized image are used on the facade. Diagrams 1- Impression to HK buildings:
• “Section”: the staircases on the façade of my building, remind the memory to the old HK building, part of which has been deconstructed and left the sign the staircases on the façade. • “Picture”: the walls in my design are not that realistic, they recall us some representative images of the city. Existing building on my site
2 - Stairs
•The circulation space serves as the exhibition space at the same time •Views to the inside/exhibition and outside/city exchange at the time walking on the staircases.

MODERN CITY MUSEUM
Plan • We can see here that the G/F which is open for the public can be used as the changeable exhibition area to place interactive art works. • The staircases lead the visitors to explore this exhibition as well as the city at the same time. Elevations: • The elevations remind us the impression to the HK streets with billboards hanging over the head.
Elevation
Sections: • As a Museum of City, You can see the exhibitions of city/building/history related themes which take the full uses of the space. Structure • The walls on the longitude side are taken as the main structure to provide the vertical support.

with the service cores at the both ends providing the lateral support. • The suspending structure is chosen to provide the additional vertical support. It minimizes the structure in the middle of the exhibition. Also, the ground floor can be left totally free from columns.
