PROJECT 01: CONNECTED INDIVIDUALS Community Healing Garden Design

Academic Work : Qiuyi Sun / Individual / 2023.07 / 24618m² The one-child policy is a special population policy that China enacted in the 1980s to control population growth. Today, after 30 years, the phenomenon of empty nesters caused by the one-child policy is becoming more and more serious, especially in those second - and third-tier cities. In this design, we hope to bring empty-nesters more sense of life connection through social activities and contact with nature, so as to improve their spiritual life in their later years and eliminate negative emotions such as loneliness brought by the absence of children.

DESIGN GENERATION

Inspired by the division of cells and the transformation of matter. Social activities are indispendable in peoples’ lives, people also comes from cells. Therefore, cells are used instead of people, and communication between human is presented in the form of cell communication.

PROJECT 02: MINE SCAR TO ECOLOGICAL PIT Abandoned Mine Rehabilitation

Academic Work : Qiuyi Sun / Individual / 2023.04 / 1778406m² The site is located in Maanshan city, Anhui province. It used to be an open pit iron mine. The mine is now abandoned, but open-pit iron ore still leaves a lingering legacy of pollution. The surface soil of the site is solidified, the soil is acidic, and heavy metal ions exceed the standard. The whole site is in urgent need of improvement and reconstruction. The design aims to repair the contamination at the site while providing a place that can both educate people about the mine’s history and encourage people to play.

The southeast side of the site is higher, the central part is lower, and the existing mining road leads from the higher ground to the bottom of the mine.

The height difference Large mining trucks is very large, and some have made the bottom areas are too steep, so it of the mine uneven, and is necessary to consider many native plants and setting up a corridor animals have lost their bridge to connect the habitat. space of different areas.

4

Mining causes a large amount of dust pollution to accumulate at the bottom of the mine. On dry and windy days, large amounts of granular slag hang down towards the city center.

The site used to be an open-pit iron mine, and after mining activities, the soil will contain a large amount of associated metal elements such as lead, copper and zinc. This design adopts the first planting of herbs and then planting woody plants to gradually absorb the remaining metal elements in the site. Based on the climatic environment and soil conditions of the site, colorful grass, artemisia and other herbs are first planted, and camellia, rhododendron and other shrubs are interspersed, and woody plants such as parasol and poplar are gradually planted under the natural succession to form a colorful new park

PERSPECTIVE Create planting areas according to the original terraced terrain of the site and purify the soil through the succession of plants. Visitors can also enjoy the plants along the way. In the spacious stepped plan, camping areas are set up to provide an outdoor wilderness survival experience.

The design did not significantly change the topography of the site, but chose to adapt to the topography of the site. On the more gentle steps, the mining history museum is built and cultural and educational activities such as popular science are carried out. The trail is set at the hollow of the site, allowing visitors to experience the beauty of walking in the forest.

According to the terraced topography of the site, a covered bridge is designed to allow visitors to walk between the tree canopy and enjoy the beauty from wasteland to oasis. The lowest part of the site is an ecological depression, which forms a wetland landscape in the rainy season. Surface water landscape layers of plants after purification gather here, forming a rich water ecosystem.

PROJECT 03: WEAVING CITY ENERGY Urban Greenway Update Plan

Academic Work : Qiuyi Sun / Individual / 2022.09 / 735716m² The project is located in Binhu District, Hefei City, Anhui Province. The original site is a park made of backfill soil during the construction of Binhu District. Due to the continuous development near the site, the existing facilities of the site could not meet the requirements of the users, so the site was upgraded. The site is connected by sports corridor Bridges to meet people’s needs for outdoor activities. It is also hoped that the energy of the site can be released and the mutual transformation of energy can be completed through the three aspects of people, plants and water system

The site divides the internal energy into three parts: people, plants and water. Human energy comes from various outdoor activities inside the site, water energy comes from potential energy brought by poor terrain, and plant energy comes from itself. The site is connected by a curvilinear corridor bridge, which strings all areas of the site as a whole, and sets up relatively perfect functional areas in each sub-area, making each sub-area a relatively complete individual.

PROJECT 04: STREET SAFETY FOR HER Urban Pocket Space Design

Academic Work : Qiuyi Sun / Individual / 2022.06 / 4167m²

Women are photographed

The venue is located in Mapo Hongdae Business District, one of the most popular places for young people in Seoul, South Korea. As the country with the highest sex crime rate of the three East Asian countries, Hongda at night lurks many dangers for women. The site is selected in the existing free public space of Hongda Block. Through the design of the existing site, the construction of telephone booths, shelters and a series of combined seats accompanied by street lights is intended to provide safe facilities for women to rest at night. At the same time, telephone booths and shelters are equipped with direct access to local police and related agencies. To keep local women safe at night.

Women are followed

Women are followed UNFIED SILLA PERIOD AND BEFORE Women are responsible for sacrifice, and women contribute to the family and social economy through textiles. This is the higher status of women.

GORYEO PERIOD The status of women fell to the bottom, monogamy was abolished, and women no longer participated in political and economic production activities.

JOSEON PERIOD As the country was annexed by Japan, the status of women began to improve. Women’s schools were established but the subjects taught were mainly tea ceremony.

MODERN TIMES As South Korea’s fertility rate falls, gender tensions are stoked, and women are more likely to encounter dangerous situations when traveling alone at night.

Mapo Hongdae is a large business district with a bar area close to Seoul Metro Line 2 and Line 6. And the internal roads of the bar area are messy and densely built, which is easy to produce safety problems at night. The project selects two existing open Spaces within the site to build shelters, and the other two places with spacious roads to design public seats and street lights to provide safe places for women to rest for a short time. One of the seats is surrounded by a small garden, which can also be used as a public activity space during the day.

DESIGN CONCEPT & STRATEGIES In Hongdae’s bar district, night and day are very different scenes, and at night, there is often a disadvantageous situation against women

We hope that by placing seating and bright street lights along the wider roads, we can provide a safe place for passing women to rest

In some of the rooms that have set up small shelters, we have set up a network to communicate with the local police and other agencies to help women

We also set up some bookcases and chairs in the shelter, so that women who have been hurt can rest and calm down.

We hope that the establishment of the Bar Street shelter can solve the problem of abuse against women in Hongda to some extent

A covered shelter is set up in a wider public space for women to temporarily escape or seek help when they encounter danger at night. A small activity area is set up next to the shelter, and a small garden can also be used during the day.

DESIGN SCENARIOS The original public space next to the traffic road was transformed, and a series of telephone booths and combined seats were built to provide a short rest space for passing women. At the same time, the telephone booth connects the local police and relevant agencies. For use by women in case of danger.

This is our test plot, and you can see the iris we planted in our junior year.
