south of the border: - brunswick heads

The perfect seaside destination on the northern rivers of NSW

Now there’s a new relaxation destination that’s also buzzing with fabulous things to see and do. Brunswick Heads is the perfect combination of seaside charm and coastal cool. Here’s our essential guide to the perfect Brunswick getaway.

FOOD

Perhaps it’s the proximity to the ocean that fuels the fresh, delicious cuisine of this neighbourhood. But we think the local chefs’ commitment to sourcing fresh, seasonal produce, then adding skill and imagination, is behind the incredible dining experiences.

FLEET

Diners book three months ahead to sample the mouth-watering, modern Australian a la carte or degustation-style menu. The dishes are ever-changing, depending on freshness and availability. The beverage list focuses on small, sustainable and mindfully produced wines.

life in the fast lane

We talk to the hottest name in racing right now, Abbie Eaton.

WHEN Abbie Eaton got the call that she was to test out for Amazon’s UK motoring show The Grand Tour, she thought one of her mates was playing a prank. The call was no prank, and

Abbie’s incredible driving skills, as well as her easy charm won her the part of the show’s test driver (beating out a host of big name hopefuls such as ex-F1 racer Mark Webber).

Joining Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, Abbie is now a bona fide TV star, with a legion of fans, however her ambitions have always been behind the wheel, and she is moving closer and closer to fulfilling those dreams.

Throughout 2018 and early 2019, 26-year-old Abbie has been visiting Australia on a quest to secure a full time drive in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.

Her achievements thus far are solid and impressive, including multiple British Championships, wins in British GT categories and the Blancpain Endurance Series (the first female ever in the history of the championship to win her class), and competing at the Silverstone Classic event in a Peter Brock

replica VK Commodore (where she not only defeated the likes of former 2.0 Litre Touring Car Champion John Cleland, but also won a host of Aussie fans).

The big goal, the bucket list dream is to be on the grid of the 2019 Dunlop Super2 Supercars Championship with a view to graduating to the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship in 2020.

“If I could pick my ultimate championship to race in, it would be Australian Supercars,” she told RedBull in an interview recently. “Racing in something like that would push you to the absolute limit, and competing with the very best drivers would ultimately bring you on to be one of the best too.”

That dream may not be too far off, having come to Australia over recent months to test drive for Matt Stone Racing at Queensland Raceway, which is considering her for a Super2 drive in 2019.
