The BioBin a unique waste disposal solution The TerraCyclic™ BioBin is a sanitary and clinical waste disposal system, the wall mounted or floor standing unit holds replaceable cartridges that can be quickly removed and replaced with a fresh cartridge. Used cartridges are disposed of into external waste trolleys. Cartridges come complete with `Saniquill’s` an approved sanitizer and deodoriser. As the BioBin cartridge is biodegradable it requires minimal cleaning. The plastics and chemicals used in the design of the BioBin cartridges have been uniquely blended to produce a material that is biodegradable. Saniquill is approved by the National Poisons & Hazardous Chemical Information Centre as biodegradable and safe to return to the earth. The flexibility of the BioBin: The unique design of the BioBin means it is the perfect solution for all sanitary and clinical waste reducing handling and cross infection it is a multi functional unit available in three sizes; 1. Small unit: (7 litres) tends to be used for soft dressings in small treatment rooms or as a sanitary unit in small cubicles. 2. Standard unit: (13 litres) is mainly used for sanitary waste. 3. Large unit: (26 litres) can be used in all clinical areas as a standard clinical waste disposal unit for soft dressings. The replacement cartridge system has been designed not to be re-used so reducing the risk of cross infection from bacterial growth that can be present on standard clinical waste lid and chute areas through ineffective cleaning or condition. They are made from tough plastic or a combination of plastic and stainless steel. They require minimal cleaning and are wall-mounted so are less often damaged. When they finally reach the end of their lives, they are fully recyclable.
Biodegradable cartridge Our bin-lining cartridges are made using plastics that are designed to break down better and faster. Once they are put into landfills, they safely degrade and biodegrade within two to three years. Because they are small, they pack down more easily when they are disposed of. Special plastics safer for the planet Our Bio Bins are made using totally degradable plastic additives designed by Environmental Products Inc (EPI). Conventional plastics break down very slowly – taking decades or even centuries. EPI's plastic additives, called oxo-biodegradable plastic additives, accelerate this process so that it happens over a couple of years. The end products of oxo-biodegradation are carbon dioxide, water and biomass. Extensive studies conducted by EPI, with internationally recognised laboratories and institutions have proven this process does not leave harmful or toxic residues in the environment. Less energy to move and maintain The compact outer cylinders can be transported in halves, and the inner replacement cartridges are light and small, reducing the environmental impact of transportation. And because the units don't need cleaning, there is less energy used – reducing emissions. Unlike other systems, no large cleaning trucks or facilities are used. Deodorisers safely break down The deodorising granules within the Bio Bin cartridges are made from natural mineral salts, coconut- oilbased, odour-neutralising agents, odour absorbers and fragrant oils. They are readily biodegradable, leaving no environmentally damaging residues.
