LUHUADANG WETLAND PARK [Team work] Time:2016 Autumn Smester Project Location:Nanjing,China Instructors:Ximing Chen,Chu Zhao,Ziyan Chen,Gang Cheng,He Li,Jiahui Liu

In Wuhu, the number of birds was greatly reduced and the land is barren in recent years. The wetland Park used to be an uncultivated wasteland, consisting of water systems, farmland and lotus root ponds. Residents who lived near by the Wetland park would throw rubbish into the site. The plan is trying to reuse the wasteland in different ways: First is to purify the water. Second is to use the original plants to create ornamental landscape, and protect the wild and native birds in Wuhu city. 02

BALTIC-SAGE LINK [Personal work] Time:2018 Autumn Smester Project Location: Newcastle, UK

The challenge is to develop an inspiring concept for an improved pedestrian connection between the Sage and the BALTIC, it should have a disabled access route raise from 0 to 14 meters high. The site is located at Gateshead, there are two landmarks in Gateshead, one is concert hall, another is art museum. On the other side of the Tyne river is Newcastle, there are lots of old buildings been kept from 1800 till now..

13

transportation around the site

Because I was focuse on the history of Newcastle, my concept is to referencing history and looking forward for future. The site is located in Gateshead, between Baltic and Sage, is an important link between Newcastle and Gateshead. Newcastle was famous for heavy industies and shipbuilding, but in more recent times,Newcastle has to undergone major changes as these industries closed. Despite dramatic unemployment and associated social problems, the region managed to reinvent itself from the 1980's onwards and is today an essential regional hub for education.

The ramp can help disabled people go to all levels. Because I was focus on industial, so I am trying to use heavy materials to show industrial elements, the problem is that it would cause dark space, so I create two key spaces to make shelter and light come into the site, and I thought about using the structure to support the ramp, then it gradually became decoration and support.

Site model

Model of activity area

These are different angle of activity area, people can walk on the ramp to enjoy sunshine, also people who walk under the ramp also can have shelter to avoid dark space. The hollow structure can create a connection of people on the ramp and people under the ramp.

Model of sitting area

These are different angle of sitting area, from this structure I came up with the idea of making structure to support my ramp and use it in most part of my ramp. It can easily create shelter and a relaxing area for people to have a rest.

EXTRA WORKS

The Apollo Pavilion is a piece of public art which is located in Peterlee, This structure is built on top of the river and serves as a connection between the two sides of the river, it is using different types of concrete, and the shadow attracted me a lot.

Different materials in the site

These sketches were done after I have been to Newcastle so far, they are located at Gateshead and Easington Village. 17
