01 SPACE - TIME OVERLAYING Location: Xian, Shaanxi, China Area: 42.1 ha Type: Group work, collaborated with Haoxin Sun. Time: 03-07/2018 | Studio of urban design As a world cultural heritage, the Small Wild Goose Pagoda has a very important historical value. However, after investigation, we found that the Pagoda not be understood and valued, so it seems to disappeare in the city. Its brilliance is covered by other historical relics. Near the Pagoda, it is very difficult to feel its existence. The chaotic and dirty environment around the Small Wild Goose Pagoda like an iron bucket, making it impossible to perceive the Small Wild Goose Pagodathe and other historic remains of this area. We try to protect and identify historical information to solve the problem. Firstly, restore the historical information of each era. Secondly, give the design form of the information characteristics of each era, and use the design elements to identify the historical information. Thirdly, and overlay the information together. Finally, Specific operation of overlaying in seven ways.

The temple was destroyed and destroyed after the war. Only the small wild goose pagoda was left. It was gradually abandoned during the Yuan Dynasty and occupied by the peasants.

The Ming Dynasty repaired the Small Wild Goose Pagoda three times, but in the middle of the earthquake, the Small Wild Goose Pagoda split from the middle and was repaired again, and the temple was rebuilt.

The Qing Dynasty attached importance to Buddhism and continued to repair the Small Wild Goose Pagoda. And at the time of the famine, the Small Wild Goose Pagoda accommodates thousands of victims.

The Republic of China A.D. 1636 - 1912 During the Republic of China, the warlords attacked other opponents with the Small Wild Goose Pagoda as the base, and broke out in the "Small Wild Goose Pagoda Battle". The temple was seriously damaged.

People's Republic of China A.D. 1949 After the founding of New China, the Small Wild Goose Pagoda was listed as a key cultural relic protection and repair, and the Xi'an Museum was built on the west side of the Small Wild Goose Pagoda.

According to archaeological data, we have restored the spatial pattern of each era. There are four cultural relic sites in the Tang Dynasty, including ① the Tang Dynasty road ruins, ② the Tang Dynasty wall ruins, ③ the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, and ④ residential ruins. The temples that were rebuilt in the Ming Dynasty were par tially preserved today. There are also villages in the Republic of China, as well as modern landmarks such as Xi’an Hotel and Xi’an Museum. We overlay the historical information of each dynasty, give different forms of information to each era, and use seven methods to deal with the overlapping parts of historical information.

02 THE RAINCOAT OF LOESS Location: Yulin, Shaanxi, China Type: Group work, collaborated with Bihan Li Time: 07-09/2017 | the 2017 IFLA Student Competition Zizhou County is located in the Loess Plateau in North Shaanxi Province, China. In July 26, 2017, Zizhou county was hit by terrible flood. Plenty of water with massive sediments inundated the whole county, causing significant casualt ies and economic losses. After the flood, a large amount of silt laid thick on the county ground, which is hard to clean-up. It is not the local residents’ first time to suffer such terrible disaster. In fact, flood comes nearly every rainy season. The loss of the people is very serious. After the research, we found the characteristics of the crest, the slope and the toe: It is easy to collapse on the crest; the soil and water on the slope will be quickly brushed from the slope; there will be a lot of soil staying on the toe. Therefore, in solving the strategy, first of all, we divide the entire site into these three parts, using different strategies for different parts. Then, the solution strategies for the crest, the slope and the toe are integrated into a complete system. Finally, these solutions are combined with the landscape so that people can use these facilities to improve the quality of urban life.

As the city continues to develop and expand, roads are continuously built around the base. The process of building roads is like cutting a cake to cut the terrain, leaving a high platform about 30 meters above the road. However, there are many residential areas around this high platform, but there is a great lack of public space, so this high platform was planned by the government to become a park. How to deal with the height difference is the first problem we faced. We redesigned the terrain and treated the terrain with steps, stairs, grass slopes, etc., so that people can enter the site through steps and ramps, and level the site. People provide space for activities. Because of the different topographical features in the inland block, we divided the plot into five areas, namely Event Square, Urban Balcony ,Park Complex, Buddhist Temple and Waterfront landscape area, five areas to meet people's different functional needs of the park, and to improve the construction of urban green leisure space.
