You can ask your employees if they have experienced symptoms of the pandemic virus, such as fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat. Generally, measuring an employee’s body temperature is considered a medical examincation, but again since we are in a pandemic and the CDC and state/local health authorities have acknowledged community spread of Covid-19, employers can measure an employee’s body temperature. You should take note that as an employer, you must maintain all information about an employee’s illness as a confidential medical record. This includes the temperature of any employee, i.e. don’t keep a temperature log at the front desk.
