Your employer cannot bar you from going to other places during your time off. Your employer can educate the employees and encourage employees

to abide by social distancing mandates, etc. It is also okay for your employer to require you to work remotely upon your return from travel if the employer feels it is necessary. An employer is within its rights to ask employees to work remotely, as long as the employer is not applying the policy in a way that could be deemed discriminatory. Even of the request is well-meaning, if is discriminatory the policy can violate federal law.

A: Louisiana law generally recognizes verbal agreements; however, they can be difficult to prove. It is a lot more difficult to argue with an agreement that has been reduced to writing and signed off on all parties than it is to argue to the terms of a verbal agreement. Even though you are family, agreements can go awry. Bad blood may develop in the future, or you both may not recall the exact terms of the agreement which can cause problems. I would encourage you and your cousin to memorialize the agreement in writing. There are a number of benefits

to doing so for both parties involved. For example, a written agreement that requires the signature of both parties gives each the opportunity to review and agreement upon the terms of the agreement. Parties are more likely to take a written agreement more seriously than a verbal agreement. Further, it is harder to deny the existence of the agreement, or the terms of the agreement when they have been reduced to writing and signed by all parties to the agreement. Finally, you will likely avoid the “he said/she said” confrontations if the agreement has been memorialized in writing. If you and your cousin take the agreement seriously at the outset by outlining terms of repayment, default, death, etc. at the outset will save heartaches and relationships in the future in the event the agreement does not go as planned. As the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded this year, a place to call home took on a new meaning for many. Living spaces evolved into home offices, schools and playgrounds. Stay-at-home restrictions this year may have accelerated your desire to purchase a new home to gain more space or perhaps you were prepared to buy a home this year but are now reevaluating your commitment. To help you determine if now is still a good time to search for and purchase a home, below are a few misconceptions about home buying right now.

Myth 1: Interest Rates are High. This is not true.

In fact, interest rates are low, making it an attractive time to purchase a home. While rates are subject to change at any time, the Federal Reserve recently announce that it intends to keep the federal funds rate near zero through 2022, which should help keep mortgage rates low.

Myth 2: No one is buying homes right now. Even
