ell, what a start! It’s been a bit of a whirlwind here at QRHQ. We’d like to thank everyone for the great comments & continued support. Obviously we think the magazine looks great & is pretty unique - but it’s nice to hear our advertisers & readers agreeing. One of our property advertisers even sold a house from our pages - now that’s not a bad investment! The launch party was a great success & a nice way for us to ¡ntroduce ourselves to the world and for you guys to meet the team behind the pages. It went really well & we’d like to thank everyone who came along. Next time we’ll put on a bigger buffet (hehe) St James Gate did us proud. A big shout to Richie at BigFM.org for providing the sounds & then to Anonamus & Ayla & Mike for carrying the music on into the evening - we’ll have to do it again, how about early July? (launch party pics opposite) Growing QR is now available at over 100 distribution points , and we’re not stopping there! If you haven’t got QR at your location, drop us a mail and we’ll get some over to you. Get Involved Don’t forget to check out the websites around QR for up to date info & extra articles & features. We want to hear from you and would love you to get involved. Comment about the magazine on our Facebook page, comment on articles & let us know what features you’d like to see in the future.

QR - Err what?

Ever seen one of these odd-looking little shapes in a magazine or on a billboard and had no clue what it was for? No, it’s not some sort of p r i n t i n g e r r o r. I t ’ s actually a kind of digital barcode, similar to what the cashiers at shops swipe over the scanner to ring up your groceries. Like the barcode on the back of your groceries, a QR code, or quick response code, is like a link to additional information or related items, usually online.

So when you spot one of these guys, say, in your favourite magazine (QR of course) it’ll probably be a link to something on the magazine’s website that relates back to whatever’s on the page – such as a music video, or some extra pictures for you to see. Want access to this fun online content? Don’t worry; you won’t need to nick a cashier ’s scanner from your closest supermarket to

do so. You probably have the technology to scan QR codes in the palm of your hand right now... your smartphone!

Nothing Special We’ve been asked “What’s special about QR codes?”

Now all you need is a QR code reader. This is easily done by opening up your phone’s app store (such as App Store on iPhone or Google Play on an Android phone, and so on) and simply searching “QR scanner” or “QR reader”.

Anyone can create a QR code, easily & for FREE we’ve given you a link to the QR generator we often use below. If you take a look at that generator you’ll see that you can link your FREE QR code to a wealth of mobile optimised digital assets, like a responsive website, iPhone app or Youtube channel. But that’s where the magic happens... It’s WHAT the QR code points to that makes them special, not the QR code itself! There’s no point in creating a QR code that directs to a website that then doesn’t display correctly on your phone, or isn’t as we geeks say “responsive” or “mobile optimised”. What enables us here at QRHQ to make QR Mags so unique is our

Z

aragoza is the capital city of the Region of Aragon, and located on the banks of the Ebro River, halfway between Madrid and Barcelona. Whilst remaining relatively untouched by foreign tourism, as the fifth biggest city in Spain and its fourth strongest economy, there is plenty going on in this friendly municipality, with rich culture, gastronomy, shopping and sightseeing being just a few of the delights it has to offer. Culture Zaragoza's history dates back over 2000 years, providing a breathtaking

legacy of monuments of Roman, Moorish, Jewish and Christian style, which give the city its character and lie awaiting to be explored. Notable places of interest include Aljafería Pa l a c e , a n a m a z i n g eleventh century palace located right at the heart of Zaragoza, and one of its few remaining Moorish buildings. This also provides a prime example of HispanoMuslim architecture at its best. The Virgin of Pilar Basilica Cathedral is often referred to as the “pride of the city ”, forming one of the most important Sanctuaries of Mary of the Catholic world. A shrine of

warm and vibrant city, Zaragoza is often left in the shadow of the better known Spanish resorts when it comes to tourism. However, with its rich culture and endless sightseeing opportunities it is certainly worth a closer look. Baroque art, the interior walls and ceilings are adorned with intricate murals originally painted by some of the country's most celebrated Artists. The Cathedral of the Saviour, sometimes known as 'La Seo', is also steeped in history, and whilst forming part of the World Heritage Site Mudéjar Architecture of Aragon, also includes Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles. Meanwhile, the famous Misericordia Bullring was the first in Spain to possess a retractable roof, protecting spectators from adverse

weather. Today the eighteenth century arena is frequently used for markets and concerts, as well as the traditional bullfights. Leisure Zaragoza extends a colourful and varied cultural programme, where the intense artistic character of the city can be seen reected in plays, exhibitions, concerts, festivals and fairs continuing throughout the year. The Acuario de Zaragoza is well worth a visit for anyone who is interested in the

fascinating life that exists under the sea. It is home to 60 tanks, filled with over120 species originating from the Mekong, Nile, Amazon, Murray-Darling and Ebro rivers. For a truly adventurous day out for all of the family, you should pay a visit to Dock 39, which is located in the southern part of Zaragoza. The popular activity centre offers a wealth of sports and leisure pursuits, from surfing to hiking, and ice skating to horse riding. Then there is the Zaragoza Amusement Park, situated only a short drive away from the city centre. Another perfect venue for families, the park features a variety of fairground rides and swimming pools, as well as secure playground attractions for the little ones. It is an ideal venue for parents to chill out at one of the bars or restaurants, while the kids have endless opportunities to burn off some energy! Gastronomy Like many Spanish cities, Zaragoza is very proud of its delicious cuisine, which is reported to be simple, nutritious, and based around local produce

such as vegetables, meats and exceptionally good wines. The region's farms provide peppers, tomatoes, thistles, courgettes, onions and green beans, which form the basis of traditional dishes like chicken stew and cod ajoarriero. Zaragoza is well known for its pulses, especially white beans, as well as potatoes, various breads and olives. Country products like snails, frogs' legs, and game meats give an authentic avor to many dishes; not forgetting the wonderful fruits derived from the Ebro River Valley, which includes plums from the lower banks; pears and apples from Almunia de Doña Godina; cherries from the Ribota Valley; apricots and the sweet, juicy peaches from Burgo de Ebro. Shopping Us girls will be particularly interested to learn that Zaragoza is a real shopper's heaven, with a diverse range of stores scattered throughout the city. There are cobbled pedestrian streets lined with gift shops and boutiques, large indoor shopping malls filled with your favorite high street names, and several street markets operating throughout the week. Calle Alfonso is said to be THE place to go for anyone with a

lust for shopping, housing sufficient stores, bars and restaurants to entertain you happily through from morning until night! The street links onto Plaza del Pilar, where you can find breathtaking views over the cathedral, becoming ever more stunning as the evening draws on. Night Life Zaragoza is as colourful and lively by day as it is by night, with a selection of bars, disco pubs and nightclubs opening their doors until the early hours, at any time of year. The locals will be the first to tell you that they really love to party, so if its good times you are looking for you are certainly in good

company here! Festive Spirit Staying with the party theme, Zaragoza is not short of its festive traditions, with the locals taking every opportunity to host a good old knees up. Celebrations during E a s t e r We e k f o r example, bring over one hundred thousand visitors to the city each y e a r, whilst Christmastime is also a notable event throughout the Aragon

Region. However, the most important annual fiesta for Zaragoza falls around 12th October, which marks the “Fiestas del Pilar”. The fiestas continue for a period of around ten days, and are meant to honour the Patron Saint of the city, the Virgen del Pilar. The Town Hall is usually responsible for organizing the entertainment programme, which typically features concerts, competitions, religious processions and the ceremonious offering of owers. Get Packing! Spring is the perfect time to pay a visit to Zaragoza, with the warm but comfortable temperatures averaging around 22 to 25 degrees from April until mid to late June, after which time things start hotting up! August in the city is possibly the best time to avoid, as a lot of the locals travel to other regions for holidays, leaving many places deserted and some smaller businesses closed altogether. Then during autumn again, from September to late October, is also a great time to go, and you might even catch the fiestas if you're lucky! So what are you waiting for? Book those tickets, get packing and go explore!

onroe's Rock Café is inarguably one of the most popular and established rock bars on the coast. Since opening its doors in Torrevieja in 1989, it has not only hosted some of the most successful concerts and festivals in the area, but also bred a number of the biggest bands on the circuit today. It was bar owner, Neil, who really put rock and heavy mental on the map for the town, providing fans with a dedicated venue to congregate and share their passion for the thumping music genre.

Rocking The Crap Out of Cancer at Monroe's!!!

By Heidi Wardman

New Venue Growing public demand for live music, which is so restricted these days due to licensing laws, saw Monroe's branch out in December 2014, with a sister venue, Monroe's Music Pub. Located on Calle Apolo, 12, in Torrevieja, the new pub remains true to its namesake, reecting the vintage Marilyn Monroe and Rock and Roll themes of the original, whilst also inviting a wider diversity of music tastes. Che commented that “The cancer charities are quite close to the hearts of the band members, so we are really proud to be a part of this event and be able to show our support for such a worthy cause”.

Neil was also proud to announce the visit of very special guest and amazing guitarist, Santiago Campilllo, founder of the world famous rock band MClan. ince the band was established in March last year, The Streeters has soared to success, making an impact on music lovers throughout Murcia and Alicante; and proving that age and nationality pose no boundaries when it comes to music. The band plays a blend of music to suit audiences of all ages, from sixties and seventies classics, by the likes of The Doors, The Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix; to contemporary hits from The Killers, Bruno Mars and Farrell Williams. Similar to their wide ranging musical repertoire, the band members themselves form quite an eclectic

mix, with Lead Vocalist and Bassist, Oscar hailing from Bolivia, Drummer and Percussionist, Sergio being Spanish; and Lead Guitarist, Austin, originating from Rotherham, England, who aged just fifteen years old, has become a real focal point for their audiences. It was in fact this infusion of young talent, pointed out to QR by an enthusiastic groupie, that also sparked our interest in the up and coming, relatively new band on the block. El Niño Magnetico Better known to his friends and fans as “El Niño Magnetico”, Austin was born and raised on

hree talented guys hailing from totally different walks of life, have come together through one common passion, to form one of the most successful and admired bands of the moment. music, with his Dad and M a n a g e r, B r y n , encouraging his growing interest from an early age. The family moved to Caravaca de la Cruz when Austin was four, where he has grown up mainly listening to Spanish Artists, and was bought his first Spanish guitar when he was nine. He took private guitar lessons for a time, and also attended a workshop with the Animeros of Caravaca, although confirms that his best learning tool was the internet, from which he would sit and watch hours worth of tutorial videos on You

Tube. It soon became apparent that Austin was a natural, and he began to receive invites to perform and record material with other musicians, including the band Neuman; and Spanish Indie Rockers, Love of Lesbian, who invited him to join them for a few songs during their two sold out concerts in Murcia. A u s t i n c i t e s Fi t o y Fitipaldis, Mark Knoper, Jimi Hendrix and Muse as his main inuences. Early Days As his confidence and musical talents expanded, Austin's

hunger for performing live also spiraled, and he hooked up with Oscar, to form his first band, Magnetic Jukebox, in February 2014. Oscar was certainly no stranger to music, having begun singing at the age of eleven, and taking it to a professional level in 2008. He had previously been involved in local bands including Arroz and Roll, The Berry Chuckit and eighties rock band, The Verbenas. However, his musical talents and ability to read music originally evolved with the accordion, which he learned to play when he was just six years old, and went on to teach whilst studying music at University. With an obvious air for this instrument, QR wondered why he no longer played it? “There is not much call for accordion players in Rock and Roll bands! So I sold all my instruments to buy a guitar!” he laughed. Fair enoughhis current success indicates that it was a smart move! The Streeters Within a month of their joining forces, Oscar and Austin teamed up with Drummer, Sergio; who was also known for h i s a m a z i n g appearances with Los Springers, Los Duques and Los Fanaticos; and thus, The Streeters was borne! Already boasting

a solid fan base, the band are now in great demand, with back to back performances booked at various venues throughout the s u m m e r, a n d r i g h t through until February 2 0 1 6 . Re g u l a r g i g s include Monroe's Music Pub, Torrevieja; Pablo's Bar, Playa Flamenca; Lansdowne, Playa Flamenca; The Hen's Teeth, Villamartin; and The Arches Bar, Las Alcazares. The band can also be seen performing along with an additional Bass Guitarist, Alberto, as Magnetik Surf, when Oscar explained that they perform a slightly different set, comprising more classic rock tracks. Magnetik Surf will be among the bands performing at the Rock Against Cancer Concert being held at Monroe's Music Pub on 10th May. Future The Streeters have many exciting plans for the future, with their main priority now being to expand their repertoire based on audience requests. Oscar commented that “We are incredibly busy, with up to four gigs booked on certain days during the summer. It is tiring and puts great pressure on us physically, but we are making a living doing something which we love, and not many people have that privilege!” He went on

to say that they are planning to write and record their own material in the near future, to keep their performances fresh and give their fans something really special. “Recording our own songs is definitely the next move for The Streeters. As soon as we can find time to set aside for it that is!”

t just 22 years of age, there is no end to Jay Markwick's talent, charisma and ambition. Having quit football at an early age to pursue his interest in dance, the gifted youth from Essex has been dubbed a real life “Billy Elliot”, entertaining audiences throughout Spain and as far afield as Jordan and China. Jay realized a lifelong dream in 2012, when he made the bold decision to break away from the prestigious Ballet de Murcia to focus on his own projects, and make a name for himself as a Flamenco Dancer in his own right. He established his own D a n c e C o m p a n y,

Compañia de Flamenco JM, and commenced working on his own production, Explosion, a poignant love story, told entirely through the art of song and dance, which was a huge hit from the moment it was released. Record Breaking The Explosion Show travelled the country, and Jay's talent continued to cause ripples throughout the Flamenco world, as fellow dancers and critics found it remarkable that a foreigner could demonstrate such grace and command in his movements. One of the notable moments Jay

R Readers may recall an article in our last issue, about local Flamenco genius, Jay Markwick, and his incredible journey from the football pitch to the dance oor. He has now taken his adventures one step further, having completed a blindingly successful, sell-out tour of the UK which won comparisons with international triumph, Riverdance! recalls, was during a variety show at Benidorm Palace in September 2014, when he spontaneously decided to take a shot at breaking the Guinness World Record for the greatest number of Flamenco spins completed in one minute. His Mum, Deb, thought he was crazy for attempting something so ambitious. She said that “I knew that he could do it… but with no rehearsal and in front of around 1500 people?

It was certainly a challenge and incredibly nerve-racking to w a t c h ! ” H o w e v e r, completely undeterred, Jay smashed it with a whopping eighty-three spins- doubling the existing record to thunderous applause! Training Jay still had big ideas for Explosion, devoting hours to perfecting it, with lavish costumes and stage shows designed by Sister, Jazmine, as well as

intricate new routines which would give the show “The Edge”. He undertook intensive training with the world f a m o u s d a n c e r, Farruquito, in Murcia, who he considers as one of his main inuences. "For me this was an extraordinary training day and a rare occasion. The last time we trained together I was just 16, so to reunite was a special advantage. Farruquito is an astonishingly good dancer and has been my biggest inspiration so far". Tour All of this preparation led Jay to his greatest achievement to date last m o n t h , w h e n Compañia de Flamenco JM embarked on its first UK tour! The two-hour show attracted sell-out audiences at seven high profile venues, including the prestigious Lyric Theatre in London's West End! This may even have clinched another World Record for Jay, who is believed to be the youngest person ever to have choreographed, styled, produced, directed and starred in a performance that has made London's West End during its debut of the UK! Jay revealed that the tour was a real emotional roller coaster, with each of the dancers

experiencing a dizzy blend of excitement, pride, anticipation and exhaustion as they travelled the UK. Audiences, not to mention the UK media, were completely blown away by the show, and certainly proud to call the young Essex lad one of their own, as Jay dominated each famous stage with amazing footwork and impeccable timing. One newspaper even went as far as to state that “Explosion invites comparison with Riverdance. But it offers a bigger repertoire of dance styles, more inventive choreography and more fabulous footwork then its Irish counterpart”. Reviews also recognized Flamenco as being far more complex than is typically portrayed through the tourist driven shows performed here in Spain.... This article continues online! Geekly – Force fields become reality...

El Jefe

T

he world takes another step to becoming every sci fi heads dream with Boeing taking out a new patent for Star Trek type force fields...

A

new patent granted to aircraft, defense and security company Boeing is taking its cues from science fiction. Just like the glowing energy shields seen protecting troops, machines and even spacecraft in Star Wars and Star Trek, the design -- named "Method and system for shockwave attenuation via electromagnetic arc" -- uses energy to deect potential damage. As it is described, the system is not designed to prevent direct impact from shells or shrapnel; rather, it is designed to protect a target -- such

as a vehicle or building -from the damaging effects of shockwaves from a nearby impact. The patent is for a shockwave attenuation system, which consists of a sensor capable of detecting a shockwavegenerating explosion and an arc generator that receives the signal from the sensor to ionise a small region, producing a plasma field between the target and the explosion using lasers, electricity and microwaves. This small plasma field would differ from the s u r r o u n d i n g

environment in temperature, density and/or composition. This would provide a buffer between the target and the explosion that would hinder the shockwaves from reaching and damaging the target. Because this system heats and ionises the air, it is eminently unsuitable for enveloping a target

and being held in place for any length of time. That kind of force field is technically feasible -physics students last year determined that an electromagnetic field could by used to hold a plasma shield in place -but it would likely also deect light, leaving anyone inside blind as a bat.

A Salute To Mothers 28 Everywhere...

M

other's Day is universally celebrated, to honour all Mums and express gratitude to them for bringing a child into the world. Spain has its own Mother's Day traditions, which are observed by families across the country this month. Known as El Día de la Madre, this special salute to Mums is celebrated on the first Sunday in May here in Spain. As in the UK, shops capitalize on the opportunity to sell greetings cards, commemorative chocolates and owers, as well as other thoughtful gifts designed

to make the person who we call “Mum” feel appreciated. Most will agree that our Mum is special every day of the year, but how often do we tell her so? Birthdays and Christmas perhaps? Both are days when she can expect to be pampered, unless she is busy cooking the dinner of course, but not exclusively for her role as a Mum. So where did it all begin? The earliest records of tributes to mothers date back to the annual spring festival held in ancient Greece, which was supremely dedicated to Rhea, the mother of many deities; and to the

The tradition stuck and adopted the name 'Mother's Day' or 'Mothering Sunday' in the UK, but is observed on different dates in numerous countries, which for the majority of Christian lands such as Spain fall sometime in May. Mother's Day as we know it was first celebrated in the United States over 150 years ago, when a volunteer

worker called Anna Jarvis organized a special day to raise awareness of poor health conditions in her community. Her work targeted mothers, who she felt were more likely to support the cause, and thus it became known as “Mother's Work Day ”. Fifteen years later, Julia Ward Howe, from Boston, who was a famous poet, pacifist, suffragist, and creator of the lyrics to the “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” took the demonstration a little further, when she

encouraged mothers to fight for peace, as she believed they bore the loss of human life more harshly than anyone else. The two women continued to strive in this manner throughout their lives, and so in 1905 when Anna Jarvis died, her daughter also called Anna, felt it only fitting to continue her work and keep her memory alive. Legend has it that Anna junior's actions were motivated by a Sunday school lesson that her mother had once given, when she said that “I hope and pray that someone, sometime, will found a memorial mother's day. There are many days for men, but none for mothers.” The vision became a reality in 1914, as Anna's hard work paid off when the

twenty-eighth US President, Woodrow Wilson, signed a bill recognizing Mother's Day as a national holiday, and thus began a trend which sent ripples across the globe. Here in Spain, “El Día de la Madre” is an important holiday, and as Spanish children tend to remain close to their parents as they become adults, a time when the whole family gets together to shower Mum's with gifts and love. It is among the most popular days of the year to dine out, when orists are swamped with orders for bouquets, breakfast in bed is being served in every household and telephone lines record their highest levels of traffic, as sons and daughters everywhere take advantage of the

opportunity to honour and express their appreciation to their beloved mothers for all that they do, each and every day of the year. Its anniversary, on the first Sunday in May, is very apt, as the month of May is also dedicated to the Virgin Mary, tying in with the country's deep roots in religion. Indeed, mother is the centre of the universe for every S p a n i s h f a m i l y, a s according to an ancient Spanish Proverb “An ounce of mother is worth a ton of Priest.” The traditional picture sees children making cards and writing their own poem or special message as a surprise for their Mum. For younger children, this is often coordinated by the Teacher at their school or nursery, and usually accompanied by

a handmade gift. QR Mags asked one Spanish Mum what her own experience of Mother's Day is and she said that “It is like having another birthday, but better! For me it is the most important day of the year as I have my sons and daughters around me, and while I beam with pride for them, they make me feel really special just for loving and looking after them, as any mother would do. That's a real bonus!” Another young Spanish Mum commented that “Sometimes as you go through the day to day routine of being a Mum, you forget that what you have created and the job that you do in bringing up a child is so vital and special. So having a day dedicated to reminding us of the fact is a wonderful thing!”

What you will need A picture frame (old or new) minus glass and backing. Enough mosquito netting to cover the space inside the frame Cup hooks any size or colour just depends on your preference Scissors, staple gun or double sided tape, pliers, embellishments – anything of your choice to add a design interest to the frame, ruler or tape measure, a pencil and a hammer or something to create a hole for the cup hooks. I have chosen to use an old photo frame I found in a charity shop. For me

personally I didn't like the original colour of the frame, I wanted a more weathered look, so I decided to sand paper the colour off as much as I could and bring it back to more of its original wooden colour. Then I added a little wax, a wash of watered down cream paint and then a watered down teal coloured paint - and ended up with a more distressed looking frame. If you are happy with the frame colour that you have chosen then you can just move onto the next stage. After painting the frame I started adding the cup

I chose the smallest ones I could find so they would look discreet. At the bottom of the frame I measure out how far apart and how many hooks I wanted. For me 5 at a space of 6cm apart was perfect. Initially making a small dent in the wood I then hammered the hooks in till they had got a hold in the frame and then twisted them the rest of the way with pliers. I then added two

more hooks about 14cm up from the bottom of the frame on either side to hang bracelets from. Next I added the mosquito netting to the back of the frame. Using the back piece of the frame as a template, I cut the netting to get the correct size. At first I then tried to staple the fabric to the back but found the staples were too close to the edge of

I started to embellish my frame with a variety of different options but decided to leave it simple as the jewellery itself would add colour and interest to the frame. I am really pleased with the result and will happily hang it in my bedroom.

Motoring in Spain 38 Part II

Are Your Tyres Up To Scratch? Just like in the UK and Ireland, Spanish law dictates certain safety standards which your vehicle must reach before it may be considered as being “road worthy”; and if upon inspection it does not, penalties will be imposed. One of the key elements of your vehicle which must be in tip top condition are your tyres, as you are at greater risk of having an accident if they are not. Firstly, Spanish law states that your vehicle must be fitted with the correct size and type of tyre for that model, and also that they should be suitable

for the specific use of the vehicle. Also in the i n t e r e s t s o f s a f e t y, motorists should ensure that their tyres are properly inated to the p r e s s u r e recommended by the manufacturer. Wa t c h Yo u r Tr e a d Levels It is important to keep a close eye on your tyre tread levels, whose depth for all vehicles is stipulated by law. A Guardia Civil Officer confirmed to QR that “The legal limit for the minimum depth of tread on your tyres is 1.6 millimetres (mm), across the central ¾ which is 75% of the

otoring laws here in Spain differ from those in other parts of Europe, so it is vital that you understand some of the basic principles before you get behind the wheel. Working in conjunction with a group of Guardia Civil Officers scattered right across the country, QR Magazine is proud to bring you expert advice each month, to ensure that you are safe and legal whilst on the move. tread around the c o m p l e t e circumference of the tyre”. The “principal grooves” describe the widest grooves in the tread pattern on your tyres, and these will have the tread-depth indicators located inside them, where you can get an idea of when they will need to be replaced. The Guardia Civil recommends that you replace your tyres BEFORE they have been worn down to the

legal limit; whilst many vehicle manufacturers suggest replacing them at 3mm. A Guardia Civil Officer explained that these guidelines are given for your safety and that of other road users, as “With a tyre tread of 1.6 mm, in wet conditions, it takes an extra two car lengths (8 metres) to stop at 50 mph (85 kph) than if your tread was 3mm.” Test Vehicle experts in the

UK advocate use of the quick and easy 20 pence test to give an approximate indication of your tread levels. This works by inserting a 20p coin into the lowest tread depth of your tyres. If you CANNOT see the outer rim around the edge of the coin, then your tyre is safe and has a minimum of 3mm tread depth. However, if you CAN see the rim, this means that your tyre tread is less than 3mm and you need to get it checked by a professional. For a more accurate reading it is best to use a depth measuring gauge, which is inexpensive to buy and small enough to keep in the glove box. By making these simple, regular checks of your tyres, you will not only

be protecting yourself from potential accidents, but also making sure that you avoid the hefty fines imposed for driving with tyres which are worn beyond the legal limit. The Guardia Civil advised QR that this is currently pegged at 200 euros per wheel, and with this in mind, are always shocked at how many drivers fail to observe the legal standards. Putting On The Pressure Another important aspect in maintaining your vehicle's tyres, is the pressure levels. Incorrect tyre pressure can have various adverse affects on your vehicle, such as tyre damage and increased

How to check pressures? A simple guide... · Verify the correct levels by consulting the vehicle handbook, checking inside the driver's door or fuel cap (this will be a figure in psi or bar). · Remove the plastic cap on the air valve · Press the tyre pressure gauge against the valve and hold it down firmly. If you hear the hissing sound of air escaping you need to press harder. · Read and record the measurement on the gauge. · If additional air is required, pump the gauge until the correct tyre pressure is shown.

· If the tyre pressure reading is too high, simply depress the tyre valve until the desired reading is reached. Following this simple process will not only improve vehicle safety, but also extend the life of your tyres and help to maintain fuel efficiency. For further information on this, along with a wealth of other useful road safety and legal advice, please consult the website http://n332.es or “N332” Facebook Page.

fuel consumption; as well as inuencing your ability to handle it. In the instance that tyres are not properly inated, stopping distances are extended, stability for braking and cornering are reduced, and your chances of suffering a blow out are significantly increased. Aside from the safety issues, failure to maintain the correct tyre pressures reduces the life of your tyres due to uneven wear, which means that they will need replacing sooner. A recent study of tyre pressures revealed the shocking news that 90% of all cars have incorrectly inated tyres, leaving 9 out of 10 drivers in danger every time they get behind the wheel!

How do I Check My Tyre Pressure? Tyres lose pressure naturally overtime, in the same way as might any inatable item. Therefore, to ensure that your ination levels are always correct, tyre pressures should be ideally checked at least once a month (including the spare), and also when about to embark on a long journey. It is advisable to test the pressure when the tyres are cold in order to achieve an accurate reading. Scan for N332 Facebook Page

Ciudad Quesada Ciudad Quesada is an unusual town because it really didn’t exist until the early 1970’s when a Spanish entrepreneur called Justo Quesada Samper decided to start his own town. The urbanisation grew and finally it was accepted as a real Spanish town. Ciudad Quesada is a popular place where many people live all the whole year round. It has plenty of shops, bars and Ciudad Quesada restaurants. Ciudad Quesada also has a golf course and aqua park so it does have its own unique attractions.
