Off Grid Solar Kit Generally, the application of solar PV differs mainly from other renewable sources like hydro power, wind energy, energy from biomass and co-generation plants. The policy and application of these renewable energy sources is more or less comparable to conventional fossil power plants. Key issues are scale of size, i.e. installed MW’s, energy output and profi tability and presence of a medium or high voltage grid with suffi cient transport capacity. Also, for renewables like small-scale hydro, wind and biomass, installations of 3 to 10 MW are rather common and plants of more than 25 MW are not exceptional.The emphasis of grid-connected PV is on the built environment, also mentioned as building-integrated PV (BIPV). The size of the installations ranges roughly from ~200 Wp to ~5 kWp. Mostly the PV installations are part of the existing infrastructure or integrated into the building structure of residential, offi ce or industrial buildings. Roof-mounted PV systems are considered as an building-integrated application. In most applications the electric power generated by solar energy is fed into the internal electrical grid of the building. This implies that when the PV installation is generating power and in the same building one or more devices are simultaneously consuming power, the devices are – at least partially – powered by the PV-system without using the utility grid. The surplus of solar energy is fed into the utility grid.

The heat pump utilized the energy from surrounding air and converts it to the domestic hot water supply. The whole range of this heat pump is strictly tested with our European partners to make sure the best quality for European market. Here are the advantages of choosing a solar heat pump system over standard options: •Emissions - By using solar energy for water heating as opposed to oil or coal, a solar heat pump greatly reduces CO2 emissions. •Low running costs - These systems have very low running costs and few maintenance costs. •Installation - It is easy to install. For climates with moderate heating and cooling needs, heat pumps offer an energy-efficient alternative to furnaces and air conditioners. Like a refrigerator, a heat pump uses electricity to move heat from a cool space into a warm one, making the cool space cooler and the warm space warmer. During the heating season, heat pumps move heat from the cool outdoors into your warm house; during the cooling season, heat pumps move heat from your cool house into the warm outdoors. Solar traffic lights Solar traffic marks - Solar road studs Lighting is obtained by extra bright LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes). High intensity LEDs are powered by NiMh rechargeable batteries or by super capacitors on more recent products. Super capacitors are not toxic. They have an impulse power ten times superior to rechargeable batteries and are capable of very high energy storage. Solar road studs using super capacitors can have a life span of more than 15 years. The cause of each individual accident spans a wide spectrum, but many have been traced to poor visibility (i.e. fog, intense rain), sharp curves, and unclear road perimeters. Further research revealed that 55 percent of these accidents occurred after sunset. Armed with this knowledge, officials began to do a further study into the incidents of post-sunset traffic incidents. As it turns out, ninety percent of a driver’s reaction is entirely dependent upon what they can clearly see. Extensive testing has revealed that the benefits of solar road studs include, but are not limited to, a greater reduction in accidents, better driver visibility rates, and awareness of sudden turns or dips in the roadway allowing the driver time to adjust speed as opposed to sudden unexpected braking or high-speed turns.

Hybrid systems - solar & wind power What makes a hybrid system a hybrid system?
As shown in the diagram above, a hybrid system uses a combination of energy producing components that provide a constant flow of uninterrupted power. The hybrid system above makes the use of wind, solar, and possibility a back up generator. Hybridization ensures that should any part of your system not be performing (solar -cloudy days, wind- no wind) for any reason, you will have a back up means of producing your own electricity.

It's generally windy to some degree during overcast days, which makes wind towers and turbines effective when the sun isn't shining. The wind collectors will also work at night, providing there's wind. Alone, the solar and wind systems both have flaws; solar can't work without sun, and wind can't work without wind. When the two systems are combined, they fairly well cover each others' weaknesses. Hybrid systems work for both off-grid solutions (such as using propane generators to charge batteries when the sky is overcast) and for grid-tie systems (using wind turbines to supplement the electricity you produce during in climate weather).
Why Hybrid Solar-Wind Generator? Many remote towns or sparsely populated areas are not serviced by the main power grid. Power must be generated locally using engine generators powered by conventional fuels, such as diesel or propane. Solar PV cell system generates electricity by using readily available, inexhaustible solar energy. It does not make any noise and does not discharge any waste or consume any working media, which makes the solar cell an ideal clean and safe energy. In addition, the solar cell has a simple tructure but a wide scope of application. It is easy to install and is maintenance-free. However, it generates less power in winter when sunlight is weak or little power in a raining day. OFF Grid wind power system Is it suitable for my home? Individual turbines vary in size and power output from a few hundred watts to two or three megawatts (as a guide, a typical domestic system would be 1 - 6 kilowatts). Uses range from very small turbines supplying energy for battery charging systems (e.g. on boats or in homes), to turbines on wind farms supplying electricity to the grid. • Wind speed increases with height so it's best to have the turbine high on a mast or tower. • Generally speaking the ideal site is a smooth top hill with a flat, clear exposure, free from excessive turbulence and obstructions such as large trees, houses or other buildings. • Small scale wind power is particularly suitable for remote off grid locations where conventional methods of supply are expensive or impractical. Small-scale building-integrated wind turbines suitable for urban locations are also available to install in homes and other buildings. Please note that the electricity generated at any one time by a wind turbine is highly dependent on the speed and direction of the wind. The windspeed itself is dependent on a number of factors, such as location , height of the turbine above ground level and nearby obstructions. . Turbine Configurations Wind turbines are often grouped together into a single wind power plant, also known as a wind farm, and generate bulk electrical power. Base - Structure that supports the wind turbine’s rotor and houses the equipment used to produce electricity (including the gearbox and the alternator). Central column -Vertical cylindrical part to which the blades are attached; the force of the wind on the blades causes it to rotate. Strut - Horizontal piece that connects the blades to the central column to strengthen them. Aerodynamic brake - Emergency braking system; it consists of shutters attached to the blades, which automatically deploy when the wind turbine gathers too much speed. Guy wire - Cable that connects the top of the vertical axis to a concrete base to hold the wind turbine in an upright position. Rotor - Rotating part of the wind turbine that is usually made up of two or three blades; its rotation drives the alternator to produce electricity. Blade - Aerodynamic part that is attached to the central column; the force of the wind turns it to drive the rotor. You do not need a yaw mechanism to turn the rotor against the wind. You may place the generator, gearbox etc. on the ground, and you may not need a tower for the machine.
Advantages • A massive tower structure is less frequently used, as they are more frequently mounted with the lower bearing mounted near the ground, making it easier to maintain the moving parts. • Designs without yaw mechanisms are possible with fixed pitch rotor designs. • They have lower wind startup speeds than HAWTs. Typically, they start creating electricity at 6 m.p.h. (10 km/h). • They may be built at locations where taller structures are prohibited. • VAWTs situated close to the ground can take advantage of locations, hilltops, ridgelines, and passes funnel the wind and increase wind velocity They may have a lower noise signature.
