In 2007 the four of us - Joe, Keith, Nick and Paul - set up Quadrant Building Control. Between us, we had decades of experience in Building Control within Local Authority and in the private sector, and we knew we wanted to take the best elements of both approaches to create an efficient, friendly and completely trustworthy Building Control company. We designed Quadrant to meet the demands of both an increasingly competitive commercial environment and for householders who need straightforward and helpful Building Regulations approval.

With experience in Local Authority Building Control and the private sector, Joe Campion, Keith Day, Nick Ellson and Paul Knight start

Quadrant Building Control at the Woolfox Depot near the small Rutland village of Stretton, 8 miles to the north of Stamford. Four project managers plus administrative staff recruited. In the first year Quadrant is appointed to over 200 Building Control projects.

Lincoln and Stamford offices open. Andrew Travers appointed Associate Director.

2010 2014 2015 2013

Leicester office opens - by the end of 2013 Quadrant has completed over 7000 applications.

Central London office opens in Southwark.

Move to Buckminster, in the borough of Melton, Leicestershire.

Nottingham office opens. Quadrant becomes RICS LandAid charity partner. Andrew Travers appointed Director.

Chester office opens. Applications now total over 14,000.

Wigan and Wakefield offices open. Attain ISO 9001: 2015 QMS and ISO 14001: 2015 EMS accredited by BM TRADA. Now over 47 staff including specialist QA/HR/Marketing.

Rhys Whitehead appointed Associate Director.

Derby office opens. Joint founder Keith Day retires. Michael Owen and Paul Pratten appointed Associate Directors.

Birmingham office opens. Steve Kidd appointed Associate Director.

Quadrant becomes Lighthouse Charity Company Supporter. Now over 75 staff.

York office opens.

Manchester office opens.

Liverpool office opens. Quadrant becomes net zero carbon.

Quadrant achieves Constructionline Gold membership.

Chelmsford office opens.

Caernarfon office opens. Now over 110 staff. First in-house Structural Engineer appointed.

First Mental Health First Aider trained. First member of staff to transition from Admin to Assistant Project Manager.

Rhys Whitehead appointed Director. Head of Training appointed to establish Quadrant’s Training Academy. Applications now total over 50,000. Quadrant’s CPD videos on YouTube reach over 30,000 views.

Stoke-on-Trent office opens. Sheffield office opening in second half of 2022, further details to be announced.

We hold an annual two-day company conference, which went virtual in 2020 and 2021, and many of us get involved in our expanding Corporate Social Responsibility activities. In 2018, Quadrant made a corporate donation and offered pro bono Building Control to the RICS/LandAid charity, and in 2020 we became a Company Supporter of The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity. Our teams are also proud to support charities and projects close to them, and in 2020, each office made a donation to a local charity chosen by the office team. We have also taken responsibility for our environmental impact, and where we are unable to reduce our carbon footprint, we are offsetting all our emissions by funding registered Clean CO2 renewable energy projects.
