Finding Us The Quarry Theatre at St. Luke’s 26 St. Peter’s Street, Bedford MK40 2NN The entrance to The Quarry Theatre is on St. Peter’s Street. If you are travelling by car, please use MK40 2NN for Sat Nav systems.

You can also buy tickets in person at our box office, which is just inside the main entrance on St. Peter’s Street. The box office is only open on show nights (usually one hour before curtain up until 20 minutes after). However, during the Creative Arts Festival the box office will be open for two hours each day. Something different . . . Rocket Girl Using storytelling, puppetry and movement with an original score, Ditto Theatre Company invites you to join them in making the impossible possible as one girl battles to become…Rocket Girl!

Something special . . . Annette Gregory Come and tap your feet and enjoy some wonderful jazz as Annette Gregory performs Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday, Julie London and many others.

Welcome to the Quarry Theatre summer season. As we head towards our fourth birthday we will be bringing to you a wide range of events that we hope will appeal to all tastes! Look out for the return of the Dad’s Army Radio Show bringing three brand new episodes from the classic sitcom we all know and love. Bedford School’s very own Boycott Theatre Company return with a production of Brainstorm. A unique theatrical investigation into how teenagers’ brains work, and why they are designed by evolution to be the way they are. TV celebs take over at the end of May with CBBC’s Sam & Mark gracing our stage (soon to be presenting CrackerJack!) and, of course Angus Deayton (Have I Got News For You, One Foot In The Grave). Micheal Fenton Stevens, Philip Pope and Helen Atkinson Wood will accompany him in their comedy show Radio Active. Summertime is festival time so do take a look at this year’s Creative Arts Festival line-up. This year it will run for two weeks from various venues on the school site. The Bedford Festival Fringe is with us once again bringing a record breaking 150 events over 13 days from 5 venues! You will find the full Bedfringe programme at www.bedfringe.com. Bedford School’s own Boycott Theatre Company present Brainstorm. A unique theatrical investigation into how teenagers’ brains work, and why they’re designed by evolution to be the way they are. Created with cognitive neuroscientist Professor Sarah-Jayne Blakemore and drawing upon the life experiences of the cast, Brainstorm is a thrilling exploration of the most frustrating, chaotic and exhilarating changes that will ever happen to us.

Simon Munnery: The Wreath Thursday 23 May, 7.30pm ‘I went to a funeral the other day. Caught the wreath…’ That’s what came to me, from the mysterious source of the inexplicable. Hear the story of the joke, the painting and what happened next. Simon Munnery’s stand-up career spans 32 years and has seen him regularly perform all over the world and star in several of his own major television and radio projects.

Angus Deayton, Helen Atkinson Wood, Michael Fenton Stevens and Philip Pope reunite to take classic scripts from the award-winning BBC Radio 4 show on the road following a sell-out and critically acclaimed run at Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Among other classic characters expect to catch up with long suffering radio host Mike Channel, original foodie Anna Daptor, and the accident-prone Martin Brown, as well as the cast’s original musical creations, responsible for such parody bands as The Hee Bee Gee Bees and Status Quid. Based on the sketch show created during their years in the Oxford Revue, ‘Britain’s first ever national local radio station’ was written by Angus alongside Geoffrey Perkins, and ran for seven series before transferring to television in the form of BBC2’s KYTV. All surviving members of the original cast reunite for this tour marking 40 years since its stage debut. 7

RSC Live: The Taming of the Shrew Wednesday 5 June, 7.00pm In a reimagined 1590, England is a matriarchy. Baptista Minola is seeking to sell off her son Katherine to the highest bidder. Cue an explosive battle of the sexes in this electrically charged love story. Justin Audibert (Snow in Midsummer, The Jew of Malta) turns Shakespeare’s fierce, energetic comedy of gender and materialism on its head to offer a fresh perspective on its portrayal of hierarchy and power.

When a young novice nun is compromised by a corrupt official, who offers to save her brother from execution in return for sex, she has no idea where to turn for help. When she threatens to expose him, he tells her that no one would believe her. Shakespeare wrote this play in the early 1600s, yet it remains astonishingly resonant today. Artistic Director, Gregory Doran, directs this new production.

Following the success of her first show, Jess Green returns with a rousing, lyrical and humorous look at modern politics; a show which not only received critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe but also saw Jess win the BBC Poetry Slam led her to having a cup of tea with the man himself!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Thursday 24 - Sunday 27 October The timeless classic has made its way off the page and onto the stage. Created by Jonathan Rockefeller, the critically acclaimed production of The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show features a menagerie of 75 lovable puppets, faithfully adapting four of Eric Carle’s stories, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, 10 Little Rubber Ducks, The Very Lonely Firefly and of course, the star of the show celebrating its 50th Birthday in 2019 The Very Hungry Caterpillar. 18

Late Arrivals If you arrive late to a performance you may not be able to enter the auditorium until the interval or a convenient break in the performance. With some shows, a performance relay will be set up on the bar TV.
