Why study this programme?

Programme overview

You will develop a solid grounding in legal theory and modern economics, enabling you to conduct, assess, and supervise theoretical and applied research in the field.

Duration: one year full-time/two years part-time

If you perform well on the programme you will be encouraged to apply for a joint doctoral study in the School of Economics and Finance and the Centre for Commercial Law Studies. The programme will also include a number of practical and knowledge transfer components that will help you to develop your career outside of academia. You will, for example, have the opportunity to take part in an academic yearlong Investment Club, gaining hands-on experience in trading and portfolio analysis alongside your studies. For more information on the Investment Club, visit: www.econ.qmul.ac.uk/postgraduate/mscprogrammes/msc-investment-club

Start date: September Delivery: Taught through a mix of classroom-based teaching and assessed by formal examinations and/or coursework. Pathways The LLM is a single programme offering two sublevel pathways: • Jurisprudence – for those with a legal background or with an undergraduate degree in law • Economics – for those with an economics/finance background or with an undergraduate degree in economics or finance. The pathway structure draws on the specialisations and strengths of the Law and Economics departments, while the foundation courses ensure that you will have a thorough grounding in both fields, whatever your academic or professional background. This structure establishes an integrated programme that provides broad-based instruction in law and economics, developing valuable cross-disciplinary knowledge.
