Work, volunteer and study at Queen Mary There's more to being a student than lectures and study. Queen Mary offers a number of opportunities to represent the University, work with fellow students, volunteer at important events, and get paid for all your hard work. QTemps

PASS

Any Queen Mary student looking for part time, flexible work can register with our very own agency. QTemps offers opportunities both on and off campus, including exclusive access to campus jobs, and you’ll be paid the London Living Wage.

Peer Assisted Study Support (PASS) is a course-based mentoring scheme, run for students by students. It gives first-years the opportunity to discuss study-related problems and get general advice from other undergraduates. PASS is designed to be flexible, for example how long you meet, and how often, changes between departments. Through mentoring, students increase their own academic and social confidence and gain useful experience and key employability skills.

Become a Student Ambassador Engage with prospective students, learn new skills, meet new people, and share what you love about Queen Mary. Ambassadors act as role models and guides, all while strengthening their employability skills, enhancing their CV and adding to their Higher Education Achievement Record. Queen Mary pays all Ambassadors the London Living Wage and the role is flexible to fit around your studies.

Buddy Scheme Starting university is always exciting, but there’s often challenges as well. The Queen Mary Buddy Scheme brings together trained Queen Mary students with groups of incoming first year students from their academic School. The scheme is voluntary and helps to make the transition to life at Queen Mary easier.

Degree Apprenticeships

Degree Apprenticeships allow you to study at Queen Mary towards a full undergraduate degree, taking on zero debt and gaining up to four years’ work experience, all while earning a competitive salary. You study on campus but keep working for the company that sponsors you, and undertake work-based assessments. Queen Mary offers Degree Apprenticeships in BSc (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions (Software Engineering) and BSc (Hons) Business Management (Social Change). Degree Apprentices are employees of their sponsoring companies. You apply directly to an employer or through the National Apprenticeship Service. See findapprenticeship.service.gov.uk/apprenticeshipsearch and qmul.ac.uk/degreeapprenticeships/programmes To find out more come along to the Introduction to Degree Apprenticeships talk (12.45 – 1.15pm, Bancroft Building, David Sizer Lecture Theatre), visit our subject information points, or visit the Degree Apprenticeships stall at the Student Services Fair in the Octagon.
