Anthony Gulluscio is a typical eighth-grader. He attends PS/MS 207 Rockwood Park in Howard Beach, and is close with his grandfather, Frank Gulluscio, with whom he enjoys listening to The Beatles. He’s even a member of the school’s newspaper club.
Not so typical, though: Anthony can fly a plane.
At only 13, Anthony has been on two discovery flights, also known as introductory flights — short flights for people interested in learning about flying, or taking the first step toward earning a pilot’s license. Participants of any age can sit in the pilot’s seat next to a certified instructor, who oversees and assists during the flight.
