13, is already achieving his high-flying dreams

“I’ve always wanted to be a pilot,” Anthony said. “I don’t remember exactly when it started, but my mom says since I was 2, I’ve wanted to fly planes.”
During the Nov. 11 flight, Anthony piloted a Cessna 172P. He flew in two circles over the ocean at Jones Beach, which he noted is relatively close to JFK Airport.
“There was arriving traffic, and a huge aircraft coming from Germany,” Anthony said. “So I had to pay attention to that, too.”
The discovery flight is documented in a video posted to his YouTube channel, SomewhatFirstOfficerAnthony.
Asked if he was worried or scared at all during the experience, Anthony said, “Believe it or not, I’m a little short so I was worried I couldn’t reach the rudder pedal.” Still, he was able to pilot. “The instructor is there, so I’m not totally flying on my own.”
