Great Ocean Walk
The Great Ocean Road One of Australia’s most scenic drives, the Great Ocean Road is a magnificent road trip which officially starts from surf capital Torquay all the way to the iconic Twelve Apostles and ends near historic fishing village Port Fairy. It’s an easy drive taking you along cliff tops and surf beaches and through lush rainforest. Along the way it is easy to stop and spot koalas we recommend a stop at Kennet River, at Cape Otway Light Station, take a tour of the oldest surviving lighthouse on mainland Australia, climb to the top 90 metres above sea level and see where the Bass Strait meets the Southern Ocean. Time a trip between June and October and include whale watching from specially constructed viewing platforms in the dunes of Logan’s Beach at Warrnambool, Victoria’s southern right whale nursery. Just past Warrnambool, visit Tower Hill State Game Reserve where you can take to the walking tracks, keep an eye out for koalas, emus, kangaroos and the many water birds who roam freely among the hills and lake-filled craters of this extinct volcano. 8

Take the scenic ferry from Sorrento to Queenscliff and join the Great Ocean Road driving through breathtaking scenery en route to Apollo Bay located at the foothills of Great Otway National Park. your way through quiet bays, quaint towns, historic shipwreck sites and the iconic Twelve Apostles. Leaving the coast behind venture into the Grampians National Park where you’ll be awestruck by the sheer beauty of the magnificent rock formations, gorges and spectacular waterfalls and panoramic views. Your final stop is the gateway to the Goldfields, Ballarat. Step back in time at Sovereign Hill and relive the history of the gold rush from the thrills of striking it rich to the famous rebellion of the Eureka Stockade. Return to Melbourne where your journey ends.
