Getting to know Michael
QSM: Who is Michael Moss? Tell us at least 3 things we should know about the man behind the brand.
Michael: A God Fearing, Result Driven man who is passionate about seeing the potential in other people. Born in North Carolina, I moved to Georgia to attend Graduate school in 2003 and never left.
QSM: Which leads us to this next question. What is the story behind the name Big Man Culture?
Michael: My father was 6ft, 6inches, 290lbs and was given the nickname BIG MAN. He took pride in presenting the best version of himself and the clothes he wore. He was my inspiration in adulthood to mimic. I added the cultural aspect to the business as a way to encompass all parts of lifestyle to the business.
QSM: When did you decide to enter the fashion Industry? What was the ultimate motivation?
Michael: I started styling friends and then became serious about it in 2010. That led me into involving myself into fashion shows, events, etc. But then I realized that there was no representation from the Big and Tall community. So the motivation began with styling, then to custom clothes and services that were offered to the Big and Tall Community.
QSM: What made you decide to start your own fashion line? Why was it important to bring it to the runway?
Michael: Every brand starts from an idea. The idea led to understanding the lack of fashionable pieces for men my size. And with many friends and family members who struggled with the same issue finding options, it was important to take my ideas and translate them into tangible products and items for those individuals. That later progressed into bringing it to the runway to display to others what options we have and show the importance of custom clothing
QSM: What does your line/services consist of? Why is tailoring pieces so significant?
Michael: We offer custom clothes, styling services, closet renovations, Culture Classes and more! We stress tailoring because a tailored piece of clothing is specifically made for your body. So it will look great for your body. That’s why it is so important.
QSM: What is the average cost of your items/ services?
Michael: Most of our services are “custom” made and specific for each client. So our services are based upon the client’s requests. We offer custom clothes, styling services, closet renovations, and more.
QSM: We know Big Man Culture is more than a fashion line it’s a lifestyle, tell us more?
Michael: That is one of the reasons we added the word Culture to the name. There are lifestyle elements that complement our style and fashion. So it is important for us to incorporate those elements into the company and all of the services that we offer. We also have expanded to the BMC Group to connect with other lifestyle brands and products. That also includes events, fashion shows, and brand representation.

QSM: What does it mean or look like for Big Man Culture to Redefine the Standard?
Michael: The perception of Big Men has always been that we are sloppy, cannot dress well, and are not well kept. The gentlemen that represent Big Man Culture are honestly offended by that perception and our goal is define what the true standards are of REAL MEN! The way we dress, groom, and present ourselves is important in this world and our job is to present a standard for men to mimic.
QSM: We know that you’re a family man, how do you balance work, family, play?
Michael: It’s not easy, but the balance comes from having a great team in all areas so that I can focus on what’s important, Family!
QSM: Is there any room on your plate to take on any more endeavors? What’s next?
Michael: Always! However, it must be something well planned out as calculated risk are the focus for any business endeavors now. With the unprecedented times that we are in, it has to make sense for the business and the Culture!
QSM: We absolutely love all that you do for Big and Tall men both on and off the runway. Please keep up the great work. Any final thoughts? Let people know where they can find you.
Michael: Thanks for the opportunity and we appreciate you sharing the work that we have done to for the Culture! www.bigmanculture.com the links to all our social media can be found on our site as well.
