We are delighted to welcome you to the Musical Theatre 2017 season presented by Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. Queensland Conservatorium presents more than 250 events throughout the year at our main campus in the heart of Brisbane’s South Bank, at the Burke Street Studios in Woolloongabba and on our Gold Coast campus. Musical Theatre at Queensland Conservatorium has established a reputation as a provider of quality productions that are coupled with high-level learning outcomes for our students. As we embark on a new year, the musical theatre department welcomes you with enthusiasm and excitement to some of the most spectacular performances produced by its students. As you browse through this year’s season brochure, we hope you’ll be inspired by a number of events across our students’ jam-packed program. The events this year include staged productions of I Love You, You’re

Perfect, Now Change and West Side Story; workshop productions of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Con2TheCabaret and Fame – The Musical; musicales and singing concerts (in-house at our theatre in Woolloongabba and St John’s Cathedral), a Winter Audition Workshop, Summer School and two interstate tours. We’re also delighted to be joining the Queensland Pops Orchestra again for a musical theatre concert at QPAC as well as in Toowoomba.

We look forward to welcoming you to our performances and events throughout the year, and to sharing our passion for musical theatre. The second-longest running Off-Broadway musical I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is a brilliantly funny, fast-paced series of songs and vignettes about modern love and relationships. This deliciously quirky revue moves from the perils and pitfalls of the first date, to marriage, babies, family road-trips and looking for love in the twilight years of life — all with wit, insight and frightening familiarity! America is expanding and frontiersmen are pushing westward on the Oregon Trail. However, women aren't travelling westward in the same numbers and wives are in short supply. In Oregon Territory, Adam Pontipee travels from his backwoods home to find a bride in the lower township. When Adam arrives back home with his new wife Millie, his six rowdy brothers hatch a plan to get brides of their own. Adapted from the MGM movie musical of the same name, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is an energetic, classic romantic comedy.

Audition Workshop This week-long audition workshop is for performers in Years 11, 12 and beyond who want to develop their musical theatre auditioning skills. Participants will work with our expert musical theatre staff in intensive group lessons and learn the essentials of auditioning processes, etiquette and material selection. Participants will learn a simple dance routine, take part in mock auditions and hear from industry professionals about their own audition experiences. An essential experience for those preparing for a career in musical theatre.
