"Seabirds, Free of Ulterior Motives" first appeared in the Ming Dynasty's "Shenqi Mipu," originally titled "Forgetting Schemes " It is said to be composed by Liu Zhifang at the end of the Song Dynasty, expressing the story of “forgetting motives” from the book "Liezi " The story tells of a fisherman who loves seagulls and herons Every morning, he goes out to sea, and the birds gather around him However, his father learns of this and asks the fisherman to catch some birds for him The next day, the birds no longer approach the fisherman The fisherman realizes that the birds were close to him because he had no intention of capturing them, symbolizing the concept of "being free of ulterior motives." The moral of the story is that people should not have improper intentions, lest they lose that which they desire; only by forgetting one ’ s motives can one return to a simple carefree existence

《鸥鹭忘机》最早见于明代《神奇秘谱》,原名《忘机》。据传此曲是宋末刘志芳所作,曲意是 表现《列子》所记载忘机的故事。这个故事是说:有 个海民,喜欢鸥鹭,每天早上出海,都 跟鸥鹭出游,飞来和他亲近的的鸥鹭百只不止。他的父亲知道后,说:我听说鸥鹭都喜欢和你 起出海,你给我捉来玩玩。于是第二天海民想捕捉鸥鹭,但鸥鹭只在天上飞舞不再降落,不 再与他亲近。海民领悟到,以往鸥鹭跟他亲近是因为他忘却了捕捉它们的机心,这便是“鸥鹭 忘机”。这个故事的的寓意是说,人不要有不正当的机心,否则所有将会远离失去,只有忘却 机心,才能回归本真。

”Spring Day in the Royal Palace” is a lyric poem by the Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai The poem describes a day in the life of Emperor Xuanzong and his consort Yang The author observes the world from Yang’s perspective and writes the poem in the first person, vividly depicting the lifestyle of that time

In Chinese culture, ancient poetry is considered the essence of literature, and when combined with the qin (a traditional Chinese instrument), it forms what is known as a ‘qin song ’ (Guqin and Vocal Performance) ‘The Flowing Bian River’ expresses feelings of longing and sorrow, with themes of separation and uncertain reunions The lyrics of these songs come in two or three versions One is based on Bai Juyi's poem ‘Yearning,’ while another version is derived from ‘Red on Branches, Green on Branches,’ which tells a story of love in Chang'an during the prosperous Tang Dynasty "

古诗词是文学的精华,与古琴的结合就是琴歌,《汴水流》这首琴歌讲的是怀念远人的情思和 哀怨,相见不知何时。这种琴歌有两三个版本的歌词, 种根据白居易的《长相思》 :汴水 流,泗水流,流到瓜洲古渡头。 个版本是《和文注音琴谱》里的“红满枝,绿满枝,宿雨恹 恹睡起迟,闲庭花影移。这首《汴水流》是融合了两个版本的歌词。

Composed by the famous composer He Zhanhao in the 1990s, this modern guzheng piece is based on historical themes The music portrays different scenes to depict the emotional experiences of the national hero Yue Fei in Lin'an (now Hangzhou) during his imprisonment in the Dali Temple: his hatred for treacherous ministers, his care for his family, and his helplessness in being unable to serve his country The melody is characterised by the styles of various Chinese ethnic groups The piece draws on the structure and development of traditional Chinese music and consists of a theme and four variations It uses the tune of the ancient piece "Man Jiang Hong" as its core material, maintaining the original theme's solemn and tragic style while adding new qualities and a modern touch

Introduction:

"Song of the Yue People" is considered the earliest recorded translated song in Chinese history It dates back to the Warring States period (more than 2000 years ago) in the State of Chu One day, a nobleman of Chu named E Jun Zixi was sailing on a river when he heard a Yue boatman singing this song However, because the lyrics were in the Yue language, E Jun Zixi couldn't understand them He then asked a local person to translate the song into the Chu language, and that translation became what we know today as "Song of the Yue People " This song expresses the boatman's deep gratitude towards E Jun Zixi for treating people with respect, regardless of their social status, and for his compassionate governance and care for the common folk The song is remembered for its heartfelt emotion and its reflection of the appreciation felt by the common people for just and honorable leadership
