INMOTION

"In Motion" is the equally entertaining and groovy musical debut by the percussion trio "Untitled Drum Project”. With the trio’s roots in modern contemporary music, Untitled Drum Project sets out to create a new form of drumfocused music that takes a modernistic approach to music from the likes of the Blue Man Group, STOMP!, and other percussion ensembles.

Utilising the physical venue itself as part of its arrangement, “In Motion” relies on the acoustic reflections of the room to create a unique tone that is weaved into the songcreating a new varient of the song with each performance.

DEMIURGE

The demiurge is defined by Gnosticism as a false god: one who governs a world of their own creation, trapping its citizens in a false sense of security – whimsy whimsy whimsy!

This piece revolves around the retrieval of “gnosis” – knowledge which exists outside the false world – to break out of the demiurge’s conformations. Featuring modal shifts and elaborations on rhythmic patterns, both in note value and tessitura, Demiurge charts the musical journeys of the clarinet and the alto saxophone to retrieve their gnosis.

BLUEOLIVE

Blue Olive (Sama’i Bayati Alzaytun Alazraq) and its twin Yellow Olive were written for solo oud, in the traditional Ottoman form sama’i and in the maqam (scale) Bayati. These pieces are inspired by Palestinian-American internet presence Subhi (@sbeih.jpg)’s recollections of his family’s olive orchard in Nablus, West Bank. From environmental and musical perspectives, it pays homage to and celebrates the preservation of indigeneity.
