Tonight's concert will feature some of Australia's emerging talent in the jazz arena. The music will be comprised of original repertoire from James Sandon's soon to be released album recorded in Perth, Western Australia this year.
D’Addario Australia artist JAMES SANDON, from Perth, attended the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), at Edith Cowan University. James has performed and recorded extensively throughout Australia, Asia, and North America. Formerly a lecturer in jazz saxophone and Improvisation at his alma mater, Edith Cowan University, James is currently a lecturer in jazz saxophone, theory and improvisation at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. TYLER COONEY is a Brisbane-based guitarist. Performing many different styles such as Jazz, Rock, Metal, etc., he has a wide range of dynamic capability and is adaptable to any musical environment. Tyler leads his own bands around Brisbane and is about to embark on the ‘Modern Ideal’ tour launching his new album. BRENDAN FOSTER is an Australian vibraphonist and composer, who writes and performs within the Jazz sphere. His sound offers a unique perspective and complements the many artists with whom he shares the stage. ELLIOTT PARKER is a double bassist living in Brisbane, Australia. He has developed a superlative feel for jazz rhythm and tone making him an in-demand bassist in the music scene. Elliott has had the opportunity to showcase his skills across Australia and abroad. CHRIS EVANS comes from a family of musicians and music enthusiasts, and in recent years, has started to make his mark as one of the more serious jazz drummers to come through Brisbane. Playing with many different band leaders, Evans is becoming one of the more widely used rhythm section players around.
