WELCOME Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University and Centenary Heights State High School welcomes you to the fifth annual State Honours Ensemble Program Darling Downs. SHEP Darling Downs gives young musicians the opportunity to work with a team of eminent Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University conductors. Participants have travelled from throughout the region for this innovative and intensive weekend program. Through Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, Open Conservatorium seeks to make quality music performance and educational activities accessible throughout Queensland by providing a range of initiatives in partnership with regional schools, instrumental and classroom music teachers. Thanks to our valued partnership with Centenary Heights State High School, Executive Principal Maryanne Walsh and Staff, SHEP Darling Downs will continue to develop further opportunities for young musicians in the coming years. Queensland Conservatorium thanks State Honours Ensemble Program Darling Downs 2021 participants, their parents/caregivers and families, conductors, teachers, secondary educational institutions throughout Queensland, Education Queensland and Griffith University staff for their continuing support of the State Honours Ensemble Program in Brisbane, the Darling Downs, Far North Queensland and North Queensland, Central Queensland and Wide Bay.

YOUNG CONSERVATORIUM Young Conservatorium recognises talent and we delight in nurturing it, engaging young musicians through to adulthood. All our ensembles, classes and individual tuition are held at the Queensland Conservatorium.
EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC The Early Childhood Music program creates a fun and engaging musical learning environment for infants and children, with their parents or caregivers involved. Suitable for children between 2 – 5 years of age.
YOUNG BEGINNER An introduction to practical instrumental music, the Young Beginner program is the natural offshoot of the Young Conservatorium’s Early Childhood Music activities. Suitable for children between 5 – 7 years of age.
INDIVIDUAL TUITION Young Conservatorium provides Individual Tuition to students of all levels, from absolute beginner to those preparing for tertiary entry, in both classical and contemporary styles.
LARGE/ SMALL ENSEMBLES Ensembles are not just about performance but also about learning. Young Conservatorium prides itself on the pedagogy that underpins the performance program, especially in the ensemble environment.
MUSICAL AWARENESS Musical Awareness is offered to students who wish to develop and acquire theoretical and practical skills through the study of music elements.
