The Legacy of Argie Lee Tardy . . . June 5, 1925 – April 18, 2022 . . .
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 On April 18, 2022, following a full life of unshakeable faith, immeasurable love, and service to all mankind, ARGIE LEE TARDY peacefully departed this life, and took her final rest with our Heavenly Father. Argie was born on June 5, 1925, in Yemassee, South Carolina to Archie Cochran and Sarah Jackson. She was the youngest of six daughters. She was educated in the public schools of Hampton County. Argie was raised in Yemassee, South Carolina until she was 14 years old. At that time, she moved to New Brunswick, New Jersey, where she met her husband. She was joined in holy matrimony to Ernest Asbury Tardy, Sr. in 1944. From their union, God blessed them with six children: Ernest Jr., affectionately known as “Sonny”, Jerome, Dennis, Gloria, Marsha and Blaine. They later moved to Carteret, New Jersey where they raised their family. During her time in New Jersey, she worked at a textile coat factory and later an infant clothing factory, Mayfair Infant Wear, until she retired. Argie was a devout Christian and spent her time singing in the choir and serving with the missionary society at First Baptist Church. In 1991, she and her husband relocated to Augusta, Georgia, where her youngest daughter and family resided. Argie will be most remembered for her infamous Sunday dinners. Every Sunday, everyone was invited for dinner. All were welcomed, as one of her favorite past times was to cook for others. That was the way she expressed her love for those around her. If anyone ever experienced a Sunday dinner, you certainly were fortunate enough to experience her love for people. She was preceded in death by: her parents; five sisters; husband, Ernest A. Tardy, Sr.; and three sons, Ernest A. Tardy, Jr., Dennis Tardy and Blaine Tardy. Argie leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy of faith, service, and love: three children, Jerome R. (Marina) Tardy, Gloria Jean Brown, Marsha Kay (Jerry) Brooks; thirteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME
God came and took me home. I am okay now; I am not alone. No more suffering, no more pain, no more crying, sheltered from rain. I am full of life now more than ever, And one day again, we’ll be together. I know you’re hurting, but your weeping shall not last, Joy will come tomorrow, and all your sorrows shall pass. Please do not worry, I’m in a better place. My God came and saved me with his amazing grace. For I am in Heaven, no more pain to endure, I will be with my Father forever more.
