Celebrating the Life of

Mrs. Kahalia C. Williams KAHALIA WILLIAMS entered into rest at Augusta University Health Center on November 4, 2021. She was born in Sanford, Florida on December 30, 1958. She grew up there with her family and was a 1976 graduate of Seminole High School. Kahalia, affectionately known as “Jilly”, made Hephzibah, Georgia her permanent home after meeting the love of her life, Rufus, in Miami, Florida. They moved here together in 1980 to raise their family, dedicating their lives to one another in marriage and to God. They became faithful members of World Outreach Evangelistic Church, where she was a choir member, and later ordained as a minister. After years of service at her home church, together they would answer Heaven’s call of becoming pastors of Straight Up Fellowship Ministries. Kahalia was all about family. Even though her entire immediate family lived hundreds of miles away in Florida, she remained close to them and visited often. She was a pillar of strength in her family and was admired as a strong matriarch. She was not only a devoted wife and mother, but a loving daughter, sister, cousin, niece, and aunt; a supportive grandmother, “granny”, and beloved and loyal friend. She worked as a certified cook in the Richmond County School system for years. Kahalia cooked and shared her delicious meals and wisdom with her family and closest friends around her own dinner table. These were truly treasured moments. She leaves a legacy that is strong and undeniable, one of a kind. Kahalia was preceded in death by: her father, Benny Shaw; brothers, Toby L. Wilds and Benny Strawter; sister, Evelyn Williams; brother-in-law, Willie Grayson, Sr.; and son-in-law, Chris L. Singleton, Sr. She is survived by: her loving husband, Rufus Williams; daughters, Eunice Byrd, Carnethia Wilds and Moriah Williams; mother, Eunice D. Wilds; sister, Mattie Grayson; brothers, Nicholas Strawter and Gilbert Strawter; seven grandchildren, Urijah D. Wilds (Christen), Naomi V. Wilds, Ivory M. Wilds, Torrey M. Byrd, II, Isaiah D. Byrd, Chris L. Singleton, Jr. and Olivia Belle Williams-Johnson; great grandson, Landen LeVelle Wilds; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and special friends.
