PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Hello everyone - thanks for making the picnic and all the good food We had a nice time getting to know each other and seeing what volunteer positions are available to help make our guild the best that it can be for all of us.

We have lots of wonderful classes scheduled for the rest of the year - and they are working on more classes for the future.

We have a homebodies retreat planned - with a cap of attendees - so sign up now. Our retreat in January is available for signing up also. Lots of opportunities to sew and learn about other people that like the same things you do!

If you have any questions or suggestions - please reach out to a board member - and ask. We would love to help answer questions about anything Things have changed a lot in the last five years - we are trying to make it better for all Getting back together and sewing for fun is part of that!

Hope to see everyone at the next meeting which is in the evening and we will have a great presentation - so come ready to learn new things. Stay cool and sewing,

Quilts of Valor ~ Quilts of Valor Group, All About Quilting ~ Kirsta Meadows

Thanks for all of your help in making veterans smile. Would you like to make a quilt? We have kits available - or if you have a pattern you would like to try and need fabric - send me the requirements and I can pull donated fabric to make it happen for you!

Want to sew with five inch squares - we have a lot cut. Want to sew with 2 1/2 inch squares - we have alot cut. We have blocks that are already done and need put into quilt tops. Just let us know and we can make it happen!

If you have checked out www.qovf.org free pattern and thought you could go back anytime - it has been announced that they are taking them off and will put up new ones. So if you want any - you will need to print them or save them to your own space.

If you haven't checked it out yet - take a minute and do - and note that there will be new designs coming after August!

Thanks everyone for making the smiles. Kirsta

QBTS Retreat 2025 at Trinity Center - For those of you who've never been to our Trinity Retreat, here’s a bird’s eye view! Trinity Center is located adjacent to the beach in Pine Knoll Shores , NC. Trinity Center is a beautiful rustic getaway by the sea, operated as a Retreat Center by the Episcopal Diocese of Eastern NC. They provide all meals & our own spacious building, the main conference center for all of our quilting & social activities.

Our retreat-style accommodations are just a short walk away through the woods, in their housing clusters. Each cluster has its own living room. Each unit has a private bath & 2 beds & shares a hallway with one other unit; 12 units to a cluster. Accessible rooms are available. You will need your best walking shoes or mobility devices as paths through the woods are dark at night & not so level. Double & single-occupancy rooms are available.

In order to keep Trinity Center’s price increase from taking a bigger bite than absolutely necessary this year & as attendees requested, Retreat Committee will be paring back on gifts, decorations, & duplications of food & drink items that members traditionally bring to Retreat anyway (think beverages of choice & snack/social items). You will be asked to bring your own lidded cup/mug for drinks. We will still have all our fun & games, socials, and a few fairy gifts! YES, you can sign up for a double room & get matched up with a roommate, like I did, my first time to retreat—Great way to meet other members & have a wonderful time! If you are thinking of RETREAT 2025 & have QUESTIONS.... Reach out to Joyce Marks or Alice Rainey.
