Quinnipiac University School of Law The Quinnipiac University School of Law is located on the main university campus (Mount Carmel Campus), set against the picturesque backdrop of Sleeping Giant State Park. While this scenic surrounding can create the illusion you are in a largely rural environment, Hamden is a vibrant and active town of about 60,000 residents. Combining the best elements of small-town New England life with the cultural and entertainment offerings of an urban center, Hamden is the perfect blend of urban and suburban, with the beaches of Long Island Sound only twenty minutes away. The town of Hamden provides its own array of shops, dining options, and historic attractions, and the natural beauty of the area is preserved in its many parks and trails. As part of the greater New Haven area, Hamden is minutes away from the diverse cultural, entertainment, and culinary options of downtown New Haven. For those seeking to venture beyond Connecticut, Quinnipiac Law is located in the heart of New England, about ninety minutes from New York City, two hours from Boston, and three hours from many of Vermont’s finest ski resorts. If you have any questions about the law school or the community, please do not hesitate to contact the Office of Admissions at ladm@quinnipiac.edu or 203-582-3400. Restaurants (Hamden)

Restaurants (new Haven)

Hamden has the usual variety of chain restaurants, but also has diverse and delicious local dining options.

New Haven is a food-lover’s paradise, home to fabulous restaurants serving world-class food. For example, The Original Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, was chosen by the Food Network as “Connecticut’s Best Pizza” and by Zagat as “Connecticut’s Most Popular Restaurant” in 2011.

Aunt Chilada’s serves reasonably priced Mexican food and is often the host of the Student Bar Association’s Halloween party. The Side Street Grille has great hamburgers, free wings on Thursdays and an eclectic menu in a casual atmosphere. Wentworth’s Ice Cream on Whitney Avenue offers some of the best homemade ice cream in Connecticut, while FroYo World and Peachy Keen Frozen Yogurt Cafe allow you to choose your favorite frozen yogurt flavor and then pile on the toppings. For a more upscale lunch or dinner, Ristorante Luce on Whitney Avenue serves award-winning Italian cuisine. Near Dixwell Avenue, Eli’s on Whitney is a popular food choice and local hang out. Taste, on Whitney Avenue, offers a high quality menu serving American cuisine. If an ever-changing menu of craft beers such as Allagash, New Belgium or Stone interest you, then head to Mikro Craft Beer Bar. For excellent Japanese cuisine, head to Kumo, Sakura Garden, or Sono Bana, three of the best in the area. Other popular local restaurants to consider are Playwright Irish Pub Restaurant, Park Central Tavern, Ixtapa Grill, and Sushi Palace (a favorite for all-youcan-eat sushi), Tonino’s Pizza, Mickey’s Restaurant and Bar, Gourmet Heaven, Monster Grille, and Ray & Mike’s Dairy & Deli.

Another great choice is Louis’ Lunch, well known for serving one of GQ magazine’s “20 Hamburgers You Must Eat Before You Die” as well as being named the Tastiest Burger in America by the Travel Channel. It is also said to be the birthplace of the hamburger sandwich. Just be sure to check the hours before you go as they are not always open for lunch, despite the name. Here’s a brief sampling of what is also available in the area: Bar, Barcelona, Bentara, Black Bear Saloon, Café Goodfellas, Carmen Anthony’s Steakhouse, Caseus, Claire’s Corner Copia (vegetarian), Geronimo, Kudeta, Modern Apizza, Pacifico, Sally’s Pizza (a favorite of Frank Sinatra), Skappo Italian Wine Bar, Soul de Cuba, Tandoor, Temple Street Bar & Grill, and Thai Taste.

Restaurant Week Twice a year, New Haven and Hamden host separate restaurant weeks. These are a great opportunity to get a delicious meal at a fabulous deal.
