Points West Quinnipiac will travel to West Point, N.Y. to take on the United States Military Academy on Tuesday, March 22 at 3 p.m. Quinnipiac has won three straight and stand at 7-5 overall while Army has won four of their last five to improve to 5-11 on the year. Historical Start Quinnipiac, at 7-5 overall, are off their best start in the programβs Division I history while their 3-1 NEC mark is their best start to conference play since the 2006 season. The Bobcats best NEC schedule start all-time was in 2004 when they won their first six conference games before finishing the NEC slate at 16-4. In First Place After losing their NEC opener on Friday, March 18 to Fairleigh Dickinson, Quinnipiac rattled off a league-best three straight wins and currently sit in a three-way first-place tie with Central Connecticut State and Monmouth at 3-1. Outscoring FDU The Bobcats outscored the Knights 26-14 for the series.
Comeback Kids? Sundayβs series finale, in which Quinnipiac trailed 6-0 after the second inning, marked the first time in four games in which its opponent scored first that Quinnipiac won the game, and also the first time Quinnipiac trailed after the sixth inning and won
Mr. 200 Ben Farina (Waterford, Conn.) continues his trek to become the seventh player in Quinnipiac history to record 200 hits with three this weekend to push his career total to 198. Farina is currently second on the team with 17 hits while leading the team with six stolen bases. Hit Dog Team hit-leader Mickey Amanti (Waterford, Conn.) led Quinnipiac last week with nine hits, includin three for extra bases, while posting a .375 average. He also scored a teamhigh six runs. Against FDU he led Quinnipiac with six hits, three doubles and four runs scored. Amanti also drew a walk and was hit by a pitch twice to post a .474 on-base percentage. The senior shortstop was also 2-for-3 on stolen base attempts. The Mick Amanti currently leads the team in hits (18), average (.346), doubles (4), runs scored (11) and total bases (22).
Capβn Crunch In six games last week, Chris Migani (Orange, Conn.) batted .353 (6-17) with a homerun, nine RBI, two doubles and five runs scored. Migani was also 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts while posting team-highs in slugging percentage (.647) and on-base percentage (.500).
He Really Wanted That Series In the Bobcatsβ NEC-opening series against Fairleigh Dickinson, Migani batted .385 (513) including a 4-for-10 clip with a homerun, two doubles and eight RBI in the Bobcatsβ three wins. Migani also posted team-highs in slugging percentage (.769), total bases (10) and on-base percentage (.500). Migani stole five bases against the Knights, including three in the Bobcatsβ 3-2 win in Game 3 of the four-game series. The junior captain drove in Amanti with a sacrifice fly for the game-winning run in the Bobcatsβ 11-6 come-from-behind win in the seriesβ final game. Way To Lead... For the year, Migani is hitting .297 (11-37) while leading the team in home runs (1) and RBI (12) while also totaling three doubles and scoring 10 runs. He has also posted a team-high .459 slugging percentage and a .463 on-base percentage after drawing a team-high 10 walks in 12 games.
Consistently On Base He is one of two Quinnipiac players β along with Ben Farina - to reach base safely in all 12 of the Bobcatsβ games.

2011 Quinnipiac University Baseball Game Notes March 22 at Army β’ QuinnipiacBobcats.com Power At The Corner Third baseman Joe Poletsky (Riverside, Conn.) clubbed the Bobcatsβ first home run of the season, a three-run bomb in the third inning of the first game of the series that ultimately ended in a loss. 2-Gβs Guerino hit a team-high .389 (7-18) for the week includin a .417 (5-12)clip against FDU, with a 3-for-3 day with a two-run homer that put Quinnipiac on the board in their comeback win on Sunday.
Georgie Boy George Dummar (Branford, Conn.) came on in relief in the fourth game of the Bobcatsβ four-game NEC series against Fairleigh Dickinson, with Quinnipiac trailing 6-0, and slammed the door on the Knights, holding them scoreless on five hits while striking out nine over the final eight innings pitched. Dummar didnβt allow a runner past second base until the seventh inning, when he pitched out of a bases loaded jam with Quinnipiac trailing 6-4. He sat down the next four batters, through the eighth inning and to start the ninth, before giving up a single and then hitting a batter. Dummar struck out the final two batters he faced on the afternoon. Did I Catch A Niner In There? #9 Anthony Cinelli (Wall, N.J.) improved to 2-0 on the season while also lowering his earned-run-average to 0.64 after he scattered five hits over six innings while giving up two unearned runs.
Good Run In 14 innings of work to date, Cinelli has allowed 12 hits and four runs β three of which were unearned. Cinelli has pitched 10 consecutive innings, spanning three games, without giving up an earned run. The Good DL Derek Lamaccia (Whitestone, N.Y.) improved to 2-1 on the season, while lowering his ERA to 1.00, with a seven-inning shutout against FDU on Friday. Lamaccia gave up six hits while striking out five for his second straight victory.
Another Good Run Lamacchia has given up just two earned runs in 18 innings of work this season while holding opposing teams to 16 hits and striking out 14. Lamaccia currently leads Quinnipiac in innings pitched and strikeouts. Youth Movement In two save opportunities, freshman Ryan Walsh (Stamford, Conn.) is 2-for-2 while allowing just two hits over 2 2/3 innings pitched.
Akadema Northeast Conference Player of the Week Ben Farina was named the 19th Quinnipiac player in NEC history to take home an Akadema Northeast Conference Player of the Week honor. Farina strung together three straight multiple-hit performances on his way to a .429 (6-14) average for the weekend. Farina notched two hits, stole a base, and scored a run in each of the three contests.

DAN GOOLEY Head Coach 21st season Quinnipiac β70
tion, Gooley served six seasons as an assistant baseball coach at Quinnipiac.
In 2004, he guided the Bobcats to a 23-21 overall record, 16-7 in Northeast Conference play. Quinnipiac finished second in the league during the regular season and advanced to the NEC Playoffs. He was named the Northeast Conference Coach of the Year and the Connecticut Baseball College Coach of the Year. In 2005, the Bobcats finished 26-24 and captured their firstever NEC regular season and tournament championships. Gooleyβs Quinnipiac squad has gotten better in each season since his return. The 26 wins matches a high for wins in a single season at Quinnipiac. The 1988 club went to a Division II regional after posting a 26-8-1 record. In addition, the 2005 squad advanaced to their first-ever Division I NCAA Regional at the University of Texas.
Dan Gooley `70 was hired as Quinnipiacβs 10th head baseball coach on June 7, 2001. Gooley, who coached the Bobcats from 1977-1987 and is its all-time leader in coaching victories, replaced Joe Mattei, who retired in May 2001 after five seasons.
In 26 years as a head coach at Quinnipiac and the University of Hartford, Gooley has accumulated an impressive 488-467-8 (.509) overall record. His record at Quinnipiac, in 21 years as the teamβs head coach, he has compiled a 387-377-7 (.505) record. In that span, he coached former major leaguers Turk Wendell (Quinnipiac) and Jeff Bagwell (Hartford) and current major leaguer Pat Egan In his first tenure as head coach at Quinnipiac, Gooley led the Bobcats to a 203-122-5 record in 11 seasons, including five 20-win campaigns, three NCAA Division II regional appearances (1979, 1983, and 1984) and the schoolβs lone College World Series appearance (1983). In a three-year span from 1982-84, Gooleyβs team totaled a 72-25-1 mark (.740).
Gooley then moved to the University of Hartford and served five seasons as the head coach of the Hawksβ Division I program. From 1988-1992, Gooley compiled a 101-90-1 (.529) record and led the Hawks to two appearances in the ECAC Division I Championships. In 1988, Gooley was named the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Coaches Associationβs Coach of the Year after leading the Hawks to a outstanding 29-12 record and a runner-up finish in the ECAC Championships. For three years before his return to coach the Bobcats, Gooley served as Quinnipiacβs director of athletic development, spearheading corporate and alumni support for the Universityβs three-year Division I athletic program. Prior to his arrival at Quinnipiac, Gooley spent six years as the director of team services/major league baseball for the Starter Corporation in New Haven.
A member of the Quinnipiac Alumni Athletic Hall of Fame, Gooley had a storied playing career for the Bobcats. The schoolβs career strikeout leader (316), Gooley ranks second with 20 victories and a 2.47 earned run average. After gradua-
2007 was a banner year for the Quinnipiac baseball team. The Bobcats took the Northeast Conference Championship and were seeded No. 1 in the NEC Championship Tournament. The Bobcats also tied the 1988 team for the most wins in a season while also setting the Division I mark at Quinnipiac. Gooleyβs 2008 team featured four players who would go on to play professionally in Pat Egan, Tim Binkoski, Randy Gress and Wilson Matos.
Gooley, who holds a B.S. in marketing from Quinnipiac and a masterβs degree in sociology from Southern Connecticut State University, resides in New Haven with his wife Susan and daughter Bree, who is currently enrolled at Quinnipiac.
