BODY TYPE
Less than 10% of the US population possesses what we call the hourglass shape: one where the widest part of your bust is within 1”-2” of the widest part of your hips…. So good for you! If you have this shape, the goal is to follow the lines of your body without overemphasizing them.
FIT GOALS Always highlight the smallest part of your waist Wear silhouettes and fabric that follow the lines of your body Minimize hip and bust with design details
STYLE DETAILS Belted waistlines and clothing the nips at the waist, such as wrapped tops & dresses or side ruching Single button at the waist Flat front pants

SHOPPING FOR YOUR BODY TYPE
SHOPPING DO’S Wear shaped and fitted lines. Avoid bulk and volume around your curves. NECKLINES: Scoop and square neck, low and wide necklines. HEMLINES: Knee-length or longer, pencil skirts. Follow your body line - define your waist, enhance your bust and highlight your hips and bottom.
SHOPPING DONT’S Any styles and shapes that hide your natural body shape. Anything that will add extra volume to your waist. Straight shapes that hide your waist. High necklines that cover up your cleavage and décolleté (e.g. turtle neck).
SHOPPING RULES Rule of 3: can you wear it with at least 3 items in your closet? For 3 different kinds of occasions? Try. It. On. Hanger appeal is not a great judge of how it will look on your body. If you’re on the fence, take it to the fitting room!

STYLE PERSONALITY
All black everything is your motto, it is your uniform, your suit of armor to face the streets of New York. Here are some tips for your look: Spice up your look with a leather jacket. Pair with tailored trousers and booties for a cool work to cocktail hour look. Tea length is the new mini - take it for a spin with a dress or skirt. Going all black helps keep the tricky hemline slimming. Swap out those tired black work pants with joggers; when paired with a heel it updates your standard work attire.

CLOSET TIPS!
A short list of tips on how to turn your closet into a treasure trove of outfits: Flip all of your hangers to face the same direction. Every time you wear an item, put it back into your closet with the hanger hook facing the other direction so you know you've worn it. In 3 months you'll have a better of idea of what is simply decoration in your closet and in 6 months, you will know with certainty what to donate, consign, or trash. Pair one of your "go-to" piece with something new. You know that dress you're wearing every other / every week? Maybe it's time to give it a rest and your colleagues (or significant others) some excitement. Layer a button down under that dress, or put a cardigan or jacket on top and cinch it with a printed belt. Remember: if you buy a piece you can't wear with at least 3 items in your closet, you're not just paying for that skirt, you're paying for the top, jacket, shoes, and jewelry to go with that dress. Hang your jewelry next to your closet. We often have clients that tell us they need help accessorizing, yet we see jewelry boxes but no jewelry. If you don't see it, you won't wear it. Lastly, write down what your personal goals are. If you want to be "Classic, Sophisticated, and Chic," write that on a post it and put it next to your full length mirror. Does the reflection reflect how you want to be perceived?
