YOUR PERSONAL STYLE ASSESSMENT

PERSONAL BRAND = Tailored, Bohemian Chic BODY TYPE = Proportionate STYLE PERSONALITY = Modern Bohemian, Urban Sophisticate

BODY TYPE

Less than 10% of the US population possesses what we call the hourglass shape: one where the widest part of your bust is within 1”-2” of the widest part of your hips…. So good for you! If you have this shape, the goal is to follow the lines of your body without overemphasizing them.

FIT GOALS Always highlight the smallest part of your waist Wear silhouettes and fabric that follow the lines of your body Minimize hip and bust with design details

STYLE DETAILS Belted waistlines and clothing the nips at the waist, such as wrapped tops & dresses or side ruching Single button at the waist Flat front pants

SHOPPING FOR YOUR BODY TYPE

SHOPPING DO’S Lucky for you, almost any style top and dress will work your body type Look for wraps, waistcoats, layering and crossover details that will highlight your natural shape and waist Jackets in fitted shapes with waist definition work best to highlight your body, but other styles are fine as well

SHOPPING DONT’S Avoid any styles and shapes that hide your natural body shape Anything that will add extra volume to your waistline, such as thick or bulky waistbands

SHOPPING RULES Rule of 3: can you wear it with at least 3 items in your closet? For 3 different kinds of occasions? Try. It. On. Hanger appeal is not a great judge of how it will look on your body. If you’re on the fence, take it to the fitting room!

STYLE PERSONALITY

To find your laid-back, city look, indulge in prints and 70’s silhouettes. Here are some tips for your bohemian look: Incorporate select accessories to get the look: a leather jacket and floral print will do the trick. Swap out gladiator sandals for strappy high heels to go from day to night. A printed maxi dress works in and out of the streets of New York. Boot and flare leg jeans have come back in the last few years - they’ll give any look a 70’s vibe.

STYLE PERSONALITY

Where uptown meets downtown Brooklyn. Here are some tips for your look: Invest in a structured pencil skirt to upgrade more casual tops; pair with your suede booties and this can take you from your Midtown meetings to running errands. Instantly hit a "cool" note when you trade your old dress pants for leather trousers or, for a less dramatic approach, trousers with velvet or leather trim As a more fashion-forward alternative to the coat or cardigan try the trench vest. They are structured enough for work, and great to pump up your weekend looks

CLOSET TIPS!

A short list of tips on how to turn your closet into a treasure trove of outfits: Flip all of your hangers to face the same direction. Every time you wear an item, put it back into your closet with the hanger hook facing the other direction so you know you've worn it. In 3 months you'll have a better of idea of what is simply decoration in your closet and in 6 months, you will know with certainty what to donate, consign, or trash. Pair one of your "go-to" piece with something new. You know that dress you're wearing every other / every week? Maybe it's time to give it a rest and your colleagues (or significant others) some excitement. Layer a button down under that dress, or put a cardigan or jacket on top and cinch it with a printed belt. Remember: if you buy a piece you can't wear with at least 3 items in your closet, you're not just paying for that skirt, you're paying for the top, jacket, shoes, and jewelry to go with that dress. Hang your jewelry next to your closet. We often have clients that tell us they need help accessorizing, yet we see jewelry boxes but no jewelry. If you don't see it, you won't wear it. Lastly, write down what your personal goals are. If you want to be "Classic, Sophisticated, and Chic," write that on a post it and put it next to your full length mirror. Does the reflection reflect how you want to be perceived?
