Architecture is Prague's biggest draw card. Thanks to a stint in the 14th century as the de facto capital of what remained of the Holy Roman Empire and the good fortune of having mostly avoided destruction in countless wars over the centuries, Prague is a living laboratory of 1000 years of European architecture. Tips what you have to see: Prague castle, Old Town Square (Astronomical Clock), Charles Bridge. Of all the performing arts, Czechs have arguably made their greatest contribution in music, and Prague is a great place to sample the sonatas. It was here where Mozart chose to premiere his opera, Don Giovanni, fearing Viennese audiences at the time wouldn't get such a demanding piece of music. Today, the commitment to classical and opera continues in the form of the Prague Spring music festival in May, and at high-brow venues like the Rudolfinum and National Theatre. Czechs are rightly known around the world for producing the world's best beer; certainly the light, Pilsner-style lager would top anyone's ‘best’ list. Most of the better national labels, like Pilsner Urquell and Budweiser, are actually brewed outside the capital (Staropramen is made in Prague), but Prague has its share of great pubs and watering holes, where freshly brewed beer from the provinces is hauled in in massive tanks and doled out amid much fanfare to the thirsty masses. Prague ZOO is said to be one of the best in Europe and could easily keep your kids busy for one entire day. The ZOO does its best to be a pleasant and interesting place for everybody and if you take a few minutes and organize your trip it can really be an unforgettable experience.

National Theatre

The National Theatre is the Czech Republic’s representative stage. It is one of the symbols of Czech national identity and a part of the European cultural arena. It is a bearer of national cultural heritage and at the same time an arena for free artistic creativity. The theatre is a living artistic organization which understands tradition as imposing a task and duty to find constantly new interpretation and an endeavor to achieve the highest artistic quality.

The Image Theatre in Prague offers an ideal introduction to black light theatre. This typically Czech art form is a world of illusory creations and hidden secrets, the story told through a mix of mime, modern dance, ballet, animated film, actors and/or puppets. The show takes the visitor on a path from total darkness to vivid lights and colors in the extreme. The times of intense darkness are full of fantasy. Poetic pictures approach from the mysterious. The actors are invisible. Then suddenly they appear, bright as day and alarmingly close. Tip: Please note- temporary address of Image Theatre is Betlémská 5, Prague 1

The National Gallery in Prague houses domestic and international art collections. With over 400 000 objects of art the National Gallery in Prague is the largest and most important art institution in the Czech Republic that cares about the national art treasure and heritage. The background of the National Gallery in Prague goes back to 1796. Where to find Prague’s main exhibition? In Sternberg Palace in Hradčany you will find a collection of European art from antiquity through the Baroque. The works on display include those by Tintoretto, Ribera, El Greco, Rubens, van Dyck and Rembrandt, as well as one of the most famous paintings in the world, The Feast of the Rosary by Albrecht Dürer. In St. Agnes Convent in Old Town you can see an exhibition of medieval and early Renaissance art from the Czech Republic and Central Europe. On display in the authentic environment of the first monastery of the Poor Clares in Bohemia, probably founded in 1231 by St. Agnes Czech, are rare panel paintings by Master Theodoric or a painting of the Madonna and Child by Lucas Cranach the Elder. Baroque art is on display inside the Schwarzenberg Palace on Castle Square, with paintings by Hans von Aachen, Karel Škréta, Petr Brandl and Jan Kupecký. You can also see a graphical cabinet with a unique collection of the work of Václav Hollar and an exhibit of Baroque crafts from the collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts. At the Fairgrounds Palace, in its time the first functionalist building in Prague, the famous Slav Epic by Art Nouveau painter Alfons Mucha was introduced to the public for the first time in 1928. It is still on display here even now; in addition you can also see the paintings, sculptures and applied art of Czech and foreign artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. You will discover here the works of French Impressionists, Gustav Klimt, Oskar Kokoschka, Edvard Munch, Egon Schiele and Joan Miró. The art of Asia and the ancient Mediterranean is on display on Old Town Square in Kinský Palace, the most beautiful rococo building in Prague. Palladium Shopping centre

Pařížská Street is considered the most exclusive street in the whole of Prague. The street links the Old Town Square with the Čechův Bridge and on both sides it is lined with mainly Art Noveau beautifully decorated residential buildings, most of them were built in the first decade of the 20th century. There would hardly be a place in Prague with a higher concentration of luxurious shops than here. You can buy here jewellery, cosmetics, Bohemian glass but there is one category that beats the others – fashion.

Palladium is a modern shopping centre with a large variety of shops and restaurants in the very centre of Prague. It is situated at the Republic Square (Náměstí Republiky) right across the Municipal house and Powder Tower. On 5 floors there are almost 200 shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and the shopping centre has an underground garage for 900 cars. The car park, even though it’s paid, is very practical and you will appreciate it especially when you go to the cinema or theatre nearby.
