Visitation - 10:00AM | Celebration of Life - 11:00AM New Life Covenant SouthEast 1021 East 78th Street • Chicago, Illinois Senior Pastor John Hannah, Eulogist
Christine Barrett was the fourth child born to the late Reverend Robert and Carrie Brunner on Sunday, December 23, 1923 in Meridian, Mississippi. This was a joyous day in the Brunner household, as Christine was the first daughter born to this union of four sons. Christine’s childhood years were spent in Meridian. She was educated in the Meridian public-school system. During her high school years, she met and fell in love with the most popular boy in school, Clifton Barrett Sr. At the age of 16, she graduated from high school. After a short engagement, Clifton and Christine were married. That union lasted 64 years, until his transition in October 2005. As young adults, Christine and Clifton moved to Chicago, IL. She worked at Michael Reese Hospital for many years; however, Christine decided to change the trajectory of her career and became a stay at home Homemaker to her husband and children. Christine, a strong woman of unwavering Faith, received Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior early in life. As a devoted member of First Church of Deliverance, under the leadership of the late Reverend Clarence H. Cobb, she served on the nurse’s board for more than 20 years. In her later years, the Lord lead her to serve under the leadership of many apostolic anointed leaders: R.W. Schambach, Pastor E.R. Allen, Apostle Richard D. Henton and Pastor John Hannah. She was very committed to whatever assignment the Lord would lay on her heart. One of Christine’s divine assignments was to intercede in prayer for Pastor Hannah and her New Life Southeast Church family. Christine’s vision was to witness God manifest, “The Temple”; the church God lead Pastor Hannah to have built on the southside of Chicago. She often said, “I am not leaving this earth until the Temple is built”. Today, ‘The Temple”, that beautiful edaphus, stands on the southside of Chicago in the Grand Crossing Community. To God be the Glory! To say Christine loved her family, is a severe understatement. Family was everything to her. Her family brought her immeasurable joy, happiness and peace. Christine kept close tabs on her family. She loved them deeply and checked on everyone daily. Christine went home to rest with her Lord and Savior on January 16, 2020. She was proceded in leaving this world by her mother and father: Robert and Carrie; her husband, Clifton Sr., eight siblings: Charles, Flynn, George, Jesse, Moses, Orlanda, Mary and Lee. She leaves an accomplished and distinguished family to carry on her legacy of Faith her son, Skip Barrett II (wife Barbara) and her daughter Crystal, Three grandchildren, Clifton Barrett III. (wife Jameelah) Elyse and Christyn, one great grandchild ZoeGrace and a host of loving nephews, nieces and cousins.

Tributes Mom, I’m so glad God gave me you. Thank you for loving me beyond my faults, being my biggest supporter and my best friend, for being selfless in every way. For teaching me to pray, and to give God praise, honor and glory no matter what. The world is different now that you’re gone, I will learn to function in my “new normal”. ...Life without you. We had an amazing ride, together! I love you, rest in the Lord. Psalms 91 I Love You,
Crystal “Mikki” Barrett To my Grandmother, The most consistent, patient, humble, supportive, trustworthy, God fearing human force in my life, since the genesis of my life. Adjusting to you not physically being here will be an ongoing task, but your sweet spirit coupled with what you instilled in me about having a strong relationship with God and always depending on him, I will make it through now and in my days ahead. I thank God for placing you as an anchor in my life along with my grandfather and it brings me joy to know that you all are together again. I’ll love you forever and thank you for always being in my corner. Rest peacefully knowing that I will ALWAYS stay with God! With Love,
Clifton III A woman of God, a woman of grace, a woman of so much love, a woman of faith. A woman
of wisdom, a woman of strength, a woman of integrity, a woman of what peace truly meant.
Jameelah To my Beautiful Aunt Christine, You have loved me since I was born and now at 63, your love permeates in my heart forever. I miss you immensely, yet I know I will see you again. You treated me as your daughter, and I honored you as if you were my own mother. Thank you for loving all of my children as they adored and loved you too. My heart aches because I won’t get to hear your voice every morning. Every morning for the last 15 years or more, we talked, we laughed and we shared what we Chrystle and Raquel cooked us for breakfast and dinner! I cherish the days we shared in person, via phone and most recently FaceTime. I don’t have adequate words to describe my hurt, yet there is joy in my soul because you are not in pain and you are with our Messiah Jesus. I love you Aunt Chris & yes I know you love me more & forever! Your Niece,
Brenda Fay Hayes
“Don’t Weep For Me” Do not weep for me for I have not gone. I am the wind that shakes the mighty Oak. I am the gentle rain that falls upon your face. I am the spring flower that pushes through the dark earth. I am the chuckling laughter of the mountain stream. Do not weep for me for I have not gone. I am the memory that dwells in the heart of those that knew me. I am the shadow that dances on the edge of your vision. I am the wild goose that flies south at Autumns call and I shall return at Summer rising. I am the stag on the wild hills way. I am just around the corner. Therefore, the wise weep not. But rejoice at the transformation of my Being.
