On Saturday, July 25th, 2020, Dorothy Gore-Pettiford passed away after 87 wonderful years as the Lord brought her home and her spirit will live on and never be forgotten. Dorothy was a God-fearing women with the passionate heart of an angel, she loved to give to others rather than receive. She loved to fish, listen to her favorite tunes, and be around her closest family and friends on the holidays. Dorothy was the oldest and held herself as such with her sassiness, but could love harder than anyone.

You were such a sweet lady with a giving soul. You cared about so many and we all loved you just as much. I feel extremely fortunate to have had 28 years of a relationship with you. I love the conversations we shared and the advice you gave me as I got older, even if it was more tough love than expected. You always had my best interest in mind and wanted to see me succeed in every aspect of life. I appreciate all the support you have given me, it never went unnoticed. You were truly one of a kind and will be missed tremendously.

She was one in million and truly embraced what it meant to be called Nana. Her love was strong and genuine. From her “straight shooter” advice to the heavy handed hugs she would give, we not only knew, but could feel how much she was loved us. She had ears that truly listened and a loving heart made of gold. I know she may be gone, but never too far away, and now our guardian angel always watching over us she always has! We love you Nana! -Love You Always, Candace, Calvin, Cameron and Cassidy

I can still hear your voice telling me all is going to be okay. You always told me that, when things were not going my way.“Be still, my child” were the words you used to calm my tears, As you lovingly helped me handle my fears. Your life was a gift that you shared without judgement and condition, A great teaching for me as i am blessed too with the mother position. I will surely miss your beautiful smile, That will light up the heavens for quite a while. God has called for his angel to be with him now,Job well done as you take your final bow! Love, “your little girl”, Roni
